"YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE STRESSED" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2020-09-19

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE STRESSED

HAVE YOU EVER BEEN REALLY STRESSED?  I KNOW YOU HAVE, BUT HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT HOW STRESSED JESUS' DISCIPLES MUST HAVE BEEN? THEY WATCH JESUS BEING ARRESTED, BEATEN AND CRUCIFIED.  ALL OF THEIR HOPES AND DREAMS WERE ROOTED IN HIM AND THEN HE WAS DEAD AND SEEMINGLY DEFEATED.  NOW DO YOU THINK THEY WERE STRESSED?

THE CONFUSION, HURT AND PAIN FROM THAT ALONE WAS PROBABLY UNBEARABLE BUT THEN CAME REMEMBERING ALL THAT HAD HAPPENED.  I AM SURE THEY WERE THINKING, "WE HAVE MADE SUCH SACRIFICES, LEAVING OUR FAMILIES AND BUSINESSES AND RISKING IT ALL ON THE BELIEF THAT JESUS WAS THE MESSIAH.  MIGHT IT ALL HAVE BEEN IN VAIN?" "HOW LONG WILL IT BE BEFORE THEY COME AND GET US?"  YES, I THINK THEY WERE VERY STRESSED.  DO YOU THINK THIS COMPARES TO YOUR STRESS?  I DON'T THINK SO.

WHY ALL THE STRESS?  I THINK IT WAS BECAUSE THAT EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE WITH JESUS SOME THREE YEARS, THEY HADN'T REALLY LISTENED TO HIM.  LOOK WHAT HE TOLD THEM THE NIGHT BEFORE HIS CRUCIFIXION.  (LUKE 18:31-34 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again. And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.)  DON'T YOU THINK THAT THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN AT THE TOMB ON THAT THIRD DAY IF THEY HAD UNDERSTOOD  THIS. AFTER ALL THIS, HE ALSO TOLD THEM IN JOHN 14:1 "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me."  HE KNEW WHAT THEY WOULD THINK AND HOW THEY WOULD ACT AND HE WAS TRYING TO COMFORT THEM.

WHEN CRISIS COMES, AND IT WILL, DO WHAT JESUS SAYS TO DO.  DON'T DWELL ON THE BAD BUT LOOK TOWARD JESUS.  HE IS YOUR ANSWER. HE HAS NOT BROUGHT YOU THIS FAR TO DROP YOU NOW.  HE CAN TURN ANYTHING BAD INTO SOMETHING GOOD.  IT IS BETTER IF WE TALK TO HIM FIRST ABOUT WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO AND ASK HIM WHAT HE WANTS US TO DO. HOWEVER, EVEN IF SOMETIMES WE DON'T, I AM SURE HE WILL STILL TURN THINGS AROUND FOR US IF WE JUST LET HIM AND TRUST HIM.  HE LOVES US MORE THAN WE CAN EVER IMAGINE AND HE CAN TAKE ALL OUR STRESS AWAY.  I WILL PUT THIS HERE AGAIN AND DWELL ON IT AND BELIEVE.  "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me."  THAT IS ALL HE WANTS US TO DO IS TO BELIEVE IN HIM.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"MARRIAGE IS FOR THIS LIFE" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2020-09-19

Marriage Is For This Life

Luke 20:33-34 'Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife. And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:'

LUKE 20:27-40

It is very doubtful that the situation that the Sadducees were relating ever took place. It is more probable that they were stating a hypothetical case to complicate the understanding of the resurrection and thereby discredit it.

If you accept their basic supposition (marriage continues in heaven), then their reasoning was correct. It would not be possible to administer marriage in heaven with multiple mates as their story described. Their reasoning wasn't flawed, but rather the 'facts' that their reasoning was based on were not scriptural.

The scriptures speak of two becoming 'one flesh' in marriage, and angels are not flesh. Paul said, 'Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God' (1 Cor. 15:50). Therefore, marriage is an earthly institution limited to flesh and blood mortals and will not exist in heaven. Marriage, as is death, is temporary for mortals while they are on earth. This is why a person whose mate has died, is free to remarry. Marriage pertains only to this life.

