As I began to think about Loss & Greving - Phil 3.7-14 comes to

> mind. The passage begins by talking about ³loss² and in verse 8 it mentions

> ³gain.² In verses 12-14 the language (from the NIV) speaks of. ³I press on to

> take hold of, ³forgetting² and again ³press(ing) on.²

>

> I find it interesting in that as I have learned to appreciate the grieving

> process at the stage of acceptance, it seems that the main and most difficult

> task to do is to be willing to ³let go² of the thing that is already lost or

> gone. Though the object is gone, we continue to hold on. The fear that

> motivates us is that we will forget the loved one. That they will slip away

> from us as if they never existed.

>

> The process is that we start out by continuing to hold on though the loss is

> defined as gone. In effect there is nothing left to hold on to. But as we

> empty our grip we are then in a position to take hold. For actually the

> relationship to the one lost is ready to take on a new dimension of

> relationship to our lives. We find that the loved one did not really leave us

> at all. I found this as being true with the loss of my Mother years ago.

>

> We often get real attached to the person of our loss meaning the fleshy or

> physical part. I read in a paper about a gentleman who continues to go day by

> day to the graveside of his deceased wife. When asked why does he go he says

> that he knows that the real person he had been married to is not there but

> that ³the hand he use to dance with² is there.

>

> My contention is that our bodies are the containers. The real gift that those

> we love give us is the time and attention and the love that they gave us while

> we were alive. It was the deposits and the investments that they gave us

> while they were living. To use the analogy of a Christmas present, we keep

> the gift and we discard the wrapping and the box that the gift came in.

>

> Certainly this is true for Christ. Christ could not be fully appreciated

> until after His death, burial and resurrection. Its his words and his

> teachings that do mean so much to us. And of course if we believe in Christ

> we realize that these separations are only temporary.

>

> But even more this line of thinking takes on a much deeper meaning to me. It

> is one of grand themes that I think are in the Bible. To be direct about it,

> sometimes in life we have a tendency to hold on to things a lot longer then

> what we should be doing. I think of a fighter pilot, which is what for a long

> time; I wanted to be when I grew up. There is a thing among fighter pilots

> known as ³target fixation² if I am not mistaken. This would be particularly

> true of a fighter pilot in one of these supersonic jet planes. That at the

> point of release of the weapon it is time for the pilot to immediately turn

> his attention back to flying his aircraft rather than watching to see if the

> weapon hits the target.

>

> From a Biblical standpoint, I am impressed by the story of the Exodus. Israel

> was released from captivity in Egypt after four hundred years of slavery and

> of harsh labor. And it says that God brought them out by a mighty hand and

> delivered them. The problem however was not their coming out but their coming

> to the land of promise.

>

> I find that we often consider that the two concepts are one and automatic. As

> soon as we come out of one thing we automatically enter in to something else.

> But, for humans, we have the ability to linger right at the door way of having

> come out but not yet willing to enter in. As a result, God waited for a whole

> generation (40yrs) for the one generation to die off so that he could bring

> the next generation into the promise. Actually in forty years it was more

> like two generations had to die off before those who were 20 yrs old and young

> to grow up and to enter in. For they did not seem to have that strong memory

> of Egypt pulling at them to want to go back.

>

> For the older generations the pull of what they knew was stronger than the

> promise of a better life ahead of them. Compare Deut. 4.37-38 and Deut 6.23.

> It is clear that God¹s purpose was not just to bring them out. He brought them

> out in order to bring them in.

>

> In the 13th and 14th chapters of the Book of Numbers we see that God had a

> very difficult time with bringing Israel into their promised land. They did

> not believe. They would not trust God. They kept holding on to the land of

> bondage and would not let go. They lacked faith that the same God that took

> them out of a bad land could settle them safely in a good land. In Num.

> 14.15-16 says: ³if you put these people to death all at one time, the nations

> who have heard this report about you will say, ŒThe Lord was not able to bring

> these people into the land he promised them on oath, so he slaughtered the in

> the desert¹.²

>

> When I think of grief process and of recovery and even of a life of faith,

> this principle continues to speak to me. Bringing people out of distress is

> only half of what God is willing and wanting to do. The other part of it is

> to bring us in to what God has already promised us ³on oath.²Blessings

Sometimes people on road crews are not very popular. I appreciate the

work these crews do, but it seems they always do it at the worst time,

like during rush hour. What I have never understood is why they have

to close lanes miles before the work site. They block off the entire

freeway, while, they are way over on the other side doing their work.

