Inigo Montoya Series: The Still Small Voice

Category: People & Blogs
Duration: 00:12:42
Description:
God spoke to Elijah in a “still small voice.” But what exactly was that still small voice? Was it a hunch? Words whispered inside of Elijah’s head? Does God speak to us today in a still small voice? The belief that God speaks to us today in some still small voice is almost universally accepted by evangelicals today...but should it be?

The Honourable Christian and Pastor Justin Peters posted this video and it was concerning hearing of a voice as written in scripture. This particular scripture of 1 kings 19:12 talks about Elijah a great prophet hearing an audible voice just like when we hear somebody speak and it’s audible to us. Perhaps Justin is referring to prosperity preachers or people that take it out of context and think that voice you hear inside your head is God speaking to you. So Justin is clarifying this biblical verse. I think it was last week I was looking at this particular verse. Elijah calls down fire from heaven that consumed the altar of the Baal the false prophets and even the water that they had set aside. Then Elijah also destroyed those false prophets. It’s a very interesting biblical passage. Do people still worship Baal  today. Of course!!! God has people that won’t Bow a knee to Baal.

Justin does say that the king James Bible is the only Bible that uses/translates the word “voice”. And he explains some of the other translations how they change the word voice as it has been translated into another word.

Take a look at the scripture particularly on the right as it talks about the voice. So Elijah heard a voice. It says there was an earthquake and fire but the Lord was not in them. He Elijah heard an audible voice.

1 KINGS 19
