Can you believe that we made it through another Year of Indie Gospel Top 20 songs... there were 54 individual songs that entered into the Mix from Jan - Nov that means we had 2-3 songs that were new on every chart throughout the year. Some of those songs held their place on the chart for almost 12 months... that's incredible. in fact the highest scoring top 3 songs were only 8 points apart and each one did it in 10 months... My personal favorite made it to #6 Nov Top 3 owned my Laura Marks Vincent I doubted if they would even make it to the Top 25.. They did.. So let's get on with the Top 25 Songs of the year.. Coming in at
25 Secret Sins by Dee Smith... I remember when this came out .. He was steppin' on a few toes for sure...
24 Shabat Shalom by Bruce Moss definitely in the Jewish tradition flavor
23 Watching Over Me by Eva Sabiniano I hope you have the bass turned up... Great Song catchy Nice beat. beautiful singing Tempo
22. He Said Live by Randy Ward This song made it on the Top 25 in only 5 months... It's the lyrics .. of course the heart of the one who singing counts a little bit.. I think he loves the Lord... for sure...
21. Blood of Calvary by Whayes 4 ... you know what is fun? being able to stop the song and go back and just listen to the harmonies that this group pulls off. I remeber back in April when I first heard it.. I played it 3 times... right now.. Im working on the 2nd time... .. Yeah this song is that good and it only made it to #21.. incredible... Great Song folks..really good
20. He Saved My Soul by Giving Back REmindsme of the beginnings of the Folk Gospel age in the 70's I always loved that sound and genre.
19. Mid-night Hour by Arthur Rowland I didnt figure that this song would make it all .. even on the chart but .. its snappy .. love the bass movement. Arthur.. love it.....

18 I 'll Follow Jesus by Glenda Jackson... Love the build up in the orchestration. Piano is doing a nice job of supporting her..very nicely done
17. and 16. Everyday Miracle by Laurie Marks Vincent.. WOW! When I heard this song Laurie sent me a note and asked me to give a listen.. .. I did.. ooops I got lost in it... The lead in with the intro of the song works so perfect you would have thought it was a designed segue.. nope it just happen that way.. Jehovah Jireh .. He is indeed our Healer... Oh BTW .. She has a tremendous ministry! Check it out on her Website... just go to her Indie Gospel Page its there... Love the ending..
15. Stand still and Know He is God by Ulysses Brown Different... I like the sound effects he uses with the simple piano..
14. We Will Wait by Joe Wamsley I have seen Jjoe's music grow so fast and his son plays the drums really good... AT the beginning His intro is really out of the envelope for Joe and the first time I heard it.. I thought.. "That's Not Joe" oh but it was.. intriguing... WOW! Of Course.. Im sold! Thank you Joe for sharing the voice the Lord gave you to share His love.. Blessings my friend.. JB
13. Love so Amazing Laurie Marks Vincent.. Another great song...
12. Child of His Creation by John Lord a simple G-C progression.. Jojhon has a way with lyrics... they just stand out..
11. Speaking of You by Andrew Kwon ... This young man has a refreshing approach withhis unique voice for singing for the Lord.. At #11 he did it in only 6 months...
10. A Love Like that Hearts of Faith love their harmonies. their voice blend so..
9. Tempered Steel by Rebecca Griffths Strong, Powerful, but a little harsh hard driving.. I like the way Rebecca does that tempo singing..cool nice lead guitar
8. A WalkIn the Park by E. Pettersen With this Season a song like this reminds some of us of the life that was but now just a memory. Ir's life. This song and its lyrics touches the heart...
7. Give it all You Got by Doug Spencer Good solid down home hard driving country.... love it..... a little Charlie Daniels in there I suspect
From #6 to #1 onlu 20 points separated them from each other.. yes it was that close...
6. Feel The Nails by Mark Anthony Brown watch out for the middle it will get to you .. when they sing Holy Holy Holy... cause it grabs me every time.
5. When we see Eternity by Everett Adams A Good country voice.. the harmonies definitely there ... oh yeah Very nice Everett...
4. Lost in the Sand by Kelly Matthews a young voice with energy.. great lyrics
3. Did He Ever Think of Home by Jim Sheldon .. My Friend Jim ? WE go back almost to the beginning of the Indie Gospel Top 20 ... (It was the Top 10 every week then) And now Jim's on tour in a Tour Bus.. Witnessing for the Lord.. Think of you Jim.. and yes He did think of Home. With His Father as will we in time.. Blessings my Friend
2. Faith and Stone by Debbie Bergone The Intro with the drum and the tambourine on the top of the TopHat. and the bass ... You know something is coming and you there in about 10 seconds.. Debbie's voice is stong crisp and clear ... the story? we all know David and Goliath.. love it Debbie.. Congrats for having the #2 song of the year ....
1. A Thorn On A Rose by Joseph Beggs This Song? Who would have believed .. 11 months on the chart it went up and then down and then back up and up ... Finally hit #1 in Sept.. and here is the #1 song for 2018... Wow

