"QUALITY PRAYER" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Quality Prayer

Matthew 6:7, 'But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.'

MATTHEW 6:5-8

Some of the most effective prayers are the shortest prayers. Jesus said, 'Peace, be still,' and the wind and the waves ceased (Mk. 4:39). He said, 'Lazarus, come forth,' and Lazarus came back from the dead (Jn. 11:43-44).

Today, there is a new emphasis on the quantity of prayer instead of the quality of prayer. Jesus never advocated long prayers, and there are only a few instances where Jesus prayed long prayers. This is not to say that communion with God is not important. It certainly is, but formal prayer is only one part of our communion with the...

THE WAGES OF SIN

I HAVE BEEN ASKED WHY I SAID SIN IS NOT AN ISSUE ANYMORE.  I DIDN'T MEAN IT THAT WAY.  SIN IS ALWAYS AN ISSUE AND DOES MATTER BECAUSE THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH.  ROMANS 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Our Hope Is In Eternity

Luke 21:18-19 'But there shall not an hair of your head perish. In your patience possess ye your souls.'

LUKE 21:15-22

Jesus says the disciples were betrayed by parents, brothers, relatives, friends, and some disciples were even put to death. Yet, the amazing statement of Christ is that not a hair of their head will perish. The context of this statement speaks of some of the disciples dying, so this is not a promise that no physical harm will ever come. This could only refer to the resurrection.

The Greek word for 'resurrection' means 'a standing or rising up.' The resurrection is a major theme of New Testament teaching. Out of the 13 sermons in the book of Acts, 11 stress or imply the...

"DO YOU DESERVE HEAVEN?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

DO YOU DESERVE HEAVEN?

IF YOU STOOD BEFORE GOD TODAY AND HE ASKED YOU WHAT YOU HAD DONE TO DESERVE TO BE THERE, WHAT WOULD YOU TELL HIM?  SOME OF YOU WOULD START TELLING HIM OF ALL THE GOOD THINGS YOU HAD BEEN DOING, LIKE GOING TO CHURCH, FEEDING THE POOR, TEACHING SUNDAY SCHOOL, ETC., ETC., ETC.  IF THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A TEST QUESTION, YOU WOULD HAVE FAILED.

WHAT DOES SALVATION MEAN TO YOU?

A LOT OF CHRISTIANS HAVE THE WRONG IDEA ABOUT SALVATION.  THEY BELIEVE THAT IT IS JUST THE WAY TO ESCAPE HELL.  I THINK PEOPLE THAT ARE BORN AGAIN WITH THIS KIND OF SALVATION LOOK AT JESUS AS THE ONE WHO WILL DELIVER THEM, BUT NOT THE ONE WITH WHOM THEY CAN HAVE AN INTIMATE, PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP.  SALVATION IS THE ONLY WAY OF GETTING INTO A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.  WE LOST THE CLOSENESS WHEN ADAM SINNED.  SIN SEPARATED US FROM GOD BUT THROUGH JESUS, THOSE SINS WERE TAKEN AWAY AND NOW WE CAN GO TO GOD DIRECTLY.  IT SAYS IN 1ST CORINTHIANS 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

"MORE THAN JUST WORDS" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

More Than Just Words

Matthew 5:33, 'But let your communication be, Yea, yea: Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.'

MATTHEW 5:33-37

A person who has to swear or make a promise to validate his statements is a person whose word is no good. The thrust of Jesus' teaching here is that we should live in such a manner that no one would ever have to have additional proof that we are telling the truth. Our word should be our bond.

We have all heard the story of the young shepherd boy who cried wolf when there was no wolf until finally no one believed him when the wolf really came. Our lack of integrity in performing our word has the same effect on people today.

Very few people conduct business anymore...

"COMMANDMENTS LEAD TO HAPPINESS" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

Commandments Lead To Happiness

Matthew 5:32, 'But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, save for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.'

MATTHEW 5:31-32

God's commandments are not intended to make us miserable--they're meant for our own happiness. Satan's lie in the Garden of Eden caused Eve to question God's motives behind His command (Genesis 3:5).

Malachi 2:15 says God hates divorce. God doesn't hate the people who divorce. He hates the act of divorce because of the damage it does to people. God loves people.

Today, people see divorce as an easy way out of marital problems. But this is based on the misconception...

A CHRISTIAN LIFE

DO YOU THINK IT IS HARD TO LIVE A CHRISTIAN LIFE?  IT IS IF YOU ARE NOT GIVING ENOUGH ATTENTION TO JESUS.  I KNOW THERE ARE MANY THINGS OUT THERE THAT CAN TEMPT YOU, YOUR FAMILY, JOB, FRIENDS AND ESPECIALLY SATAN.  YOUR JOB IS TO SEE THAT THEY DO NOT DISTRACT YOU FROM KEEPING YOUR EYES UPON JESUS.

A LOT OF PEOPLE THINK THAT CHRISTIANS DON'T HAVE FUN.  I HAVE MORE FUN AT A GOOD BIBLE STUDY CLASS THEN I EVER DID AT A POKER GAME.  I HAVE MORE FUN IN CHURCH THAN I EVER DID SITTING IN A BAR DRINKING.  SINCE AT ONE TIME I PLAYED POKER...

OUR SINS AND SICKNESSES ARE NO MORE

HAVE YOU EVER REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT WHAT JESUS WENT THROUGH ON THE DAY OF HIS CRUCIFIXION?  LET'S JUST LOOK AT A FEW THINGS.  HE KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE BAD. LOOK AT WHAT HE SAYS IN MATTHEW 26, THE THREE TIMES HE PRAYED.

Spiritual Fitness

Matthew 5:29, 'And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast [it] from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not [that] thy whole body should be cast into hell.'

MATTHEW 5:23-30

Is Jesus advocating dismembering of our bodies? Quite the contrary. He is drawing on the universal drive within every person of self preservation to make a point. If you value your body highly enough that you would never sacrifice one of its parts, then you should esteem your spiritual well being much higher.

Ever since the fall of Adam and Eve, man's priorities have been misplaced. Great effort is put into preserving our physical life while our spiritual condition is often...