Some people get rather angry with them.

John the Baptist was on God's road crew. The Bible describes him as

"The voice of one crying in the wilderness: 'Prepare the way of the

Lord; make His paths straight. Every valley shall be filled and every

mountain and hill brought low; the crooked places shall be made

straight and the rough ways smooth" (Luke 3:4–5). The word for

"crying" could be translated "howling." John was not known for

subtlety. He had a job to do, and he realized that he had a relatively

short period of time to do it. His job was much like that of a herald

who went ahead of a royal procession.

John was there to prepare the way for the Lord. He was on God's road

crew, leveling the mountains, bringing up the low places. It was his

task to prepare the nation for their saviour and then to present the

Saviour ;and he wasn't very popular for it.

In a sense, that is our job as Christians as well. We need to realize

that like John, our time is limited. We have to make every moment

count. We don't want to waste time. And like John, we should be doing

what we have been called to do.

Crazy... It's finally here. It's been 3 years since my last release. It took

6 months to record. And the band spent the last 4 weeks cramming like it's

the SAT. But we're ready, and we're so stoked. I just really hope Kanye West

doesn't show up screaming that Beyonce's CD release was infinitely better.

There's no way I can't compete with "Single Ladies". Or that Youtube video

So, I know a lot of you are no where near Los Angeles. For those that are, I

really really hope to see you tomorrow night. For those that aren't, feel

free to check out the concert live on my church's website: [1] www.ccmtb.com .

"Give Thanks . . . in Everything" - @rev-john-mulqueen

Sometimes, worship and thanksgiving can be a sacrifice. That may be

because we are down or depressed or things aren't going all that well

for us. Maybe hardship or tragedy has struck our lives in some way and

we don't want to thank God.

Yet the Bible urges us to give thanks to the Lord. Psalm 106:1 says,

"Praise the Lord! Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His

mercy endures forever."

We are told in Colossians 3:17, "And whatever you do in word or deed,

do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father

through Him."

And Hebrews 13:15 says, "Therefore by Him let us continually offer the

sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving

thanks to His name."

We are not told to give thanks to the Lord because we feel good; we

are to give thanks to the Lord because He is good.

As we approach God to ask for new blessings, we should never forget to

say thanks for the blessings already given. We should be just as

definite in returning thanks as we are in requesting help.

But many times we aren't. We are quick to ask for help, but we are

slow in giving thanks.

Sometimes, this can be difficult, because we feel as though we have

been dealt a bad hand in life or there are things that have happened

to us that we don't understand. But here is something we need to

remember: "In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in

Christ Jesus for you" (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

This verse doesn't say give thanks in some things or in what you think

are the good things. It says to give thanks in everything.

Now it is easy for me to give thanks when something wonderful happens

to me. When something bad happens, however, I think, I won't give

thanks for that.

But I don't know that we ever will fully know what was good or bad in

our lives until much later. I would even suggest that what you think

is a bad thing today may turn out to be a good thing tomorrow or down

the road. And what you have thought of as a good thing may, in time,

turn out to be a bad thing.

As you look back in time, you will be able to say that the Lord knew

what He was doing.

For a number of years, I lived with my grandparents, whom I called

Mama Stella and Daddy Charles. My grandmother was an amazing cook. She

never reheated anything, and I don't think she had ever seen a TV

dinner (and wouldn't be interested in one if she had). She made

everything from scratch, including the best fried chicken I've ever

tasted.

But the crowning achievement of my grandmother's cooking was her

biscuits. Once you started eating them, you couldn't stop. Watching my

grandmother make them, it appeared to be such a simple process. But no

one could quite make it work like her.

The ingredients were simple: vegetable oil, self-rising flour, and of

course, some buttermilk. No ingredient she used was appealing to me on

its own. But she would blend it all together and then put it into a

very hot oven.

And when she took those biscuits out, the results were good. Really

good.

In the same way, God will take the events of our lives, the good

things and the so-called bad things, and put them in the oven of

adversity. When it is all done—sometimes much later—we

will realize that it is good. What may seem bad today actually may be

good tomorrow.

