I am a disabled minister with 40 years full time service for my Lord. I am a Licensed and Ordained Minister of Southern Baptist Faith. I have an Associates degree from Wallace Community College in Dothan, Alabama. and attended Baptist Bible Institute in Graceville, Florida (Majored in Theology with a Minor in Music). The name of the college has changed to Florida Baptist College. I have served 12 Churches in my 35 years of service. I served 11 as Minister of Music and Youth Pastor, and I also pastored one church for 4 years. I became disabled in 2006 at the age of 56 years old. I was prescribe a power chair in 2009 to get around in and it was then that I felt led to start a new ministry with Cds. My voice is about the only part of my body left that is any good, so I started recording Cds as a tool to witness for my Lord. I have just released my new CD "From The Heart - Zack Martin." It is my project for 2015 and all of the songs on it are original songs written by my dear friend Marty Whidden with a few co- written by him and Gladys Mitchell, but all are original and given to me before Marty passed away.
One song in particular "A True Master's Degree," I am releasing to radio stations as a single. It is one of Marty's last songs and I fell in love with it.
Track 1 is simply Gladys Mitchell's tetimony of how "God Has Built a Bridge For You to Cross" came to be.
Track 2 is the song as I do it. There were many rewrites on how I did it, but I believe it turn out very well.
Track 3 is "A Song in The Night" also co-written by Gladys & Marty. It also had several rewrites to make it right for me.
Track 4 is the song "I'm Gonna Sing a Song," with Marty and his wife, Robbie, helping me. I love it because of their participation on it.
Thrack 5 is the song "United We Stand, Divided We Fall." Marty wrote this song right after the 911 attack on the twin towers in New York. It is one of the first songs of his I have recorded. It is on my first CD, "From The Cross Through The Garden To The Tomb," also.
Track 6 is "From The Cross, Through The Garden, To The Tomb." This song is well written with a great message in it.
Track 7 is "I Know Where I'm Going." This one is one of Marty's most loved songs. and has been received very well in my concerts.
Track 8 is "So Busy Preaching." I ask Marty where it came from because Marty was also a licensed minister, and he said it was a reminder for him to keep the right attitude in his ministry.
Track 9 is "Reach For The Bible Instead Of The Bottle," written by Marty for a friend in Texas that had a problem with alcohol. Because of this song, he gave up drinkiog and was saved. He died shortly after this.
Track 10 is "Heaven Came Down & Memories Filled My Soul," co-written by Marty & Gladys about church reunions or Homecomings. Good Song.
Track 11 is "Jesus, The Only Name That Saves." I love this son g because it is a great wittness for Jesus' salvation of ones soul.
Track 12 is the song "A True Master's Degree," the song I am releasing to radio stations as a single. Please take a close listen to it.
