During early years, the child is guided by natural laws and learns from the immediate environment progressing from known to unknown, simple to complex and from the concrete to the abstract in developing his/ her personality.
While many children continue to be in the care of their parents and guardians, there is a growing need for children in the age group of 3-6 years surroundings to spend part of their time in daycare and nursery/ preschool facilities.
The secret of good teaching is to regard the child’s intelligence as a fertile field in which seeds may be sown to grow under the heat of flaming imagination.
Our aim therefore is not merely to make the child understand and still less to force him to memorise, but so to touch his imagination as to enthuse him/her to his/her most core.
We seek to sow life in the child rather than theories to help him in his growth, mental, emotional and physical.
Development
Development implies the total growth in physical, cognitive, social, emotional, moral and spiritual aspects. Development can either be accelerated or retarded depending on the social and physical environment of the child (feeding, stimulation, care, love, interaction, social, climate and other experiences the child goes through in his environment).
Children learn by doing, activity is the most important aspect of the process of learning in young children, the more children interact with their environment through activity based learning, the greater will be clarity of the concepts they develop.
Development needs of children
Physical needs
· Need for proper feeding and healthy environment
· Need for exercise and play
· Need for sleep and rest
· Need for adequate clothing and shelter
· Need for care and attention
Emotional needs
· Need for love and security
· Need for success and self worth
· Need for happiness
Social and moral need
· Need to live with and relate with others
· Need to belong to a group, lead and follow
· Need to understand right and wrong
· Need to become independent
Spiritual need
· Need to understand the creator and creation
· Need to understand God as a living father who cares for them and others
Intellectual need
· Need for stimulation, opportunities to explore
· Need for opportunities to use language
· Need for purposeful play
The interventions needed for the development of the child fall under different sectors of service delivery such as health, water, and education.

The team at God’s hands daycare and nursery school work effectively to support the poor, needy and orphaned children in the rural by;
· Providing a friendly environment to a child regardless of sex or physical status of the child.
· Checking regularly on the growth and development of the children for proper physical, psycho social and emotional development.
· Helping children take care of their body and keep themselves clean.
· Knowing each and every child’s feeling, desires, likes and dislikes.
· Providing a stimulating, practical and self learning environment where children are free to interact with one another.
· Providing love and affection, security and legal protection, ensure development of self esteem and self confidence.
Children at God’s hands daycare and nursery school are the poor, needy and orphans who have no access to the physical needs which affects their growth, learning and thinking, every child is given attention and looked at as an individual.
We call upon all friends and well wishes to support this educational development through prayer, love gifts, funds, scholastic materials, play materials, build classroom among others as God may guide you.
God’s Hands Daycare and Nursery school (GHDNS) is a newly starting educational development project(2015 Jan 27th) initiated by Harriet and Robert Talugende to directly support the rural people, mostly the young stars in building a strong education foundation for them. It is located in Musita village along Jinja –Tororo Highway. The school has a total enrolment of 40 children; 16 boys and 24 girls and 3 teachers.
Robert and Harriet married together in church in April 30th of 2011 and Harriet was teaching in an International school mainly handling the infant classes for a period of seven years, while Robert working for the rural poor. We saw the great need and gaps in the education foundation stage of the children in the rural villages. Mostly the handwriting and spoken English children learn and speak varies from where they went to school and who taught them. With the practical experience Harriet attained while at Montessori International School, we decided to incorporate the educational project among other support activities we offer to the community. We started clearing the bush and the site, asked for the trees from the community members and they responded happily gave us the poles, we cut them and carried them on site.

Due to the rain season which starts in March, we thought through and took a loan of 600,000 UGX and bought the 32 iron sheets for the roof plus roofing nails. This gave the school a better look from the papyrus mat roofing; we thank God and believe he will enable us to pay back the loan before the given period 15th June 2015.
The Classes
These have been divided into 3 main classes; Baby class, Kindergarten (Middle) class and Top class. Top: 5 children
Middle: 16 children
Baby: 19 children
The activities done include; tracing, painting, pronouncing letter sounds, and saying good English language accent, shading, learning numbers, counting, learning days of the week and months in the year, singing and social play games.
During the school days, children take their morning Porridge served at 10:00am, before going for their play time break. The porridge is mixed with milk and sugar and they enjoy it.