We need to trust God.

To give thanks, we must recognize that God is in control of all

circumstances surrounding our lives. We must realize that God loves us

and is always looking out for our eternal benefit, even if what we are

presently going through is difficult.

We must remember that God is wiser than we are. He is always dealing

with us for our best and eternal good. But sometimes, what is good for

us eternally is not easy for us temporarily. God will make that

decision and work in our lives.

There is so much to give thanks for. Have you been thanking God? Don't

wait until Thanksgiving Day. For the Christian, every day should be

Thanksgiving.

“Walk humbly before your God.” - @rev-john-mulqueen

“Walk humbly before your God.” What does it mean to be humble?

Being humble is the opposite of being proud. Pride says “I have done it all myself.” Humility says “Every good gift I have was given to me by God.” Pride says “I am the king of the world.” Humility says “Jesus Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords and I am His servant.”

Pride says “I am the best.” Humility says “Let me prefer others above myself and give to others.” Pride and selfishness say “It is all about me.” Humility says “My time on earth is short; let God love others through me.” Pride says “What has been given to me is all for me to use and enjoy.” Humility and love say “What has been given to me is for me to bless others as well as to enjoy.”

It is not easy being humble. The Bible says, “Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:5 - 11

So, this week, let us pray and ask God

To help us love Him and love others and be humble and not proud

To think of others more than ourself

To bless and keep and protect us and our families and friends.

For the holidays I wish you more Christ in your life,

And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a

loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet,

giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.

--Luke 17:15-16 (NKJV)

I remember the first time I said, "Praise the Lord!" It seemed like a

very awkward phrase to utter. All of my Christian friends would say

it, and I thought, I am going to say that now. I consciously thought

about it first. But I had a hard time getting it out. Once I did, it

felt kind of good. So I said it again. It is a wonderful thing when

"Praise the Lord" just flows from your lips.

In fact, that is what you were created to do. You were created to give

glory to God. It is the highest use of your vocal chords, your mouth,

and your lips. God wants to hear us give Him praise. We need to give

God what He deserves, and that is glory. Psalm 29:2 tells us, "Give

unto the Lord the glory due to His name; worship the Lord in the

beauty of holiness."

Yet far too often we are like the 10 men who suffered with leprosy and

called out loudly to Jesus for intervention. He graciously heard their

prayer and healed all of them of their dreaded disease. But only one

returned to thank Him. Jesus said in response, "Were there not ten

cleansed? But where are the nine?" (Luke 17:17).

Often we are quick to ask God for help during times of crisis, but we

are very slow to offer Him thanks after He intervenes on our behalf.

In doing so, we are essentially telling Him, "Thanks, God. See you

next crisis." When those leprosy-stricken men saw Jesus, they cried

out loudly for His touch. But only one came back to loudly thank Him

(see Luke 17:15–16).

We should be as devoted in our praise to God as we are in crying out

to Him for help.

It has come to my attention that many of you are upset that folks are taking My name out of the season.

How I personally feel about this celebration can probably be most easily understood by those of you who have been blessed with children of your own. I don't care what you call the day. If you want to celebrate My birth, just GET ALONG AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

Now, having said that let Me go on. If it bothers you that the town in which you live doesn't allow a scene depicting My birth, then just get rid of a couple of Santas and snowmen and put in a small Nativity scene on your own front lawn If all My followers did that there wouldn't be any need for such a scene on the town square because there would be many of them all around town.

Stop worrying about the fact that people are calling the tree a holiday tree, instead of a Christmas tree. It was I who made all trees. You can remember Me anytime you see any tree. Decorate a grape vine if you wish: I actually spoke of that one in a teaching, explaining who I am in relation to you and what each of our tasks were. If you have forgotten that one, look up John 15: 1 - 8.

If you want to give Me a present in remembrance of My birth here is my wish list. Choose something from it:

1. Instead of writing protest letters objecting to the way My birthday is being celebrated, write letters of love and hope to soldiers away from home. They are terribly afraid and lonely this time of year. I know, they tell Me all the time.

2. Visit someone in a nursing home. You don't have to know them personally. They just need to know that someone cares about them.

