I Speak Your Name Over Them
I Speak Your Name (Over Them)
David Erickson
Verse One
Oh, God, I can hear their cry from the city streets and from around the earth.
“I have no hope and I have never had hope since my birth.
Why was I born? I have no reason to live in this lonely place.
I’m living here in this dirty gutter and with the garbage I cover my face.”
Chorus
My, Lord, I speak over all of them. For the least of these I speak.
Jesus, your name is most powerful and it is you of whom they seek.
I speak your name on the streets and byways and in the schools, right now.
I will speak your name all over this world until every knee will bow.
Verse Two
We have come here today to speak your name over hatred and despair.
Please hear our pray in humility, for you know we truly care.
I will proclaim the name of Jesus to every corner of this earth.
Until the whole wide world has received our Savior’s new birth.
Bridge
I will speak your name, Jesus, over them all of my days.
Until this whole world confesses your name, Jesus, Jesus.