........... DANGER ! ! ... ....
Saddle - Up We're Burnin' Daylight
The Great Falling Away is here and its not what you think ... Please read John 1:1-14
We know that the subject in this scripture is "THE WORD" and we know about "the Great Falling Away" that occurs at the end of times. here is a couple of bible verses on it..... 1 Timothy 4:1 - Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; ..... 2 Corinthians 11:3 - But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ .... Heb 6: 4:-6 ... 4 For [it is] impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put [him] to an open shame..... There are more verses throughout the bible on the Great Aposty,, Great Falling Away, but please read these and digest them you will see the real message, with its Double-Edged Sword! ....

Sure Christians look around themselves and say, boy am I glad Im not like those Liars, those Frauds, those politicians with no Morals, or the people who completely disregard the Law in favor of their own way.... They even think that 2 Chronicles 7:14 is for the whole nation to turn back to Christ physically and change their ways back from evil to good. ! I wish it were true ... but I think its too late for the whole nation of the USA .. THE GREAT FALLING AWAY?
HOW MANY OF YOU ARE CHRISTIAN? YEP.. A BUNCH....Scripture: Revelation 2:2-4 2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: 3And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. 4Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love" .... .
NOW, LET ME ASK YOU A PERSONAL QUESTION .... How many of you still read the Joy of the scriptures? The Joy of the Lord? HIS WORD? or "do you walk away with your bible still on the table"? .... ....THAT ... MY FRIENDS, MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS IS, " THE GREAT FALLING AWAY" THE FALLING AWAY FROM GOD'S WORD! .... Saddle-up! We're burning daylight.
Wow, we made through Jan and now here comes the FEB 2018 Chart with a little twist to it. a few years ago Thje Indie Gospel Artists got together and put together a Project to help the Children. In the Feb Chart the #20-#19 - #18 songs are from that Album Project, "The Sound of Hope" I thought it would be good to remind all of us what we can do when we gather together in His Name. So Here we go,
20. "Where the River Runs" - Laurie Marks Vincent This is the first song in the project .. .
19. "Never Be The Same" - Barry and Teena Winslow this song is found in the middle of the Project ...
17. I'm Glad by Dave Butler ... There is something about this song. even though it is as simple recorded voice and guitar... it is very good and I found out that our own Ken Rich knew him and a few of his friends here is what Ken said about Mr. Butler ... "I do indeed and I know his son and Wayne Ralph's (really good artist) daughter is married to his son. Let me know if you need more " and then this from Ken .... " Our network had humble beginnings, with the dream of a dying Country Gospel artist Dave Butler , to live on in his songs and keep winning souls. He had no money, no way to be properly recorded, or promoted. The music industry runs on dollars, not compassion, so people often die with their songs still in them .

We function as a platform, a vehicle to allow artists like Dave to reach the world with their music. His songs now bounce off of satellites and reach every corner of the globe. They travel in podcasts, in flash players, as MP3's, as Cd's - they even found their way to a radio station in Austria and a remote outpost in Antarctica. " Thank You Ken.. there is History in the halls of Indie Gospel ...

