EXTRACT FROM DOUG COPP'S ARTICLE ON 'THE TRIANGLE OF LIFE

 

My name is Doug Copp I am the Rescue Chief and Disaster Manager of the American Rescue Team International (ARTI ), the world's most experienced rescue team. The information in this article will save lives in an earthquake.

 

I have crawled inside 875 collapsed buildings, worked with rescue teams from 60 countries, founded rescue teams in several countries, and I am a member of many rescue teams from many countries. I was the United Nations expert in Disaster Mitigation for two years, and have worked at every major disaster in the world since 1985, except for simultaneous disasters.

 

The first building I ever crawled inside of was a school in Mexico City during the 1985 earthquake. Every child was under its desk. Every child was crushed to the thickness of their bones. They could have survived by lying down next to their desks in the aisles. It was obscene -- unnecessary

 

Simply stated, when buildings collapse, the weight of the ceilings falling upon the objects or furniture inside crushes these objects, leaving a space or void next to them - NOT under them. This space is what I call the 'triangle of life'. The larger the object, the stronger, the less it will compact. The less the object compacts, the larger the void, the greater the probability that the person who is using this void for safety will not be injured. The next time you watch collapsed buildings, on television, count the 'triangles' you see formed. They are everywhere. It is the most common shape you will see in a collapsed building

 

TIPS FOR EARTHQUAKE SAFETY

 

1) Most everyone who simply 'ducks and covers' when building collapse are crushed to death. People who get under objects, like desks or cars, are crushed.

 

2) Cats, dogs and babies often naturally curl up in the fetal position. You should too in an earthquake. It is a natural safety/survival instinct. You can survive in a smaller void. Get next to an object, next to a sofa, next to a bed, next to a large bulky object that will compress slightly but leave a void next to it.

 

3) Wooden buildings are the safest type of construction to be in during an earthquake. Wood is flexible and moves with the force of the earthquake. If the wooden building does collapse, large survival voids are created. Also, the wooden building has less concentrated, crushing weight. Brick buildings will break into individual bricks. Bricks will cause many injuries but less squashed bodies than concrete slabs.

 

4) If you are in bed during the night and an earthquake occurs, simply roll off the bed. A safe void will exist around the bed. Hotels can achieve a much greater survival rate in earthquakes, simply by posting a sign on the back of the door of every room telling occupants to lie down on the floor, next to the bottom of the bed during an earthquake.

 

5) If an earthquake happens and you cannot easily escape by getting out the door or window, then lie down and curl up in the fetal position next to a sofa, or large chair.

 

6) Most everyone who gets under a doorway when buildings collapse is killed. How? If you stand under a doorway and the doorjamb falls forward or backward you will be crushed by the ceiling above. If the door jam falls sideways you will be cut in half by the doorway. In either case, you will be killed!

 

7) Never go to the stairs. The stairs have a different 'moment of frequency' (they swing separately from the main part of the building). The stairs and remainder of the building continuously bump into each other until structural failure of the stairs takes place. The people who get on stairs before they fail are chopped up by the stair treads - horribly mutilated. Even if the building doesn't collapse, stay away from the stairs. The stairs are a likely part of the building to be damaged. Even if the stairs are not collapsed by the earthquake, they may collapse later when overloaded by fleeing people. They should always be checked for safety, even when the rest of the building is not damaged.

 

8) Get near the outer walls of buildings or outside of them if possible - It is much better to be near the outside of the building rather than the interior. The farther inside you are from the outside perimeter of the building the greater the probability that your escape route will be blocked.

 

9) People inside of their vehicles are crushed when the road above falls in an earthquake and crushes their vehicles; which is exactly what happened with the slabs between the decks of the Nimitz Freeway. The victims of the San Francisco earthquake all stayed inside of their vehicles. They were all killed. They could have easily survived by getting out and sitting or lying next to their vehicles. Everyone killed would have survived if they had been able to get out of their cars and sit or lie next to them. All the crushed cars had voids 3 feet high next to them, except for the cars that had columns fall directly across them.

