For The Sake Of the World

David Erickson

A-85

Verse One

You only have to look around the block or down a dark city street.

Where many are crying, they are hurting just like everyone else they meet.

We can also feel and see the hopelessness and utter despair.

But, Lord, for the sake of these many we voice these requests into the air.

Chorus

Lord, for the sake of the world, help us to do what you have called us to do.

For the sake of those who every day need heavenly strength from you.

I know, as you are, we are saddened to see this globe in such helpless turmoil.

For the sake of these who are lost in their sins, we pray a prayer of travail.

Verse Two

Whether in sorrow or in joy, we know there is hope for tomorrow.

there is a rainbow following the very, long lonely days of sorrow.

You are in charge and you know to the end and from the beginning.

The spirit is moving, and grace is sufficient to forgive all of our sinning.

Bridge

For the sake of the lost we are here, and it is very clear.

For the sake of the lost.  For the sake of the lost we pray.
