“It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.” Lamentations 3:26

Our challenge today!

In proverbs it tells us that hope deferred leads to a heavy heart. Have you ever hoped for something and it took what seemed to be forever before it came? It doesn’t seem so good as this passage says it is while you are going through it, but the waiting does something to us, it causes us to grow in faith, it causes us to lean more on God, assuming that he is the one that we are waiting on. In our waiting because it is so difficult to wait we find that it is even more difficult to wait quietly, Oh my! How hard it is to wait quietly, it is so much like it goes against every fiber of our being. So much that it seems to drain us of all our joy and strength, leaving us empty and spent, until that day that Jesus finally comes through for us. Have you ever wondered why it has to be like this? The answer is here; “it is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait” what’s so good about it? We learn, we grow, and we rejoice through its accomplishment! We did it! Jesus helped us through and he did it! He did it! And we did it!

Wow what a savior! Hope and wait because he is coming soon

"No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." Mathew 6:24

Our challenge today!

Many people find it difficult to commit to God because of the things they will have to give up. They may have to quit doing certain things that they like if they are to be true followers of Christ. The bad thing about this is not that they will have to deny themselves something that they might like, but instead, if they do not deny themselves these things then they are guilty of serving God's enemy. You cannot have it both ways. Jesus is the way, straight is his way, and narrow is his path and few there be that find it.

Are you straddling the fence today? Deny yourself those pleasures that oppose God.

John 4:50

Who said so? Who says something has every bit of importance to our believing doesn't it? When we are at work or whenever we hear news of things, often we ask the question, who ...said so? We need to have this confirmed or validated and guess what, this is always a good idea, unless Jesus says so! Out of the mouth of two or three witnesses a thing is established. With Jesus you can be guaranteed that what he has said is true, he has millions of witnesses! Proverbs 4:20-22 instructs us to attend to his words.

"My son attend to my words, incline your ear unto my sayings! Jesus says so! Verify all that you want, but his "word" can be taken straight to the bank! It is as solid as gold and the greatest health insurance that you can ever have! His word is life! Has he said it? Will he not do it? Jesus will perform that which he started unto the end!

"But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made near by the blood of Christ." Ephesians 2:13

There is a certain captivity to sin in our lives that prevents us from knowing God and getting close to him. Many are currently captive to sin, but God has made a way for us to be free. You might say "I don't feel... like I am captive to anything, that is because this captivity is not something that wants you to feel free, so without knowing freedom we don't realize captivity except that we might notice how difficult it is to get close to God. It is very difficult because God will not have sin, but because of his mercy he has made a way through his son Jesus that sets us free from sin and captivity and gives us access to our Father once again! "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Our confession and the acceptance of Jesus sets us free from captivity and allows us access once again!

Today, when we give thanks to God, take a little time to slow down and set your mind on the love that is from above, his kingdom, and others around you. "And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia: Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ," Galatians 1:2,3
Well now, is everybody comfortable? I mean a little of the cushioning of the seat here, and a little of the tickling of the ears there, everyone should be happy by now, right? GOOOOD! Now I can get started Paul says! Bam! Here it comes! "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from Him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another Gospel." Galatians1:6 Well okay then! Are we to take it that all the niceties are over? That's right! Could you imagine if this would be preached in the church today? How many would be shocked? How many might get up and walk out? Everyone is just getting settled in and enjoying the show, grace and peace is what we all came to hear, and all of a sudden, this man, this preacher gets on stage and starts accusing us of following another, who does he think he is? So what if he has backup! Titus and his gang are trainees compared to me! Wow! The whole time I thought Paul was a nice guy only to find out that he's almost as bad as Jesus, who called people serpents and a brood of vipers! The point is friends, true love has it's niceties, but only enough to greet you rightly and then the niceties get out of the way, because your soul is serious business to the Lord. Every Pastor and every minister and every Christian needs to be mindful that a passive, non contending for the faith, and tickling of the ears while the soul disappears, is not true love! True love will tell you the truth for the sake of your soul and will throw out niceties in order to do so! Delicacies and danties won't keep a soul, but the truth does! Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life! John 14:6
Love someone's soul today enough to tell them the truth! Jesus is the only way!

