Claudette Schlitter

About

Claudette ‘Cee’ Schlitter is a well-known singer/songwriter and author from Birmingham in the United Kingdom. Married with two children, she has a heart to communicate God's love and acceptance to the church and beyond. As a child, Claudette discovered her voice in church and has been singing ever since. She has always found great joy in ministering to the lost and the lonely and draws greatly on her life experiences so that she can help others find peace with God and with themselves. In her twenties, Claudette studied for three years at Mattersey Hall Bible College - a leading Pentecostal and Charismatic Christian College in the UK - where she met her husband Michael. After graduation, Claudette continued her ministry through singing at conferences, churches and meetings across the country and is still passionate about sharing the healing power of the gospel wherever she goes. Claudette’s testimony is both powerful and inspirational and can be heard through every lyric in her music. She writes from her heart and in every song there is a story. In concerts and live performance, people are touched not only by her mezzo soprano, dynamic and passionate voice but by the story of a life touched by the hand of God. For many years Claudette hid her true self from family and friends, until in the end the secrets of the past and her battle with an eating disorder threatened to destroy all that she had worked for. She began a search for true love and hoped for a happy ever after, only to find that more tragedy than she could ever imagine was coming her way. But she also experienced the grace of God during the hard times. Claudette has been a gospel singer for over twenty years, and in the last five years she has been through further personal trials and difficulties which have challenged her faith. She says: "Life experiences shape all of us and mine have sometimes torn me apart. God put me back together again and that shapes my songwriting as I put my heart and feelings down in each song. The track 'Days' is an example. It's about depression, an illness that I have frequently battled with." She has overcome many trials. From abuse in childhood and facing death while having her first child, to serious illness and betrayal, each experience has enabled Claudette to speak from the heart and to minister to those who are hurting or have faced tragedies and are questioning God in their suffering. Her autobiography, 'I Am Loved', is a candid, expressive book which explores faith alongside many harrowing life experiences. This moving story is one of a spiritual awakening and how a once unloved girl came to understand how much she was loved. Finally, Claudette has found the strength to face her past and the courage to tell her story. These life experiences heavily influence her new album, ‘Days, Seasons, Times.’ It is her most powerful recording to date, and the songs have been written alongside her inspiring autobiography.