3. Instead of writing the President complaining about the wording on the cards his staff sent out this year, why don't you write and tell him that you'll be praying for him and his family this year. Then follow up... It will be nice hearing from you again.

4. Instead of giving your children a lot of gifts you can't afford and they don't need, spend time with them. Tell them the story of My birth, and why I came to live with you down here. Hold them in your arms and remind them that I love them.

5 Pick someone that has hurt you in the past and forgive him or her.

6. Did you know that someone in your town will attempt to take their own life this season because they feel so alone and hopeless? Since you don't know who that person is, try giving everyone you meet a warm smile; it could make the difference.

7. Instead of nit picking about what the retailer in your town calls the holiday, be patient with the people who work there. Give them a warm smile and a kind word. Even if they aren't allowed to wish you a "Merry Christmas" that doesn't keep you from wishing them one. Then stop shopping there on Sunday. If the store didn't make so much money on that day they'd close and let their employees spend the day at home with their families

8. If you really want to make a difference, support a missionary-- especially one who takes My love and Good News to those who have never heard My name.

9. Here's a good one. There are individuals and whole families in your town who not only will have no "Christmas" tree, but neither will they have any presents to give or receive. If you don't know them, buy some food and a few gifts and give them to the Salvation Army or some other charity which believes in Me and they will make the delivery for you.

10. Finally, if you want to make a statement about your belief in and loyalty to Me, then behave like a Christian. Don't do things in secret that you wouldn't do in My presence. Let people know by your actions that you are one of mine.

Don't forget; I am God and can take care of Myself. Just love Me and do what I have told you to do. I'll take care of all the rest. Check out the list above and get to work; time is short. I'll help you, but the ball is now in your court. And do have a most blessed Christmas with all those whom you love and remember :

I LOVE YOU,

When Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, "If you return to the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the Lord, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines,” (1 Samuel 7:3).

With the cares of this world and our busy schedules, it is easy to drift away from God. The same is true for the people that lived in Samuel’s time, and as such, Samuel explained to the children of Israel a four-step process to return to God. This process is as relevant today as it was in Samuel’s day. We do not consciously make an effort to drift from God, but it does happen especially when we do not make an effort to communicate with Him daily.

The first step is recognizing the path that we are on and choosing to return to God. Many of us have found ourselves on a dead-end road. The easiest way to get off that road is to turn around and go back the direction that we came. This is the time to stop, take inventory, and turn around.

Second, just as Samuel encouraged the children of Israel to put away foreign gods, we need to do the same in our lives. We may think that we do not have any foreign, but whatever is robbing us of our time with God is standing between us and Him. We need to examine our lives and remove those things that are standing between us and God and the plans that He has for us.

Third, prepare your heart for the Lord. We must prepare our hearts by making time on a daily basis to pray and listen as the Lord speaks to us.

Fourth, commit to serve only God. There are many things in our lives, even good things, which would take us away from a personal relationship with our Lord. It is only when we put Him first that everything comes into focus. When He is first, then everything else has the right priority – our family, our career, and the things that He has called us to do.

If you find that you have drifted from God, there is no need to condemn yourself. As we approach a New Year, we can simply apply these four steps and I believe the Lord is willing to take us right where we stand and accomplish His will and purpose if we allow Him.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year In Christ,

The Last Biker...The old ones stand out now, their numbers dwindling down. They're sad loss to the American scene, these individualists with the worn down clothes, saddles and faces. You can still see them sometimes, the real ones, some in packs, not as large as a while ago, sometimes alone.

The alone one is the best. One who's been there a long time, staying in the life he loves, never giving into a system that sucks you up like a vortex if you slip just one foot into it. He's got his connections - a few like him, that care for and protect each other. Hanging onto the only unique lifestyle left, like old dinosaurs, their faces are leathered and rough by forty, but their eyes still sharp and knowing.

Some are gray in the beards and braids, some are limp in their step and some pain in the kidneys. Still they know that no other life is life, but merely a dreary journey into everyone else's monotony. He looks at the new ones, and then turns away, knowing they will never know of life on the road and of the women who can take it. Wild, loving women who'll hang in with them, because they love it too. Women with wild hearts and loyal souls, that's what's needed here.

The new ones are shiny and young and a bit too clean. They're born into a system that has an iron grip now. The new one's don't seem to know and couldn't take "the life".

