The Lord Would Teach Man The Lesson (MS 920 1898) - as sung by Jack Marti

Category: Music
Duration: 00:02:02
Description:
This is a passage from the writings of Ellen White that made an indelible impression on me back in 1985, so I thought I'd just put it in song form. A lot of people seem to think that once you've professed faith in Jesus as your Savior that's all there is to being saved. I have long been skeptical of that concept because it seems to me one doesn't lose one's freedom of choice once one utters words to the effect that one has accepted Jesus as their personal Savior. There's a little more to it than that. It has to do with believing God and His promises and trusting that He is able to keep that which I've committed unto Him against that day. The seal of God as I understand it, is contained within His law, specifically the fourth commandment. Jesus said, "if ye love me, keep my commandments." I, on my own, am unable to do so, but the very fact that He bids me do so means it's possible with His help! He created the worlds and everything in them by the word of His mouth. Is it such a great leap of faith for me to believe He can write His law in my heart such that I would rather die than sin against Him? I think not. Therefore the message of this song is of great importance to me and all who would be among those who are sealed before He comes. May all who listen receive the message this song contains.

Incidentally, the explosions you hear in the background are fireworks my neighbors are setting of in celebration of the fourth of July.

The Lord would teach man the lesson
That though united in church capacity,
He is not saved until the seal of God is placed upon him,
And he is made complete in Christ.
