Here is my favorite passage from the book, Desire of Ages by E. G. White. I had already put it to music years ago, but never was completely satisfied with it, so I thought I'd give it another shot. Hopefully, this version will resonate with people where the other may not have as much. In any case, the message in this passage is so hopeful and inspiring and speaks to a maturity in faith and love that seems hardly possible in the sinful world, and yet, God's biddings are enabling!

All true obedience comes from the heart.
It was heart work with Christ.
And if we consent, He will so identify
Himself with our thoughts and aims,
So blend our hearts and minds into conformity to His will,
That when obeying Him we shall be but carrying Gout
Our own impulses.

The will, refined and sanctified,
Will find its highest delight
In doing His service, it will find its highest delight.

When we know God as it is our privilege to know Him,
Our life will be a life of continmal obedience.

Through an appreciation of
The character of Christ,
Through communion with God
Sin will become hateful to us.