I think it's a mystery, even to the old ones, why this life is theirs, but it is, and it's the only one.

When the last biker falls, like the dinosaurs, the sun will go down on a breed of heart-of-gold, tough as nails, free spirited men, who even at their worst, love what's theirs and protect it. In a worldwide system that is making all people as alike as manufactured dolls, the earth will be a duller place...when the last biker falls

And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything

they had.

--Acts 2:44 (NLT)

"Fellowship" is a great word that Christians often use. But do we know

what fellowship originally meant in the early church? The word

"fellowship" used in Acts 2 is the Greek word koinonia. It is a

difficult word to translate into English because of its many shades of

meaning. It can be translated "fellowship," "communion," "community,"

"communal," and "friendship." The word encompasses so much that

believers do together.

But fellowship is more than socializing. Anyone can socialize. The

idea of fellowship is that we come together to commune with God and

commune together. It is when we get together and talk about the things

of God. And God loves it when we talk about Him with each other.

Malachi 3:16 says, "Then those who feared the Lord spoke with each

other, and the Lord listened to what they said. In his presence, a

scroll of remembrance was written to record the names of those who

feared him and always thought about the honor of his name." The word

"listened" could be translated, "to prick the ear, to bend down." When

we speak of the things of God, He bends down to listen.

Fellowship is praying together, serving together, giving, and yes,

even growing older together, dying, and going to heaven. It is what we

do together as the family of God.

And fellowship with God and fellowship with others go together. When

you are walking with God, then you will want to be with God's people.

And if you don't want to be with God's people, then maybe you are not

walking with God as you ought to. Because I have found that the closer

I am to God, the more I want to be around godly people, and the more I

want to influence others to live godly lives.

May God Bless In 2010

In Your light we see light. Psalm 36:9 (NKJV)

An important spiritual principle is in play here in Psalm 36:9. It tells us that in the light of God's presence, we are able to see light. We all have a tendency to focus on God's benefits and blessings instead of Him. It's just a part of our natural bent to want His direction, His wisdom, and His guidance-more than we want Him.

However, notice what we see in this Psalm. We see that it's only when we're in God's presence, when we're in His light, that we're able to see light. To put it another way, it's our proximity to the Lord that determines the extent to which we can enjoy and experience His benefits and blessings.

The lesson to be learned is that we need to focus on the Lord first. When we do, all of His benefits and blessings will be there for our enjoyment. When we're in close communion with the Light of the World, we won't lack for illumination. When we're in close proximity with the Prince of Peace, our peace won't be in short supply. The same goes for the God of All Comfort, the Father of Mercies, and the God of all Grace. Comfort, mercy, and grace will be in abundance when we're by God's side.

God is always greater than the benefits that come from belonging to Him. We need to make sure we're not chasing after these things without first pursuing His presence. When we pursue God, all we will ever need will be added to our lives (Mathew 6:33).
Lord, train our hearts to seek You before seeking Your blessings. Keep us focused on You and mindful of the fact that it's only in Your presence that we're able to receive all You desire to give us.

Think about it…
What does this passage reveal to me about God?
What does this passage reveal to me about myself?
Based on this, what changes do I need to make?
What is my prayer for today?
Blessings Forever!

Loving Beyond the Natural

Rev John MulQueen
May 10, 2010
“And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing" (I Corinthians 13:3).
As Christians, our strongest testimony is a reflection of God’s love in our lives. Above all else, we are called to love. In order for us to love in this manner, we must allow Jesus’ love to flow through us. Love can do no good if it is kept bottled up; it is meant to be shared and poured out on every area of our life. In the bottle, love grows stale and stagnant. Poured out, it becomes a living, thriving light that draws people to God.
There are many things in this life that will distract, frustrate, hurt, and irritate us. The only way to truly overcome them is to spend quiet time with our Savior, learning to understand His heart and being a vessel of His love. We may be mistreated, but as Jesus Christ said while hanging on the cross, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.” He was the greatest example of love – can we do any less?
In fact, He said if we do not forgive, which is an act of love, we cannot expect our Heavenly Father to forgive us. Remember that it is not just the lost biker that needs the love of Jesus Christ. God’s kind of love must start within our home, then within our chapters and then to those He has called to service.

Blessings Forever !
