I Want To See You
The sun warms my shoulders, the birds sing above
But I sit in the darkness away from Your love
There’s people around me – but they pass me by
Too busy with living to hear my heart’s cry
They tell me You’re passing – I call out Your name
It’s my desperate moment to be rid of the shame
I say when You ask me what I want You to do
“Won’t You open my eyes Lord – I want to see You”
There’s some who would hinder the cry of my soul
Embarrassed by weakness – I’m confined to my role
You stop what You’re doing and call out to me
One touch from the Healer and then I can see
You’ve taken my darkness and turned it to light
Corrected what’s wrong and made everything right
The past doesn’t matter – and all I’ve been through
Just serves to remind me – I want to see You
My friends and my family don’t want to believe
The hope and the mercy that I could receive
But there’s no denying the changes in me
Once bound by the darkness – but now I am free
Lord I want to serve you whatever the cost
A beacon of hope to a world that is lost
Though life’s so uncertain I know You’ll be true
And show me the Way when I need to see You
(‘Cause) You’ve taken my darkness and turned it to light
(You’ve) Corrected what’s wrong and made everything right
(Now) The past doesn’t matter – and all I’ve been through
Just serves to remind me – how I want to see You
“Won’t You open my eyes Lord – I just want to see You”