They say knowledge is power, but we all know that no one person knows everything, and God knows that we don't know, but God doesn't want us to know everything just yet, now is a time of prayer and trusting in Him and knowledge will maybe come later! Many things of God are on a need to know basis such as this event that the disciples were watching. They didn't understand why Jesus was washing their feet, just like we can't understand why some things that Jesus is doing in our life isn't explained to us in detail. Understanding often comes at a later time, after the fact and that's ok, if we knew it all at the present time, there is a good chance we would attempt to change things because they don't make sense to us and we wouldn't step out in faith or even pray, but would instead require an explanation before we acted! God is pleased with our faith and not how much we know! God is pleased when we come to Him as a little child, in prayer, and asking Him to help. Friends we don't have to understand, we only have to believe and come to Him asking!
Throughout the day today, please pray for all that are going through the earthquakes and the devastation that we hear about coming from Japan and other parts of the World. Jesus is coming back soon! Thank you and God bless you!
"Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy ways unto the Lord; trust in him; and he shall bring it to pass." Psalm 37:4,5

What are the things that bring the greatest pleasure to you in your life? This is what you delight in. Who are the ones that you have intrusted your life to? These are the ones who you are committed to. Does the Lord bring your heart great pleasure and have you placed your life in Him? These are the two questions that we need to answer. To have hope and expectation founded in a great love has many benefits including a confidence that what we ask for and wait for will come to pass. It is a promise with God's guarantee that it will happen when we place our trust in Him. Hoping, expecting, waiting, and calling it done in faith. These things may test your delight and committment, but placing your feet firmly on what God has said will give you the extra needed power to stay the course. Has He said it, and will He not do it? God will do all that He has said! Hope in God's plan and quietly wait for Him.
"And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was a silence in heaven about the space of half an hour." Revelation 8:1

This might have been called the great Expectation or Anticipation. Anticipation is making us wait, but silence is the time taken where we are having a complete focus on the event that is next to come. Zechariah 2:13 reads,"Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord: for He is raised up out of His holy habitation." There is no talking, moving, or anything that might distract, just a complete focus, an undivided attention, a total surrender of our eyes and ears and actions to what is about to happen. The Hunter knows this well, where any movement, noise, or distraction may cause the opportunity to be lost. For thirty minutes in heaven there was a complete silence. Focused waiting on the Lord. Ecclesiastes 9:17 tells us, "the words of wise men are heard in quiet" We now have what is called "a moment of silence" instead of prayer, because prayer offends some people, we have a moment of silence, but what is this moment of silence for those that are offended, it is for them a distraction from those that might focus on God through prayer? I wonder if they would still have this idea in their passing? I wonder if they wouldn't prefer to have all peoples praying for them in their time of need instead of this moment of silence? Either way, all attention is on God because everyone wants to know what will happen to them next!
Today, all eyes and ears on focused on the news watching and waiting to hear what will happen next in Japan and other parts of the world that have been hit by catastrophic events. Consider taking a time of silence to give your undivided attention to God on behalf of the many that are suffering. Pray that they will look to Jesus!

Imposter, deceiver, imitator, and wanna-be! The devil is a liar, it says here, he is "as a roaring lion" because he wants to be a lion, he's an imitator of a lion, but the reality is, he's a mouse! There's only one true lion and His name is Jesus, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah! Revelation 5:5 Nevertheless, satan our enemy, the mouse, is on the hunt for easy prey and we are given this warning to be alert. He is a mouse and mice like cheese, but we are rooted in the meat of God's word and not the milk only, wherefore we put on the whole armor of God, standing firm and resisting his attacks, having our loins girt about with the truth of God, such as, the devil is a liar, and we put on the breastplate of God's righteousness, having our feet shod with the prepared shoes of peace, having our shields of faith raised to deflect all words of doubt and unbelief, and finally having our minds guarded with the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit which is the word of God.
This wanna-be is so tiny, so quick, so quiet, that too often we cannot see him, but if we are prepared with the truth of God's word we will turn on the light switch and expose him! The devil is a liar not a lion!

Are we not one working together? "All together now, heave, ho! How many times have you had a project that you just couldn't do alone and that it took everyone in the house or on the job working together to accomplish the goal? It seems here that the people were not working together and Paul had to have a little counceling session with them. Some were saying they followed Paul while others said they followed Apollas and together they started to forget that they were all following God and were supposed to be working together as one. What if your children began to do this? One would follow your instructions and decide that they didn't have to listen to your spouse and vise versa? Or what if on the job your fellow workers would do this, one would follow the Manager and the other the Assistant manager. Can anyone say chaos? It doesn't work like that! We are supposed to work together, in concert with each other, not divided lest anyone should think that they are the only one!

If there is ever a time in which we need to come together it is now. We all have little differences, but we are all created by God and he wants togetherness and not chaos. Come together to accomplish God's purpose. Lay aside your differences and become one in achieving this goal.