 

10) I discovered, while crawling inside of collapsed newspaper offices and other offices with a lot of paper, that paper does not compact. Large voids are found surrounding stacks of paper.

 

The entire world is experiencing natural calamities so be prepared!

 

'We are but angels with one wing, it takes two to fly'

 

In 1996 we made a film, which proved my survival methodology to be correct. The Turkish Federal Government, City of Istanbul , University of Istanbul Case Productions and ARTI cooperated to film this practical, scientific test. We collapsed a school and a home with 20 mannequins inside. Ten mannequins did 'duck and cover,' and ten mannequins I used in my 'triangle of life' survival method. After the simulated earthquake collapse we crawled through the rubble and entered the building to film and document the results. The film, in which I practiced my survival techniques under directly observable, scientific conditions , relevant to building collapse, showed there would have been zero percent survival for those doing duck and cover.

 

There would likely have been 100 percent survivability for people using my method of the 'triangle of life.' This film has been seen by millions of viewers on television in Turkey and the rest of Europe, and it was seen in the USA , Canada and Latin America on the TV program Real TV.

BIBLE-PREACHING TODAY 3/30/2011

The church today, in MOST cases, is an ear-tickling institution... we won't preach anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or makes you leave... not to mention possibly take your tithe, if you don't mind giving, with you! Yes, these pastors/priests/ clergy will have to stand before Almighty God, who is Justice, and give an account for their LUKEWARM messages that they fed their sheep... I can say PRAISE GOD & HALLELUJAH that I go to a church where the pastor doesn't mind allowing the Holy Ghost to step on a few toes... and, in these latter days, when it becomes ILLEGAL to preach Romans 1 or any other message out of the Word of God, he, AND I, will be behind prison walls praising God and singing with the angels for the opportunity to witness where we are!!! I am not ashamed of the Gospel &, as I become more Christ-like daily, see that the rebel in Him is in me!!! No mamby-pamby doctrine (man-made rules, just like the Pharisees did to the people in the time of Jesus!) will ever take the place of the Truth! If it did, then why did He die for us!!! I pray that you'll preach in the streets, under the bridges, by the river, in the prison & not WORRY so much about those shepherds that will not be entering the Kingdom of God. The Way is narrow... Praise God that He, through His Holy Spirit, has opened our eyes to the Truth!! But we cannot sit down in worry of the things that are to come... JUST PREACH... if they don't receive the Gospel as it is presented, then kick off the dirt on your sandals & move on to the next bridge, river or prison! Justice will prevail! Watch as it unfolds... God bless you, my brothers & sisters! You are in my prayers & until He comes again, keep your eyes on the eastern sky!!!

Going thru some stuff (emotional) regarding seeing my granddaughters & I've been told that I am selfish & "It's not all about you"... So, I am centering in on what the Lord wants me to do & taking care of each day as it comes...I can't remember my folks ever asking to see my girls, they just did... but I am not to get my feelings hurt... I cannot live on my feelings... lol! Or I'd be in a real fix!! God showed me in His Word that Jesus took all my hurt feelings, insults & offenses (Rom 15:3), not just my sin & sicknesses... Do you get that out of that Scripture? Jesus just wants me to live a joyful, victorious life thru Him... then what do I do with emotions? I cannot act like I'm not disappointed (God would KNOW that was a lie, and I don't want Him disappointed in me!)

 

I really shouldn't be going on like this, but it seems to help to get my feelings out..

2013 UPDATE

Still only see Granddaughters once in a while, but now they're old enough to call Mema!!

Now I have a new grandbaby... a Grandson! Born 1/14/13 in Kyle TX... a long way from me! My daughter emails me pictures, via her cell phone, every day! What a blessing!!!.

