It's a test, it's not punishment! It's a trial, and not a consequence! If all trials or all sufferings were punishment, or our consequence, then where would hope be, or joy where would it come from? FAITHFUL!
"And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years. And Enoch walked with God and he was not; for God took him ." Genesis 5:22-24

Faithful to God all his days! Enoch led a righteous life of faith in service to God. He was an ancestor of Jesus, Luke 3:37 and we see this character trait of faithfulness and loyalty throughout Enoch's lineage through Seth his father, Adam's son, and all the way down to Jesus, and of course Jesus was faithful and loyal to God...

One way or another God will have a righteous people, herein he is appealing to us all to come to him and repent of sin, to come and reason this thing out, and to stop insane behaviors that are harmful in our lives. Either we will come to God and seek his forgiveness or, as we read further we find, "But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it." So what then? If we must withhold our revenge, if we must restrain ourselves in a hostile world that seeks to harm us, and if we cannot avenge ourselves, what then shall we do? What?! Isn't it good to know that God is on our side? Having his peace cannot be outdone, there is nothing greater than this! As David tells us, "Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side." Do we lay at the feet of the one we love? Do we rest at the feet of God or have we visited lately the foot of the cross? We cannot say that we love Jesus with mere words alone!