That is not to say that a couple who have loved each other deeply here on earth will love each other less in heaven. God forbid. They will love each other infinitely more, but it will be God's 'agape' love (not romantic love) and it will not be limited to just one person. We can be sure that heaven will surpass any expectations that we may have so that no one will be disappointed.

Today, many people use logical reasoning to try to discredit God's Word. But Jesus said, 'They err because they do not know the scriptures.' Therefore, their arguments have no merit; only reasoning based on scripture has any merit.

WE MUST KNOW GOD'S WORD TO BE EFFECTIVE

DO YOU REMEMBER THE STORY IN LUKE 5 ABOUT JESUS TELLING PETER TO GO OUT INTO THE DEEP WATER AND DROP HIS NETS?  JESUS HAD SEEN THE TWO SHIPS STANDING BY LAKE GENNESARET AND THE FISHERMEN WERE OUT OF THE SHIPS WASHING THEIR NETS. JESUS ENTERED PETER'S SHIP AND ASK HIM TO TAKE IT OUT A LITTLE FROM THE BANK SO HE COULD TEACH THE MULTITUDE.  WHEN HE HAD FINISHED TEACHING IS WHEN HE TOLD PETER TO GO INTO THE DEEP WATER AND DROP HIS NETS.  PETER COMPLAINED THAT THEY HAD BEEN OUT ALL NIGHT AND HADN'T CAUGHT ANYTHING. HOWEVER, PETER WAS OBEDIENT AND DID WHAT JESUS SAID.  HE CAUGHT SO MANY FISH THAT THEIR NETS BROKE AND THEY HAD TO CALL THE OTHER SHIP TO COME AND HELP. THEY FILLED BOTH SHIPS SO MUCH THAT THEY STARTED TO SINK.

JESUS HAD SAID BEFORE THAT HE DIDN'T WANT PEOPLE SPREADING HIS GOSPEL JUST BECAUSE THEY SAW THE MIRACLES HE HAD PREFORMED. THIS IS ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE INSTANCES BUT IT IS A LOT DIFFERENT THIS TIME. THE DISCIPLES WERE GOING TO LEARN FROM JESUS DIRECTLY.  LOOK WHAT IT SAYS IN LUKE 5:9-11 For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.  AFTER SEEING THIS MIRACLE, THE DISCIPLES WERE EVIDENTLY SO IMPRESSED WITH JESUS THAT THEY JUST DROPPED EVERYTHING AND WENT WITH HIM. THEY WANTED TO LEARN MORE OF THIS MAN AND THIS IS WHAT JESUS WANTS OF US,  TO LEARN MORE OF HIM.  HE TELLS US THIS IN MATTHEW 11:29 WHEN HE SAYS "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls."

WE NEED TO BE LIKE THESE DISCIPLES AND NOT LIKE THE MULTITUDE IN JERUSALEM THAT WANTED TO SPREAD THE NEWS OF JESUS JUST BECAUSE THEY SAW A MIRACLE.  WE HAVE TO GET INTO HIS WORD AND LEARN ALL WE CAN SO WE CAN KNOW WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. GOD FORBID THAT WE EVER LEAD SOMEONE ASTRAY BECAUSE WE WERE NOT PREPARED. WOULD YOU WANT THIS TO BE ON YOUR CONSCIENCE?  I AM SURE YOU WOULDN'T SO STUDY GOD'S WORD AND GET PREPARED.  FROM THE WAY THIS OLD WORLD IS GOING TODAY, WE ALL ARE GOING TO NEED IT.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"HEAVEN" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2020-09-18

Heaven

Mark 12:25 'For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.'

The word heaven comes from the Greek word meaning 'the sky; heaven as the abode of God'; by implication, 'happiness; power; an eternity.'

Paul mentioned being caught up into 'the third heaven' in 2 Corinthians 12:2. Since 'the third heaven' exists, there must also be a first and second heaven. The first is probably the atmospheric heaven, the second, the abode of supernatural angelic beings, and the third, the place where God dwells.

God now dwells in the hearts of His people, but He also sits on His throne in heaven. The Lord's commitment to dwell in us and never leave us or forsake us, must be taken as an indication of His great love for us. Heaven has a real temple which is patterned after the Old Testament tabernacle. Saints who die go immediately into heaven and into the presence of God.

