Crutches!
April 16, 2011
"In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon the throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Isaiah 6:1
King Uzziah is thought to have been the uncle of Isaiah, a rich uncle, a possible crutch for Isaiah to lean upon, and a strong Christian at the start of his rule, one that got lifted up in his heart and turned against the priests, and died thereafter. Whatever the reason for King Uzziah's death, it should not be our only focus, lets's talk about possible crutches instead. Do you have any possible crutches that you are leaning upon more than God. In the year that our crutch dies we will see the Lord sitting on the throne, high and lifted up. God is exalted and more alive to us than ever before when we depend on him. It's ok, he wants that we depend on him and not others, no rich relatives, wise friends, or other gods will do! Only Jesus will satisfy! When God becomes our only source of provision our eyes will look to him and our hearts will embrace him more than ever before.
God will separate us from our crutches so that we may rely only on him. He has a purpose for our life and needs our undivided attention and our total reliance upon him ro accomplish what he wants. Whatever your source of dependency has been in the past let it go and lean on Jesus today!
