About
I AM AN 80 YEAR OLD MALE, BORN AGAIN, CHRISTIAN WITH A LOVE FOR JESUS. I DO NOT GET OUT MUCH ANYMORE BUT FIND THAT TELLING PEOPLE ABOUT THE LOVE JESUS HAS FOR THEM IS NOT ONLY WHAT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO DO BUT SOMETHING THAT THE WORLD NEEDS.

HIS WILL IS IN THE WORD
FROM ANDREW WOMMACK MINISTRIES
HIS WILL IS IN THE WORD
John 17:17 "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."
JOHN 17:17
In this prayer, Jesus prayed twice that the Father would keep His disciples from evil. Then He reveals the way that God will accomplish this - through His Word, the holy scriptures. Anyone who desires to live for God, reject the devil, and reject the world's system, must know God's Word.
We must study the scriptures, for they reveal the will of God for our actions and attitudes. To be filled with the knowledge of God's will, we must be filled with God's Word. God's Word is His will! Those who are ignorant of God's Word will be ignorant of God's will.
Knowledge of God's will is foundational in developing Christian conduct and character. There is no way we can fulfill God's will if we don't know what it is. The starting point for any Christian is understanding God's will for his life. How can a person obtain such knowledge? The first step is to desire it. Jeremiah 29:13 says, "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." People ask the Lord for knowledge of His will but don't receive it because they aren't seeking with ALL THEIR HEART. No one who has ever sought the Lord with all his heart has ever been disappointed.
The Holy Spirit is the dispenser of God's wisdom. It is through Him that we know the things God has revealed to us. One of the primary ministries of the Holy Spirit is to reveal God's will to us.
There is no way we can walk worthy of the Lord and please Him if we don't know His will. Furthermore, we can't be fruitful without the knowledge of His will. God has provided all that we need to be successful and victorious in this life. Believe His Word.

The main tenet of this post, as expressed in this statement "Those who are ignorant of God's Word will be ignorant of God's will" is not entirely true, in that it fails to account for direct revelation and natural revelation (also called general revelation). The special revelation of the Bible, is only one aspect of special revelation which is a subset of all revelation.
The great apostle Paul said of those who know nothing of scripture:
Romans 1: 19-20 ...what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse...
Rom. 2:14-15...they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience bearing witness, and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them.”
Therefore, those who know nothing of scripture are not ignorant of God or his will, they know the will of God is to act morally "innately", and will be held accountable if they do not do so. True, they may not have an explicit understanding of the Gospel as set forth in the Word, but they are not ignorant of God, or his will, nor are they beyond the reach of his Spirit.
One cannot uplift the Bible by denying what it teaches. Besides creating a logical paradox, this teaching poses some serious questions.
What of people who grow up in jungles where Missionaries have never reached and who have never heard of Jesus or read the Bible? What of people who are born into a society where Christianity is not tolerated, and they are exposed to a different religion? What of a child who is abused and dies, or is taken by accident or disease, before the age where they can understand the Bible? What of those who reach the age of maturity and accountability, but are burdened with a mental handicap that makes reading or learning the word impossible in their condition?
Are they all ignorant of God's will and doomed to burn in hell, writhing in agony for all eternity? According to some fundamentalists - yes - and not only them, but everyone else who does not agree with their narrow and overly literalistic interpretation.
This type of thinking leads to the "sticky" exclusion - inclusion debate that Paul warned us to stay away from in Romans 10:6-7. However, it has become a "hot button" issue, with extremists on both sides.
The extremes are really quite avoidable if we keep a few simple things in mind. Those without scripture are not ignorant of God and his will since he is evidenced in nature, and what he requires is innate (written on the heart). The Spirit strives with all men and is not limited by borders, or cultural norms. Also, we all face the judgment seat of Christ (Christian and non Christian) but it's what we do, not profession of faith, or knowledge of the word, that Christ says he is interested in.
Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who keeps saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ (profession of faith) will get into the kingdom of heaven, but only the person who keeps doing the will (what we do) of my Father in heaven.
Rom 2:6 For he will render to every man according to his works (what we do).
Here someone will say, salvation is by grace through faith and not of works. That's absolutely true, but faith is dead without works, it must be evidenced by works, or it's not faith.
The Bible is absolutely clear that Christ is the only way to heaven and that all judgment has been committed to him. Yet how quick we are to decide for him, who he can apply the merits of his sacrifice to. He tells us himself that even those who speak against him (opposite of a profession of faith), can be forgiven, but not those who reject the Spirit.
Matthew 12:32 ...And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
At the judgment seat of Christ, FRUIT is the "acid test". How did you respond to the Spirit striving with you to treat your neighbor as yourself, within the context of your existential reality - not in theory, not in word, but in deed.
Matthew 25:31-46 He will reply, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me". Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.
The fact is, the scriptures are God breathed, useful in training in righteousness, able to make one wise unto salvation, and the final arbitrator of doctrine. There is every advantage in studying the word thoroughly, but one should not make the mistake of discounting direct, natural, or other forms of revelation. They are taught in the Word, so if you reject them, you reject the Word also.
One should also not make the mistake of condemning those who are ignorant of the Word, but rich in Spirit. Christ is their judge and they may meet his approval before a professing Christian with a Doctor of Divinity, but no FRUIT of the Spirit.
God is not as limited in reaching out to men as some would make him, and Paul says those who are without his word are not ignorant of his will (which is innate), and therefore can't escape judgment by feigning ignorance. The judgment will also be fair to the ignorant, since it is based on the fruit of the Spirit, not head knowledge, or profession. In our great rush to uplift the word, let's not deny it's basic teachings, or go to wild extremes we are told to avoid.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