SOCIAL NETWORKING... HONESTY 7/7/11

Well, it has become extremely obvious to me that "Social Networking" can be a great way to meet people... only problem seems to be HONESTY. Most people I have met over the past year+ have seemed to be "real"... but there's always a nagging suspicion about whether the person IS who they say they are, or are they all sociopaths trying to worm their way in to someone's heart and life.

After dealing with my last, and I mean that... LAST, husband... I truly fell for all the baloney he fed me. He said he LOVED me and to him, I was beautiful... only to find out that he chose to go back to prison... he did everything he could to get "caught"... He did meth and screwed everything in town that did the meth with him. Honestly, I don't believe it started out to be so destructive, but as a Believer and Follower of Jesus Christ, I watched the enemy take him captive, and there was nothing I could do to stop it. You see, free will plays a huge part in what and who we become. If you purposely choose evil, then evil will overcome you... and without complete knowledge of our weapon for spiritual warfare, God's Holy Word, the sWORD>, the enemy will fill you with all forms of deceitful ways.

I chose to set him free, after I witnessed him under the influence of evil, and with her with no remorse as to what he was doing to me emotionally... and one year, to the date, of the divorce, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Unfortunately, that is his lifestyle. He had spent the majority of his life in institutional settings, and the freedom he had earned became more than he could handle. Too many choices, too many decisions... it was easier... to have all your decisions made for you is easier, right?

Oh, well... back to the topic... HONESTY. Why in the world would someone come online and present themselves as a good person, God-fearing, sensitive, good cook, loving outdoors, etc etc etc... whatever they've read about who they are corresponding with in order to get into a "relationship"? Does that really work? For many, it has. I have several friends who have been duped into believing that they've met "the one," only to find out, sooner rather than later (praise God), that "the one" has been lying all along.

Love-at-first-write doesn't seem to be a way to come to KNOW someone, neither is love-at-first-sight. Everyone keeps a secret, it seems. Something about themselves, or their past, that would destroy the chance of a real relationship for anything other than using that other person, always seems to be lurking in the background.

Some have traveled miles in order to meet someone face-to-face just to try to "see" if that other person is for real. I must say that it seems to be true, if it's "too good to be true," it probably is! This is a sad situation. It destroys an individual's ability to trust... even a person who is actually "genuine" will have a really hard time because of all of the deception of others.

What kind of a world have we created? We are created in God's image and our words form our world. Think negative, get negative. Think positive, get positive. But what about being positively negative? Certain that the one wanting to "know" you is probably lying to you... creative writing skills at their best! What will our society come to... noone being able to trust? I don't know... but I will say that I have become leary of getting too close to anyone.

ENEMY'S PLEASURE 7/13/11

WHY WOULD CHRISTIANS ENTERTAIN THE ENEMY?

WHY WOULD THEY ALLOW HIM TO USE THEM TO HURT OTHERS?

THIS HAPPENS IN EVERY CHRISTIAN SETTING THAT EXISTS.

WHEN YOU ASK JESUS TO FORGIVE YOU OF YOUR SINS...

WHEN YOU ASK JESUS TO COME INTO YOUR HEART...

YOU BECOME A NEW CREATION, THE "OLD" HAS PASSED AWAY!

THEN WHY DOES THIS CONTINUE?

GOD IS LOVE AND YOU KNOW YOU BELONG TO HIM

IF YOU HAVE LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER...

IF YOU ARE STILL HATING, YOU DO NOT BELONG TO GOD!

BUT, FEAR NOT... YOU CAN TURN THIS AROUND

AND PUT SATAN UNDER YOUR FEET, WHERE HE BELONGS...

AND GOD, WHEN YOU ASK, WILL FORGIVE YOU

AND RESTORE YOU AS HIS CHILD!

WOULDN'T YOU RATHER CHOOSE TO BE

A CHILD OF GOD, RATHER THAN

A USELESS LUMP OF FLESH,

USED & ABUSED BY THE ENEMY,

ONLY TO SPEND ETERNITY IN THE FIRE THAT

NEVER GOES OUT... AND YET IT

WILL BE THE DARKEST PLACE

YOU WILL EVER ENCOUNTER!

