1 Kings Chapter 19 - Elijah Vs AhabThere is so much to learn in chapter 19 about how God calls His servants. I believe He first breaks them down in humility. A servant has to be humble for God to use him. So with that thought we begin the study of Elijah Vs Ahab & Jezebel in chapter 19 of 1 Kings.1 Kings 19:4But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O...

Jesus - the Rock of Offense

01/22/09 10:36:48PM, by Ken Rich

There is a foundation (a rock) spoken of in Scripture - which is Christ. I once had a Messianic Jew try to tell me that Eph. 2:20 teaches that the Church is built on the apostles and prophets, rather than Christ. Although he claimed to follow Yeshua, his Jesus was just another prophet, less than divine, and for him the New Covenant did not supersede the Covenant with Moses. However, Paul tells the Ephesian believers that they are being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets...

In the 19th chapter of 1 Kings we find King Ahab telling his wife Jezebel what Elijah had done to her prophets of Baal. How he slaughtered them with the sword. Jezebel sent a message to Elijah and heres what she said;1 Kings 19:2 - 32 Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.3 And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beer-sheba, which...

After being held and protected by God for over 3 years, God instructs Elijah to see Ahab, and God would send rain. 1 Kings 18:1 And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth. The third year. In the New Testament it is said there was no rain "for the space of three years and six months." The early rain fell in our March, the latter rain in our October. Though Ahab might...

PART FOUR ELIJAH VS AHAB!Again, There is much to learn as to how God uses His servant to fulfill His will and serve justice on Ahab & Jezebel.(1 Kings 19:11-21) 11 The LORD said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by." Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12...

This is the beginning of a 3 part Bible Study about Elijah and Ahab. Ahab wasnt a good King, in fact he was married to Jezebel who wasnt even an Israelite, but a Sidonian, and served Baal. Anyway, Elijah came to Ahab and told him that there wasnt going to be any rain until Elijah aid it would rain. With Ahab married to Jezebel, who worshipped Baal. I can imagine the double take Elijah had, knowing that Jezebel was so wicked and would probably try to kill Elijah. Guess what? God knew that and...

Are we Saved by Faith or Works?

07/13/08 09:55:49PM, by Ken Rich

Are we Saved by Faith or Works? What is salvation by grace? Most of us have heard the phrase but how many have truly understood? We are saved by Jesus himself - who applies his righteousness to us as an act of grace (unmerited favor). This is technically called justification. Most Christians agree with this concept, but the relationship of works to faith is often disputed.  Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the...

What's in a Name?

03/13/09 02:49:16PM, by Ken Rich

Some people, in their desire to honor and show respect for God, have turned to the Sacred Name movement. While their desire to please God is commendable, this may not be the best approach. God is called by many names in the Bible. El, Elohim, Adonai, Ehyeh-Asher-Ehyeh, YHWH, Shaddai, Zebaot, Adir, Avinu Malkenu, Boreh, Ehyeh asher Ehyeh, Elohei Avraham, Elohei Yitzchak ve Elohei Ya`aqov, El ha-Gibbor, Emet, and I could continue. To make matters even more confusing, there are...

Why Does God Allow Suffering?

09/30/11 01:29:24PM, by Ken Rich

Why does God allow suffering? Theologians and philosophers have struggled with this question for ages. After all, if God is all-powerful and all-knowing, can't he prevent or stop it? For some people, this is a stumbling block to faith, and they never get past it.  I would not be so presumptuous as to claim an authoritative answer that others have missed. However, I do think there are some insights into this mystery, that God has provided in his Word.  The problem of...

The Way, The Truth, and The Life

09/06/17 03:43:19PM, by Zack Martin

JESUS OVERCOMES THE WORLD! The Way, The Truth, and The Life. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. I. He is the TRUTH, as fulfilling all the prophecies of a Savior; believing which, sinners come by him the WAY. A. He is the LIFE, by those life-giving Spirit the dead in sin are quickened. 1. Nor can any man draw high God as a Father, who is not quickened by Him as the LIFE, and taught by Him as the TRUTH, to come by...

"The idol of the desolator," or "the idol that causeth desolation." Abomination refers especially to such idolatry only as is perpetrated by apostates from Jehovah. 2 Kings 21:1-7 2 He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, following the detestable practices of the nations the LORD had driven out before the Israelites. 3 He rebuilt the high places his father Hezekiah had destroyed; he also erected altars to Baal and made an Asherah pole, as Ahab king of Israel had done. He bowed down to all the...

Heavenly music and Heavenly mission

07/26/09 11:20:04PM, by Donald James Parker

I found a link to the Sid Roth show where I watched Theresa Griffith Hurlbert perform on her flute and sing. She has an anointing of prophecy and healing. I was hooked. I visited their website and downloaded two of their albums. I spent the next several weeks listening to those CD's over and over. It was great music to work to since I do mental work and having words sometimes interferes with my thought processes (especially since I like to sing along). To put it succinctly, I really like this...