First of all I will be doing my little breakdown backwards just like the Radio show from #20 - #1 also I am trying to keep #20 open for past #1 songs from years before (like this months was #1 back in Nov 13, 2011) So Let's get started
20 "A Walk In The Park" by E. Pettersen - Ed is one fantastic 'Story Teller' You know after 6 years ... this song still gets to me, especially the ending. Ed ... God has blessed you my friend .. JB
19 "One Pair of Hands" by Joseph Greco - The tune reminds you of another song that Elvis as well as other artists did, but what I find in this song is his lyrics, the heart and the personal touch that is displayed within... thank You Joesph ... really nice song. JB
18 "Were You There?" by Charity Jackson - I love the Piano and how dominant it is .. the slipping in of harmonies but the strong voice of Charity still comes through. even though it is a Standard ... it deserves to be on the Top 20 for July.
17 "King Jesus" by MarioDeja Torres - The snare shots on the drum will wake you up. I love the beginning even though it is a bit unorthodox to us old foggies ( ) But you know.. I really like that Chord progression and the beat of the Rhythm guitar. Nice drum/percussion solo and then the girls come in.. wow! nice touch .... Solid lead guitar.. ok guys.. it says "Thou shall not have fun doing songs like this" hehehehee it sounds like you all did have fun... JB
16 "WWJD" by E. Pettersen - Here is Ed doing his current song for the Chart. Love the intro, and the phrase "If He were here today, WWJD?" it makes you think twice about what's going on .. I just love the flute solo. what a nice touch ...
15 "He Saved My Soul" by Giving Back ... Fresh.. I just love the harmony between the girls. each its own and yet blends with the other. Sorry, I just love the lyrics and Harmonies..
14 "Nothing But The Blood" by His Voice this song was #1 back in March of this year .. you wil see why when you hear the into and the voices.. Dynamite. Talk about enduring? This makes the 10th month that "Nothing But The Blood" has been on the chart. The Power of the delivery its just THERE! and the Key Changes are done so, so professional .. and the voices going up to the next key... Tight... yeah That's why its still on the Top 20... Blessings to all of you.... JB
13 "The Widows' Prayer" by Cindy Tilkens - What a beautiful intro, classic it introduces the song perfectly. and when Cindy starts to sing such a clean smooth voice... ok now listen to the lyrics ... even if after the show go to Cindy's page and listen to it again. Awesome, the crying lead guitar is perfect.
12 "WE Will Wait" by Joe Wamsley - Joe is one of our original artists.. I still remember when I heard the first song, it was great... touched me the way he used different tempo's in singing different.. in "We Will Wait" I cant guarantee it, but the drums, I think, are done by his son. ghezz Joe, He is getting really good. and your arrangement of this song, is super.. The Overdubs are perfect! Now all we have to do is learn the lesson .... "Wait Upon the Lord" Say hi to all the Wamsley's for me.. Beautifully done Joe... Blessings... JB
11 "I Believe What Jesus Said" by Everett Adams - a little blue grass with a mix of country with a rich voice that's true country... so easy to listen to
10 "Forward Ever, Backward Never" Bruce Moss a nice 6/8 song ... This song was #1 in May of this year. its been on the chart for 1 year after July. Incredible.. cant help it. the Song is that good. Bruce .. time to do another one as good as this one.. You have a great month.. Blessings JB
9 "Free From Me" by Katelyn McCarter - I got a message from a familiar artist that I have worked with on the "Sound of Hope" Album.. it said, "James, you gotta stop by Katelyn McCarter's page and check it out. Here it is in its 3rd Month! What an arrangement the simple keyboard, I can't say where it will end up but it will get up there in the upper echelon. Katelyn keep up the good work and to your engineer, a nice job... Blessings JB
8 ""On My Down" by Randy Ward In its 4th month.. "Way Down" Is still rollin just like Randy. Talk about a guy with a couple strikes against him, still it doesn't hold him back. Yes Randy, He did reach down and grabbed us out of a bad course .. Thank God. Thank you Lord for what you did for us.. for all of us who were "On Our Way Down"
7 "Get Thee Behind Me Satan" by Joe Shaw - Solid Country, solid lead guitar lead, all the way around - Love that voice of pure country ... and the harmonies... It just good ... I dancin in my wheel chair.. to bad I cant do the two Step... JB

The Feeding of the 5000 from a Different Point of View

It was a Sunday, no I didn't go to church, I was at an Offroad Race in Las Vegas 1985. I was team Capt of a pretty successful Team Called Sandak Racing out of Corona. I had just arrived home from the race and it was about 6-7pm at night. A friend of mine had given me a new bible and it was laying on the coffee table. whew, was I tired. I picked up the bible and began to read. Somewhere in the old testament. Pretty cool what was happening back then. I was laying on the couch and I fell asleep with the bible opened on my chest.
The Incredible Dream:
I was playing with this thing that looked like a hoola hoop with a stick. It was fun, I was about 10 years old. I was living with my sister, mom and dad on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. My mom was standing in the doorway and called me over to her and so I went. She said to me, "Son, your sister is sick and I have to stay here with her, your father is on the sea fishing." Then she handed me a basket and some denari and said, "it is you that must go to the market and get 5 loaves of bread and some fish" So I took the basket and feeling kinda proud I began my journey to the fish market. (it felt about a 1.5 – 2 mile walk)
The water was on my left as I walked North up the beach towards the mouth of the Jordan River. AS I approached the fish market I could see there were a lot of people. So I went straight to the bread tent and asked for 5 loaves of bread. The lady smiled and put the 5 loaves in the basket for me and I gave her the denari. I still had some denari left and went over to the fish tent and did the same thing. I handed over the denari and the man smiled and gave me two fish. I thanked him and began my journey back home. The water was now on my right (Heading south). I really felt proud that mom would ask me to go all by myself to get the bread and fish.