NOTHING THIS WORLD HAS TO OFFER

IS WORTH GIVING IN TO THE ENEMY!!!

ANIMALS IN HEAVEN 7/19/11

A man once told me there would be no animals in heaven, and he even quoted Scripture to back it up. He quoted:

"Who knows if the spirit of a man rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?" (Eccl 3:21)

But I told him that it was necessary to read more:

I also thought, "As for men, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals. Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both. As one dies, so does the other. All have the same breath; man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is meaningless. All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return. Who knows if the spirit of a man rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?" (Eccl 3:18-21)

Since Jesus will ride the white horse, and the lamb will lie down with the lion... I'm pretty sure that all that we have been blessed with here on earth, for our enjoyment, will also be with us in heaven.

SPIRITUAL BATTLE IN THE DAYS AHEAD 8/3/11

Choose this day whom you will serve...



 

Joshua 24:15 "But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household. we will serve the Lord."

 

Then, choose to "put on" the whole armor of God...

 

Eph 6:12-18 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

 

When you are battling your thoughts, you know who is behind it! Or maybe you don't... Satan's battleground is the mind! He is not able to read your thoughts like God does, but he will listen to your words and use them to put negative, destructive thoughts into your mind. Right now, he's telling you "What does she know? You think for yourself!" Don't be deceived! If I had known this in my earlier years, it might have caused me to have come to this place sooner! Remember, we are victorious... We have a Book that tells us what to do and what to think on...

 

Phil 4:8-9 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable -- if anything is excellent or praisworthy -- think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me -- put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

 

And our thoughts, we are given instruction on what to do with negative thoughts ...

 

2 Cor 10:5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

 

For now, with Christ living in us, we have the very mind of Christ...

 

1 Cor 2:16b But we have the mind of Christ.

 

And with Him in us, we have hope...

 

Col 1:27 To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

 

Paul tells us how to handle hard times and not to give in to the despair or downward spirals of feelings...

 

Phil 1:6 ...being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

 

Now, instead of turning your focus inward, turn it outward to the world who has no hope... the ones that are going through the hardest times of their lives...

 

Eph 4:31-32 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

 

James 1:2-8, 12  Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.... Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.

 

It truly is all about choice. No one, not even God, will force you to choose Him. He wants you to choose to love Him as He has chosen to love you! Knowing that when you choose the Lord, the enemy, or Satan, will become your worst nightmare! And your only means of survival will be to know / learn your weapon... the sWORD>... the Word of God. Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness wirh Word, but He countered with whole word... He was not deceived. God is on your side, but it is all up to you. Develop the personal relationship that He wants with you... develop this relationship by talking to Him and spending time with Him... learning all He desires you to know. He wants all of us to spend eternity with Him. And that's FOREVER... it's up to each individual person to make that choice! Find a Bible-teaching church. Give your testimony -- what the Lord has done to bring you to Him... if they are right with the Lord, you will be welcomed and loved and nourished with the Word. If they turn up their noses and look down on you, don't take it personal... kick the dust off your feet and go to another church! Ask God to direct your steps... because you've asked, He will!!! Any church that does not accept a repentant sinner will not have God in the house!

 

One more thing: Jeremiah 29:11 is a promise: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

 

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. And that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge -- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.

 

Now for those of us who claim to have Christ within in us, we must stand, and not be moved, by circumstances beyond our control. We cannot expect any person, place or thing to rescue us from the times we are facing... only Christ in us, the hope of glory. Let there be no grumbling on your lips that might cause a weaker saint to stumble. Our future depends on how we handle situations in these times. So what if you're not having "fun"... it's all in the perspective! Take a break and get alone with the Lord. Pour out your heart to Him... He knows what's going on, but He also knows what's ahead. If you grumble and complain about the little, when it gets even worse than you can imagine, will you be able to stand? Just saying...
