A DEAD TREE BORE ETERNAL LIFE
A tree gave up its life/ as it was cut down
And shaped into a cross/ on which men would die
But this tree had the privilege/ to bear up Jesus Christ
Who's blood brought eternal life/ to those that would apply
CHORUS
That tree of Calvary/ brought pain and agony
To Jesus Christ/ who on it was crucified
But that tree that was dead/ brought eternal life instead
To those that took Jesus' blood/ and had it applied
---------------------------------------------------------
The tree that was now dead/ now bore eternal life
In the form of a man/ known as Jesus Christ
He shed His blood to provide/ forgiveness for all sin
So man could be, forever free/ for He paid the whole price
REPEAT CHORUS
BRIDGE
That tree would bear no blame/ for it had no choice
But it bore up man's shame/ that was piled on Jesus Christ
REPEAT CHORUS
