When He Came
By David Erickson
When he came to this earth, only a few would even know his name.
His parents were a long way from home when he came.
He was born in a manger, an animal stall, not fit for a king.
That night the angel choir appeared, and the shepherds heard them sing.
When he came to this earth the world was not even looking for a savior.
When the Christ came on a silent night, he brought redemption to the whole world.
I'm so glad that he came to bring peace to all of mankind and me.
When he came, this sinful life of ours was changed for all of eternity.
When he came, he was a little baby boy born to Joseph and Mary.
He was found wrapped in swaddling clothes but there he would not tarry.
When Jesus came to the stable, he put aside his kingship for some straw.
Only eternity will tell just how much he gave, he gave it all.
When he came, he gave all. He left heaven's glory for a humble stall.
When he came eternity did shout. Jesus, when he came, he gave it all.