Paul had a vision of heaven that made him long to go there. Most people cling to this physical life for selfish reasons. Only when we lose our life (die to self and live for Christ and others) do we truly find out what life is all about. If we seriously thought about what the scriptures teach us about our life with Christ after this physical life, we would all think like Paul. The things prepared for us are so wonderful that we can't totally comprehend them with our finite mind. We need to value our eternal life more and our temporal life less. This would solve many problems and remove a lot of grief.

"THE RESURRECTION POWER" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2020-09-17

The Resurrection Power

Matthew 22:23 'The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,'

The Greek word used here for resurrection means 'a standing or rising up.' The resurrection is a major theme of New Testament teaching. Out of the 13 sermons in the book of Acts, 11 stress or simply mention the resurrection.

Man consists of three parts - a spirit, a soul, and a body (1 Th. 5:23). The body is mortal while the spirit and soul are immortal. At death, man's body goes through the decomposition process and returns to its original elements.

At the resurrection, man's departed soul and spirit are called forth from either heaven or hell. The material elements of the body are raised up, reassembled, and united with the spirit and soul. Thus we have the complete personality of the individual reconstituted. Everyone will be resurrected - some to life, and some to damnation.

The hope of the believer is the resurrection unto life. The natural, earthly, terrestrial, corrupt, weak, mortal, vile body is said to be raised, changed and fashioned into a spiritual, heavenly, celestial, incorrupt, glorious, powerful, and immortal body. This is the completion of everything that has been purchased for us in Christ.

Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:12-17 that if there is no resurrection, then our faith is vain and we are yet in our sins. It is the resurrected life of Jesus that brings spiritual life into us and the resurrection of the body that brings physical regeneration, reconstituting us into the very image of God. The transformation from this physical condition to our glorified bodies will be a huge difference, but the power of God can accomplish it easily. If the Lord can work that miracle, then surely, He can heal our bodies and free us from other bondages.

LOST REVERENCE FOR GOD AND THE BIBLE

DO YOU FEEL STRANGE BEING CALLED GOD'S CHILD?  DO YOU KNOW YOU ARE JOINT HEIRS WITH JESUS?  THE BIBLE TELLS US THAT WE ARE BOTH OF THESE.  LET'S JUST READ WHAT IT SAYS IN ROMANS 8:14-17 "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together."  THE WORD "ABBA" WAS A WORD USED BY THE ROMANS MEANING "FATHER" BUT WE COULD USE IT AS "DADDY".  I KNOW GOD IS MY HEAVENLY FATHER BUT I FIND IT HARD TO CALL HIM DADDY.  IT JUST SOUNDS SO ORDINARY OR COMMONPLACE FOR OUR GREAT HOLY GOD.

I BELIEVE WE HAVE LOST A LOT OF REVERENCE FOR GOD AND THE BIBLE.  WHEN THE SCRIBES WERE WRITING THE TORAH, WHICH IS THE FIRST FIVE BOOKS OF THE BIBLE, ALSO CALLED THE  FIVE BOOKS OF MOSES, THERE WERE A LOT OF THINGS THEY COULD AND COULDN'T DO.  BEFORE BEGINNING A NEW SCROLL, THEY WOULD HAVE TO RECITE A FORMULA DECLARING THEIR INTENT TO WRITE THE SCROLL FOR A HOLY PURPOSE.  TO MAKE SURE THEIR TOOLS WERE FIT FOR THE TASK, THEY WOULD TEST THE QUILL AND INK BY WRITING THE WORD "AMALLEK" ON A PIECE OF PARCHMENT.  THEY WOULD THEN HAVE TO CROSS IT OUT WITH A NUMBER OF STROKES IN ORDER TO FULFILL THE COMMANDMENT OF BLOTTING OUT THE NAME OF AMALEK, A BIBLICAL ENEMY OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE.  THEY COULDN'T WRITE THE SCROLL FROM MEMORY EITHER BUT WOULD HAVE TO REFER TO THE TIKKUN, A CORRECTION GUIDE.  WHENEVER THEY WOULD WRITE THE NAME OF GOD, THEY WOULD FOCUS ON THE TASK BY DECLARING, OUT LOUD, THEIR INTENTIONS TO HONOR GOD BY WRITING HIS HOLY NAME.  NOW DON'T YOU THINK WE HAVE GOTTEN A LITTLE LAX?

