"FAITH -- HAVING IT AND USING IT" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE ASKED HOW THEY CAN GET FAITH.  I HAVE TAUGHT ON THIS SEVERAL TIMES  BUT EVIDENTLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH SINCE SOME ARE STILL ASKING. WELL, THE EASIEST WAY TO FIND OUT IS GOING TO GOD'S WORD.

THE BIBLE SAYS WE ALREADY HAVE FAITH AND WE ALL WERE GIVEN THE SAME AMOUNT.  LOOK WHAT THE APOSTLE PAUL SAYS IN HIS LETTER TO THE ROMANS IN CHAPTER 12, VERSE 3, "For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith."  WE USE OUR FAITH EVERY DAY.  WHEN YOU SIT IN A CHAIR YOU HAVE FAITH TO BELIEVE THAT CHAIR IS GOING TO HOLD YOUR WEIGHT OR YOU WOULDN'T SIT IN IT.  JUST THINK OF ALL THE THINGS YOU DO DAILEY WHERE YOU USE YOUR FAITH.  THE PROBLEM IS THAT SOME DON'T USE THEIRS IN THEIR SPIRITUAL LIFE.

NOW SOME HAVE ASKED HOW THEY CAN GET MORE OR INCREASE THEIR FAITH.  WELL AGAIN, THE BEST WAY TO FIND THINGS OUT IS TO GO TO GOD'S WORD.  PAUL ALSO SAYS IN ROMANS 10:17 "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."  GET INTO YOUR BIBLE AND LISTEN TO WHAT GOD HAS TO SAY.

NOW THERE ARE TWO PASSAGES I WANT TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT TODAY.  THE FIRST IS MATTHEW 9:18-19 WHERE IT SAYS "While he spake these things unto them, (JESUS WAS TEACHING ON NOT PATCHING OLD CLOTHES WITH NEW CLOTH AND NOT PUTTING NEW WINE IN OLD SKINS) behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples."    MATTHEW 9:23-25 GOES ON TO SAY "And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose."  WE CAN SEE FROM THAT PASSAGE THAT JESUS WILL MEET US RIGHT WHERE WE ARE. THE RULER COULD BELIEVE THAT IF JESUS WOULD GO TO HIS DAUGHTER AND LAY HANDS ON HER SHE WOULD COME BACK TO LIFE.  WE KNOW THAT JESUS COULD HAVE JUST SPOKE THE WORDS AND MADE THIS HAPPEN BUT HE MET THE RULER RIGHT WHERE HIS FAITH WAS AND WENT TO HIS DAUGHTER.

THE SECOND PASSAGE IS ABOUT THE WOMAN WITH THE ISSUE OF BLOOD,  THIS WAS ON THE ROAD WHILE JESUS WAS GOING TO THE RULER'S HOUSE TO BRING HIS DAUGHTER BACK TO LIFE.  MATTHEW 9:20-21 SAYS "And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole."  WITH ALL THE PEOPLE TOUCHING JESUS, HE FELT POWER GO OUT OF HIMSELF WHEN THE WOMAN TOUCH HIM.  THIS WOMAN HAD SO MUCH FAITH THAT SHE KNEW THAT IF SHE COULD ONLY TOUCH HIS GARMENT, SHE WOULD BE HEALED.  SHE DID THIS HERSELF AND JESUS TOLD HER SO, "THY FAITH HATH MADE THEE WHOLE".

SO USE YOUR FAITH.  READ YOUR BIBLE AND LISTEN TO WHAT YOU ARE READING.  WHAT YOU NEED IS ALL THERE TO BUILD YOUR FAITH AND HOW WILL YOU BUILD IT IF YOU DON'T READ YOUR BIBLE.  PAUL INCLUDES THIS SCRIPTURE IN HIS TEACHING ON FAITH AND IT SURE SAYS A LOT.  HEBREWS 12:1-2 "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
