THE MEANING OF GREAT LOVE
I HAVE BEEN HESITANT ABOUT WRITING THIS AS I AM CONCERNED SOME WON'T UNDERSTAND IT BUT I AM GOING TO GIVE IT A TRY.
WE KNOW WE HAVE A TRIUNE GOD, GOD THE FATHER, GOD THE SON, AND GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT. ONE GOD BUT THREE PERSONALITIES. KNOWING THIS WE CAN ACCEPT JOHN 3:16 WHERE IT SAYS "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
WE THINK OF THIS AS GREAT AGAPE LOVE BUT DO YOU REALIZE HOW MUCH JESUS LOVES US. JESUS KNEW WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN TO HIM BUT HE DID IT ANYWAY. THIS IS NOT SAYING THAT HE WANTED TO AND WE KNOW THIS BY WHAT THE SCRIPTURE TELLS US. HE ASKS FATHER GOD THREE TIMES TO LET THIS CRUCIFIXION AND DEATH PASS FROM HIM BUT HE SAID FOR GOD TO DO HIS WILL. LET'S READ WHAT HE SAYS.
MATTHEW 26:39-44 "And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy. And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words."
HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED WHY GOD CREATED MAN? KNOWING "ALL THINGS" AND TO CREATE A PEOPLE THAT WOULD DO WHAT WE HAVE DONE, WHAT WAS HE THINKING? I'LL TELL YOU WHAT I THINK. I BELIEVE THAT IS ONE OF THE REASONS HE GAVE US A FREE WILL SO HE WOULD HAVE A PEOPLE THAT COULD OR WOULD LOVE HIM BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO.
THE BIBLE SAYS WE WERE CREATED FOR HIS PLEASURE. (REVELATION 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.)
FOR GOD TO GO THROUGH ALL THE PAIN AND SUFFERING BY BECOMING A MAN AND GOING TO THE CROSS SHOWS JUST HOW MUCH HE LOVES US. OR IF YOU WOULD RATHER THINK OF IT AS GOD SENDING HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON TO DIE FOR US, THAT IS RIGHT ALSO.
IT IS A MYSTERY WE HAVE TO BELIEVE BY FAITH. THIS MIGHT EXPLAIN IT A LITTLE CLEARER AS IT IS IN HIS WORD AND IS FROM JOHN 17 WHERE JESUS SAYS WHILE PRAYING TO GOD THE FATHER "I ask not only on behalf of these, (HIS DISCIPLES) but also on behalf of those (WE BORN AGAIN CHRISTIANS) who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me." (PARENTHESIS ARE MINE) HIS PLAN OF SALVATION WAS ALL WORKED OUT IN JESUS.