WHAT UPSETS ME IS THE FACT THAT ALL THE WORK THAT WENT INTO GIVING US GOD'S WORD, AND ALL THE HARDSHIPS THE TRANSLATORS WENT THROUGH, A LOT OF CHRISTIANS DON'T EVEN READ IT.  WHAT IF YOU HAD TO HIDE TO READ YOUR BIBLE SO YOU WOULDN'T BE JAILED OR EVEN KILLED.  THAT IS WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THIS WORLD RIGHT NOW.  CHERISH YOUR BIBLE.  IT IS THE WORD OF OUR LIVING GOD AND A GUIDE FOR OUR LIVES.  IF MOST OF THE CHRISTIANS WOULD TREAT IT LIKE THEIR CELL PHONES, I BELIEVE WE COULD TURN THIS COUNTRY AROUND IN NO TIME.  GOD IS CALLING, ARE YOU GOING TO ANSWER?

IF WE ARE TRULY GOD'S CHILDREN AND JOINT HEIRS WITH JESUS, THEN WE SHOULD START ACTING LIKE IT.  I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE PROFESSING TO BE CHRISTIANS AND IF I WAS A NON BELIEVER, I CERTAINLY WOULD NOT WANT TO HAVE WHATEVER THEY HAVE . THIS GOES BACK TO WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE OTHER DAY, 1ST THESSALONIANS 5:22 "Abstain from all appearance of evil."  YOU NEVER KNOW WHO MIGHT BE WATCHING.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"BEING FRUITFUL" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2020-09-16

BEING FRUITFUL

ARE YOU BEARING FRUIT?  IF YOU ARE BORN AGAIN YOU SHOULD BE. JESUS SAYS YOU ARE A BRANCH AND HE IS THE VINE. IF YOU ARE NOT ABIDING, OR CONTINUING PERMANENTLY, WHICH IS WHAT ABIDING MEANS, IN THE VINE, THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN BE FRUITFUL.  HERE IS WHAT JESUS SAID IN JOHN 15:4-5 "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."  WE LOOK AT THIS AND SAY, THIS IS GREAT, BUT IS IT?  IT IS IF WE ARE BEARING FRUIT.  WE KNOW THAT JESUS IS ABIDING IN US FROM WHAT HE SAYS ABOVE BUT ARE WE ABIDING IN HIM.  I PUT THE DICTIONARY DESCRIPTION "CONTINUING PERMANENTLY" TO PUT A LITTLE MORE POWER TO THE WORD ABIDE.

AS A BRANCH, IF WE ARE NOT CONTINUING PERMANENTLY IN THE VINE, WE ARE "cast forth as a branch, and is withered." HOWEVER, IF WE DO ABIDE IN HIM THERE ARE REWARDS.  JESUS TELL US THIS IN JOHN 15:7 WHERE HE SAYS "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."

WE NEED TO KEEP HIS WORD STRONG IN OUR HEARTS AND KNOW WHAT HE WANTS US TO DO AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WHAT HE HAS PROMISED. HE TELLS US THIS IN PROVERBS 4:20-22 WHERE IT SAYS "My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh."  IF WE KNOW HIS WORD, THEN WE KNOW HIS WILL AND HE WANTS US TO TELL PEOPLE ABOUT HIM AND WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR US.  HAVE YOU TOLD ANYONE ABOUT HIM THIS WEEK?

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"OUR LIFE BELONGS TO GOD" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2020-09-16

Our Life Belongs To God

Matthew 22:20-21 'And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.'

MATTHEW 22:20-22

The image on the denarius, the only small silver coin acceptable for imperial tax payments, was probably that of Tiberius Caesar (reigned A.D. 14-37). The inscription upon the coin read 'Tiberius Caesar Augustus, Son of the Divine Augustus' with the reverse side reading 'Chief Priest.' This inscription was a claim to divinity and as emperor, the right to be worshiped.

