About
Carla Martin, an Ordained Evangelist, has a passion to translate the heart of God to the world through music
She has been performing for 17 years at churches and venues including the Apollo Theater, Manhattan Symphony Space, and New York City Town Hall. And has won first place in the 2002 McDonald’s Gospel Fest. To the stage and large crowds Carla is no stranger.
Being married with seven children, Carla has a mandate to reach young people. Her songs inspire and empower them to live above the influence of the world through Jesus Christ. Her sound infused with real life testimony pulls the listener in and helps lead them to God’s throne.
Carla Martin is certainly a relevant voice in this season of gospel music. We are excited to introduce the world to one of God’s hidden gifts.

When I listen to music here at IndieGospel.net I'm trying to find first - does it touch my spirit and ignite it. Then Second - is it different. This is the hardest thing for us musicianaries to do. That is, "Surrender" to the Lord and allow Him to give us the music and lyricsI! Then let it flow to the instrument and then to the pen and paper. How do I know this? Why do I bring this up? Because most Contemporary Christian Music and Christian Country Music sounds the same!! It's boring!! That's why Darrell Mansfield and Eric Turner were two of the first artists to put Christian Rock out into the world! And boy did we Christians eat it up. We then became Christian Rockers! We were hungry for something NEW! Why am I sharing this on Carla Martin's page which has the song "SURRENDER" on it? Because it's different, it's catchy, it's got a great beat (I like this version of her song better), the lyrics have a great flowing rhyming pattern that draws me more into the song. And - news flash - she sings in key!! And she's a great songwriter!
The Bible says, Revelation 21:5-8 ...Behold I make ALL THINGS NEW...! Read these verses.
Some people should not be singing. Why? They sound like the grinding gears of a 3 speed stick shift in a car when you shift gears because you didn't have the clutch pushed in all the way. But... for those who can't sing in key maybe you're better at simply writing lyrics! Right? So if you can't sing, but...can write lyrics then find a brother or sister that can sing! What a novel idea! Or worst yet, you can sing but while recording in your home recording studio you pull the vocal track down so low you can't even hear the words you're singing! Therefore, you can't even hear the message! because the music's too loud!
After all this, the Lord used a Jackass to get His message across. So what do I know?
