Guanabana is the Brazilian name for Soursop. It is a native tree of the countries of central and southern America and the Caribbean. The scientific name of this evergreen, broadleaf and flowering tree is Annona muricata. Guanabana is also reported to grow in the countries of Africa that lie in the sub-Saharan region near the tropics. In recent times it is also grown in some parts of Pacific islands and Southeastern Asia.