"And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was born blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?" John 9:1,2
In Exodus 20:5b it reads, "I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;" so it was a common thought that if a person suffered any malady or was not whole there must be sin somewhere in their life, so the Disciples having this thought also and wanting to know where the sin came from, asked Jesus who did sin? Everyone thought it must be sin that caused these events that has allowed this man to suffer. There are many stories that tell it very similar to this, such as the story of Job, he had three friends, (Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar) that was certain that Job's life had sin because God would never allow such suffering if Job was right with God.Today there are some teachers that also subscibe to and teach similar thoughts, such as, if you have more faith or if you didn't have unconfessed sin, your life would be amazing and full of anything that you ask. We are not judge of this because in some cases God moves this way as they say, but not in all cases, in fact God chooses to move as He pleases and is not required to maintain an "in the box" standard so that we can know the reasons for everything. In this case, as with many others, God has chosen to allow this suffering so that His works would be made manifest in this man's life, as it is written, "Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents; but that the works of God should be made manifest." John 9:3,4
"God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think." Ephesians 3:20

"I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture." John 10:9

Jesus is the door. When you go to church today think about entering into heaven, although your church isn't exactly heaven, there is an entrance into a place where you can find grace, peace, joy and love, forgiveness, and God's word(which is Jesus). As you walk into the doors of the church today, think about the cost that Jesus paid, think about the rejected stone that Jesus laid, and think about Jesus and the love he gave. That love is what he desires for you always, he is the same yesterday, today, and forever. That door has not changed and it is still as wide open to you, just as open as it was on the first day that he came calling. Calling YOU to come, to enter into his grace, and to share with him fellowship and love. His grace is what frees you, His forgiveness is what grants you access, and His life of love is the door for you to walk through. It is free, access is granted, and Jesus is the way in. Jesus' (entrance) is the door.
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 Jesus is the entrance! Thank you Jesus!

"Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord." Psalm 27:14

There is a cloud of witnesses watching us wait. It is a powerful example to those that are waiting to see Jesus, before they will make their decision. Waiting with patience has many rewards, not just receiving what we are waiting for, but an even greater reward is when those that are watching us wait, watching us struggle, and are waiting from the sidelines to see what will happen, comes to Jesus because they have seen him work through us and through our patience in waiting. Isaiah 25:9 reads,"And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation." You have been waiting for Jesus to come through for a long time, but you are not the only one that is waiting for Jesus' promise in your life. Those that are silently waiting and watching you wait will see the salvation of the Lord as he performs his miracles in your life. This could be exactly what they need before they will ask Jesus into their heart!
Jesus will never dissappoint, he is at work to bring it to pass just as he has said and all around shall see his glory in your life!

"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:2
No matter where you are at in the world and no matter what's going on in your life we can always have hope for a better day when we look to Jesus! Some have said why did he do it? Why did Jesus go through such harsh treatment and death on the cross. When I think about what's going on in the world today and the suffering that exists, to have the example of Jesus reminds us that joy cometh in the morning! After all is said and done and after all the dust settles from the air we can see clearly that we have the victory, because victory is already won. Jesus has won the victory for us! Things might seem hopeless right now and for sure they are difficult, but never are they as difficult as what our savior endured to make the path straight for us to be with him in heaven. He endured the crucifixion while despising the shame of it all so that we can look to him and have hope to endure our sufferings too. "And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." Philippians 2:8
"For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds." Hebrews 12:3 Jesus loves you!

Are you asking questions within your heart about Jesus today? It is not unusual for us all to reason things in our minds and hearts. Having thoughts about Jesus and about what life is all about is a good thing. God desires to answer all of our questions and He knows them all. Daily He looks into our heart knowing that we will have questions. In Psalm 139:23 it reads, "Search me O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts." God does search our heart and mind and He knows everything that is there. He knows our questions, our desires, our fears, our hurts, and our hopes and is ready to answer us and lead us by the Holy Spirit into all truth when we ask Him. Turn to Jesus today with all that is in your heart and mind and surrender it all to Him, He knows it all and wants you to come to Him with everything. Jeremiah 24:7 reads," And I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall turn to me with their whole heart."
Nothing is ever hidden from God, He knows man's heart and can discern their thoughts! He is waiting for you to bring it all to Him today.

