"The vision of God always brings the revelation of the utter worthlessness of self, an indispensable prerequisite to effective service for God." - Unger's Commentary on the Old Testament
"Those are fittest to be employed for God who are low in their own eyes and are made deeply sensible of their own weakness and unworthiness." - Matthew Henry
In Exodus 33:20, the Lord God spoke to Moses and said - "...Thou canst not see My face: for there shall no man see Me, and live."
Throughout the Bible, we read of those who had the experience of seeing God's glorious majesty and were "shaken to the core" as a result.
In Judges 6:22-23, we read - "And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the LORD, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord GOD! for because I have seen an angel of the LORD face to face. And the LORD said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die."
In Judges 13:22, we read - "And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die,...

Are you hiding any secret sin? It will come to the light before long.
Are you doing great deeds unnoticed? They cannot and will not stay hidden.
The true character of every man, woman, and child will break forth in due time.
"There are arrangements in the divine government for bringing out the character of every man so that it may be clearly understood...There are arrangements for developing every man's character, and it will be ultimately known what he is...There is much good, as there is much evil in the world, that is now concealed...We are not to suppose then that all that is concealed and unknown in the world is evil." - Barnes' Notes
Psalm 19:6 presents the sun as a champion running a race from one end of the heaven unto the other - completing his journey in a year's time - "His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof."
Notice what is said here.

"Because God will soon destroy the world and judge the unrighteous, we must not become attached to this world's system or things within it." - The Full Life Study Bible
"Common sense tells us to turn from the tinsel and toys of this world and live in holiness and godliness. It is a simple matter of living for eternity rather than time, of emphasizing the spiritual rather than the material, of choosing the permanent over the passing." - Believer's Bible Commentary
"Everything material has the stamp of oblivion upon it. The things of which men boast, the things for which they live are passing things at best. To live for material things is to live for the temporary." - Believer's Bible Commentary
"Nothing preaches to us such a sermon of the vanity of man, his works, his ambition, his art, his fashion, his pleasures, his proud over-weening science, as the instability of earth and of its final dissolution." - Biblical Illustrator

"He (God) takes the meaning of our tears, The language of our groans." - Charles Spurgeon
In praying, words may be sincere and truthful, yet they may not be able to express the full meaning of the supplicant. That is when the soul reaches out to a language that is unutterable - consisting of unuttered groanings, voiceless moanings, silent musings, and inward mournings. These are expressions that are more than the one praying can express or explain in ordinary language. They are the yearnings Godward that are too deep for outward expression.
One thing is for sure - God understands the language of a sigh, groan, or moan. These words are not hid from Him. They are well known to Him.
In Psalm 5:1, David said - "Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation."
Notice that David did not just ask the Lord to merely hear the words of his prayer but to also understand or perceive the secret and unexpressed desires of his soul.

This message is prophetic. It applies to all those who has been going through a time of great barrenness in their spiritual walk with the Lord or in their ministry.
For the longest time, you may have felt the chastening hand of the Lord - stripping away at your life - so to speak - causing great self-judgment and examination. At times, things - that have happened - did not make any sense whatsoever. You have cried out unceasingly for answers from the Lord.
It seems as though - all those around you have enjoyed one blessing after another - while you were simply left out. The Good News is that God has not forsaken you. A time of great enlargement and fruitfulness is coming your way. You can count on it. God is faithful to His promises.
Matthew Henry - the renowned Bible Commentator - once said - "God is to be acknowledged in all our enlargements. It is He that enlarges the coast and the heart."
W.E. Vine, in his book entitled - Isaiah - Prophecies *...

"In worshipping God we must lift up our souls to Him. Prayer is the ascent of the soul to God; God must be eyed and the soul employed. Sursum corda - Up with you hearts, was anciently used as a call to devotion. With a holy contempt of the world and the things of it, by a fixed thought and active faith, we must set God before us, and let out our desires towards Him as the fountain of our happiness."
"He who is content with the husks will be reckoned with the swine. If we suck our consolation from the breasts of the world, we prove ourselves to be its home-born children. Does the world satisfy thee? Then thou hast thy reward and thy portion in this life; make much of it, for thou shalt know no other joy."
- both quotes are from Matthew Henry
The Bible speaks of "lifting up the soul." However, it is important to note that it speaks of "lifting up the soul" either "unto God" or "unto vanity."

In Luke 1, two men are mentioned as being "great." Luke 1:15 says of John the Baptist - "For he shall be great." Luke 1:5 says - "There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea" - commonly known as Herod the Great. John was "great in the sight of the Lord." Herod was "great" in the sight of himself & of his court.
Which was the really great man?
Are you striving to be "great in the sight of men" or "great in the sight of the Lord" ?
"Those are great indeed that are so in God's sight, not those that are so in the eye of a vain and carnal world. God will set him before His face continually, will employ him in His work and send him on His errands; and that shall make him truly great and honourable." - Matthew Henry
In Luke 1:15, the angel Gabriel said to Zechariah of his son John - "For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord."
What powerful words were these! How many men or women do you know of who have had such words spoken of them...