I was about 1/2 way and off to my left there were a bunch of people beginning to gather on the hill to my left. I thought there sure is a lot of people, I wonder why they are there? and Continued to walk along the beach. Then a young man ran by me on my left saying “HE's Here!” Off to my right I saw a boat that was coming ashore. It had about a dozen men in it. It rolled ashore just in front of me. They all got out. The man with a beard and white robe got out and began to walk up the hill.

When I got even with the bow of the boat the man turned around and looked at me. He had the most incredible eyes of peace! He looked right at me and smiled. Then, he turned around and continued up the hill to this little plateau. Not thinking, I turned and followed Him. When we got to the plateau, I saw this rock so I went to the rock and sat down with my basket in front of me. I could see all around! there were thousands of people all around! He began to speak.

Nobody said a word, he spoke with this voice that could be heard over the whole hill! People were in awe. I just sat in amazement. Then he went back into the circle of friends that came with him and said, "We need to feed these people." The guy on his right said, "Feed Them? Where are we going to get the money to feed them?" Then the guy on his left pointed a finger at me, and said, "I See a young child with some bread and fish but what is that to this many people?" Then the man got up and walked towards me with those incredible eyes of peace and reached for my basket. He never said a word. He picked up my basket and walked over to the center of the circle of friends and lifted up my basket and gave thanks to God and then said, "Take these loaves and fish and break them up for these people to eat of". I saw the face of the man named Peter. He looked like the man with the eyes of peace was maybe a bit looney. Like he had said something that just couldn't be done. Nevertheless they began to break the fish and loaves and pass the pieces out.

After a long while the man said, "Now let us not waste anything and collect the scraps". Again that man called Peter was stupified! He looked around at all the people and shook his head in amazement again. Not believing that there could be one scrap left. But he said, "OK lets collect all the scraps". Scraps began to come in and in just a short time my basket was full of scraps, all the way to the top! and Peter said, "We need another basket!" and a basket came from nowhere and it began to be filled. Now all the people there were really stupified! As another basket was needed as the scraps kept coming in. The men with him couldn't keep up with the scraps coming in finally the last scrap came in. There were 12 baskets in the circle, All filled to the top with scraps! People were staring at those baskets, some just shook their heads not believing what they had just seen. Then the man got up and picked up my basket and walked over to me and gave me back my basket. All of a sudden I got this thought. I AM LATE!! He smiled at me again and I got up, picked up my basket and ran down the hill to my home. I knew mom would be worried and ran as fast as I could.
When I got to within ear shot of the house I began to yell, "MOM! Mom! You Should have seen this man with this beard and eyes of peace! .. He did this awesome thing!!! MOM MOM!" She came to door with a look of worry on her face and as she saw me she had the biggest smile... and I reached her and told her. "MOM, this man with incredible eyes of peace looked at me and I followed him up the hill. He said so many wonderful things and then he took our basket of bread and fish and fed thousands of people. And then he gave me back our basket and it was full of these scraps and I handed the basket over to her. But.... then to my amazement as she reached for the basket I saw what was in it. It full of loaves of bread, and fish ... whole loaves of bread and whole fish!!! Amen
That was in 1985. It was not until 11/19/91 that I truly came to the Lord. I had not read the scriptures or the New Testament in its entirely. I did not know the scriptures of The Lord's Ministry. But years later in studying the Gospels I saw that each of the 4 gospels had something about that episode.
Combine them all together and you have the dream that I had some 6 years before I accepted the Lord.
So when I read or hear about the Feeding of the 5000 I can relate to the awesome event as in the Dream I was THAT BOY!. How did he get there? Why was he alone? How come he had the basket and not his mom? And yes the biggee.. what the heck was a boy alone doing in the midst of 5000 + people? I would have been going the other way in souped up Mustang!
You all have a great day in Our Lord.... Ain't He Good?
James Banfield
