"THE ATONEMENT" BY DAVID MCMILLEN
DO YOU KNOW WHAT ATONEMENT MEANS? IT IS MENTIONED IN ROMANS 5:10-11 AND IT SAYS "For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement." THE GREEK WORD THAT WAS TRANSLATED "ATONEMENT" IS "kATALLAGE" AND STRONG'S CONCORDANCE SAYS IT MEANS "EXCHANGE". WITH THAT MEANING IN MIND, READ THE FOLLOWING.
WE EXCHANGED OUR SINS FOR HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS AS IT SAYS IN 2ND CORINTHIANS 5:21 "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."
WE EXCHANGED OUR SICKNESS FOR HIS HEALTH AS IT SAYS IN 1ST PETER 2:24 "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."
WE EXCHANGED OUR SORROW FOR HIS JOY AS IT SAYS IN ROMANS 5:11 "And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement."
ALL OF THE ABOVE HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE FOR US. WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO GET YOU TO UNDERSTAND IS THAT THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEING BORN AGAIN AND BEING HEALED. IT WAS ALL IN THE ATONEMENT. LOOK WHAT JESUS SAID TO THE MAN WITH THE PALSY WHEN HIS FRIENDS BROUGHT HIM TO JESUS TO BE HEALED. IN MATTHEW 9:2 IT SAYS "And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee." JESUS DIDN'T SAY BE WAS HEALED, HE SAID YOUR SINS ARE FORGIVEN.
JESUS DID IT ALL WHEN HE WENT TO THE CROSS AND DIE FOR US. IF WE CAN BELIEVE WE ARE BORN AGAIN, WHY CAN'T SOME PEOPLE BELIEVE THEY ARE HEALED. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS HAVE FAITH TO BELIEVE IT AND RECEIVE IT. CAN YOU DO THAT TODAY?