The Jews had tried many times to accuse Jesus on the basis of religious issues and had always failed. Now they approached Him about paying taxes in hopes that His answer might give them the opportunity to deliver Him to Pilate for prosecution.

These Pharisees and Herodians reasoned that any answer that Jesus gave would be wrong. If He approved of the Roman taxes, then He would lose popularity with the masses. If He spoke against the Roman taxes, then the Jews would hand Him over to the Roman government and Pilate would dispose of Him. It looked like they had Jesus trapped. Jesus, however, answered with such simple wisdom that these Pharisees and Herodians were caught in their own trap and made to look like fools.

Jesus declared, 'Render (give back) to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's' (Mk. 12:17). People are made in God's image, so we must render to God the things belonging to God (our lives) and to Caesar the things belonging to Caesar (his money and other benefits of his rule).

WATCHING YOUR THOUGHTS AND ACTIONS

I WAS THINKING BACK OVER THE PAST WEEK OF THE THINGS I DID AND ASKED MYSELF IF THERE WAS ANYTHING I WOULD HAVE BEEN ASHAMED OF IF JESUS HAD WALKED IN AND SAW ME.  WITH ME BEING 81 YEARS OLD AND NOT LEAVING THE HOUSE FOR WEEKS AT A TIME, I ACTUALLY DON'T DO MUCH THAT I THINK JESUS WOULD NOT APPROVE OF.  HOWEVER, WHEN I THINK OF SOME OF THE THINGS I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT, THAT IS A DIFFERENT PROBLEM.  I TRY NOT TO GET ANGRY ABOUT SOME OF THE THINGS I READ ABOUT WHAT IS HAPPENING TO OUR COUNTRY, AND THOSE WHO ARE TRYING TO DESTROY IT, BUT SOMETIMES I DO.  I HAVE TO ASK FORGIVENESS FOR THOSE TIMES.

HOW ABOUT YOU?  WOULD JESUS HAVE APPROVED OF SOME OF THE THINGS YOU DID IF HE HAD SEEN YOU OR HEARD SOME OF THE THOUGHTS YOU HAD?  HE DID, YOU KNOW.  THAT IS WHY WE HAVE TO BE SO CAREFUL ABOUT THESE THINGS.  I FIND THAT TURNING THESE THINGS OVER TO HIM AND LETTING HIM TAKE CARE OF THEM, I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THEM.  MY PROBLEM IS THAT SOMETIMES I DO THIS AND THEN TRY TO HELP HIM OUT.  HE REALLY DOESN'T NEED MY HELP.  1ST PETER 5:7 SAYS "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."

LET'S MAKE A REAL EFFORT TO WATCH OUR ACTIONS AND THOUGHTS ON EVERYTHING.  AND, DON'T BE LIKE ME, IF YOU TURN IT OVER TO HIM, LET HIM HANDLE IT.  I GUARANTEE THINGS WILL BE MUCH BETTER IN YOUR DAILY LIFE.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

"OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS IS IN CHRIST" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2020-09-15

Our Righteousness Is In Christ

Matthew 22:11 'And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:'

MATTHEW 22:8-14

In this time, it was customary for the host to provide their guests with wedding garments to wear to the wedding. It was an insult of the highest degree to refuse to wear the clothing provided since the guests were brought in directly from the highways and streets. The wedding garment speaks of the righteousness of Christ that God so graciously provides for all who accept His invitation into the kingdom. It must be put on by both good and bad (Mt. 22:10).

Right standing before a holy God is not to be achieved in keeping the law but in humble trust in the person and work of Jesus Christ. No one, who is trusting in his own righteousness, can have the benefit of Christ's righteousness. The righteousness that gives men relationship with God is the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD, and it comes freely through faith in Jesus Christ.

The way we obtain this righteousness is by putting faith in what Christ has done for us. When we place our faith in Christ, then the righteousness that Jesus obtained by His faith becomes ours.

Through faith in Jesus, we can receive the very righteousness of God as a gift. God's righteousness is infinitely more in quality and quantity than man's puny righteousness. No one can ever be justified in the sight of God based on his own righteousness which comes through acts of holiness. One must have God's righteousness which only comes through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. Paul said in Philippians 3:9, 'And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.' This is 'the righteousness of God.'