"But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions." Obadiah verse 17
Israel suffered at the hands of the Edomites. Edom was a bully, Israel's bully. Although the book of Obadiah is the shortest book in the Old Testament it tells a huge story of a people that completely vanished from history. Edom and the Edomites are not to be found anymore. Why? Edom and the Edomites decided to be the thorn in Israel's side so to speak and create trouble for the people of God. Some decisions in life have a severe consequence and to take a stand against God and His people is the worst decision that anyone could ever make. The only thing that happens to God's people is Victory! They will never know defeat! Any odds maker would side with a sure thing and the Victory of God's people is Absolute! After all the evil that the Edomites committed against Israel, after everything was settled, and after the bell rang to conclude the last and final round, Edom was humbled and no longer the big bad bully anymore! Edom's persecution was returned to them! Everything and more that was committed against Israel was returned to the Edomite's as a lesson to not pick on God's people! Edom and the Edomites were humbled and ultimately destroyed. Bullies never win!
To kick against the pricks of God and to bully God's people is a certain defeat and the tables will be turned against those that try, but for all of God's people they shall have the victory!

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a child is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6

Without counsel we try to work things out in our mind about what is the best way to do things, we establish our own guidlines based upon what we have heard others do or say, and we practice what seems to be right in our heart and mind hoping that all will work out. Getting advise is not bad. We all need advice from time to time about the matters of life and their are many people that stand ready to give it. Seeking counsel is a good thing, but who gives us counsel is where we need to have concern. There are some people that would do everything else before they ever asked anyone to help them by giving advise. Proverbs 15:22 reads "Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counselors they are established." Again, who gives us the counsel is where we need to have concern. While there are many that can give advise, not all advise is good advise. It is very important to have the right counselor when seeking advise. Jesus has already been established as the Wonderful Counselor because His advise has stood the test of time. His counsel is perfect!
His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor! He is always there to guide us and to help us establish His purposes in our life.

It is a rare thing for a Centurion to call anyone besides the Emperor, Lord. Who was this man that even Centurions in which had servants of their own and who themselves only called the emperor Lord and served no other would actually have them calling him Lord? This man was the son of the living God, the Messiah who had the power to save and heal. Here this Centurion realizes the healing powers of Jesus and goes to him in faith, not demanding Jesus to heal his servant, not ordering Jesus to heal his servant, but instead in such an amazingly humble way he requests only that Jesus speak the word and his servant would be healed. Often in our despair we go to God with our urgent demand, with words that point at God stating You said instead of humbling ourselves at his feet and requesting him in faith to give his word and this will be enough.
Is his spoken word enough to do what we need?

He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. He asked me, Son of Man can these bones live?" Ezekiel 37:1-3

Rehabilitation, many people have looked out into this world and have seen this valley of dry bones, a valley where death lives and where all hope is lost and sin and darkness rule those that live there. There are two million people encarcerated in the United States and this now appears very much like this valley of dry bones, it is where hope seems to be gone, and where they have sayings such as "I'm a dead man walking". Can these people live again? Rehabilitation is the word, Yes, is the answer, and Jesus is the hope where there seems to be no hope! This now is a huge problem on our society, all the costs associated, all the loss of life set before us, and the continual repetition without a cure. In the recent past there has been an acknowledgement that faith-based programs are the only cure, but why not cure them before the problem exists? On the front lines of this battle we are preventing others from becoming the cattle to be housed and locked away for good by sharing with them the cure for their ailments. By sharing with them Jesus, dry bones are healed before they get to this valley and the population will not increase anymore!
Share Jesus with someone today! You just might be saving lives and bringing life to a soul that is lost! Consider the potential impact on our world!

"Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: for so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." 2Peter 1:10,11

Our Lord, our God is so specific and so exact that He has identified who you are and what you shall be. This is called our vocation or employment for God and the Kingdom of Heaven, and before we go any further in explanation, let it be established that these specifics cannot be taken away! As it reads in Romans 11:29 "For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance." In other words if you were made to be and meant to be a mechanic no one can change that, God has determined this already, what we have to do is identify and agree with God and give all diligence or all planning and effort to do exactly what He has determined. If we decide that we don't like this or if we have not yet identified what our calling is, then we will not be effective or as effective as we should be, because we are working in the wrong capacity. We are not being true to ourselves and to what God has made us to be. So, if we are meant to be a mechanic and decide that we would like to be a dancer, we might not be a very good dancer and all the while many repairs are left undone and our happiness and prosperity is affected. So what is your calling? Are you meant to be a nurse, doctor, preacher, teacher, scientist, cook, musician, writer, or any one of the many vocations that are available?
Find out your calling by asking God what He created you to be and put all of your mind, heart, and soul into this calling. When you do this you will never fall and God will aid you in all that you need!
