Jesus forgiveness of sins teaching and tract
Jesus forgiveness of sins teaching and tract
Jesus came to forgive our sins, by dying on the cross, though He did not wait for that to do so, as I am going to show you here in the various verses of scripture which will be presented in this teaching and tract.
This was first spoken of in Matthew chapter 1 in these two verses
(Matthew 1:20) But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
(Matthew 1:21) She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."
The first incident of Jesus forgiving a sins and causing a miraculous healing takes place in Matthew chapter 9 where a paralytic is miraculously and suddenly healed
(Matthew 9:2) And behold, some people brought to him a paralytic, lying on a bed. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven."
(Matthew 9:3) And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man is blaspheming."
(Matthew 9:4) But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts?
(Matthew 9:5) For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise and walk'?
(Matthew 9:6) But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"--he then said to the paralytic--"Rise, pick up your bed and go home."
(Matthew 9:7) And he rose and went home.
A more detailed account of this same healing and forgiveness of sinsk is given in Mark chapter 2
(Mark 2:1) And when he returned to Capernaum after some days, it was reported that he was at home.
(Mark 2:2) And many were gathered together, so that there was no more room, not even at the door. And he was preaching the word to them.
(Mark 2:3) And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men.
(Mark 2:4) And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him, and when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay.
(Mark 2:5) And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven."
(Mark 2:6) Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts,
(Mark 2:7) "Why does this man speak like that? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?"
(Mark 2:8) And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, "Why do you question these things in your hearts?
(Mark 2:9) Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise, take up your bed and walk'?
(Mark 2:10) But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"--he said to the paralytic--
(Mark 2:11) "I say to you, rise, pick up your bed, and go home."
(Mark 2:12) And he rose and immediately picked up his bed and went out before them all, so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, "We never saw anything like this!"
(Mark 2:13) He went out again beside the sea, and all the crowd was coming to him, and he was teaching them.
Still another account of this healing is in Luke chapter 5
(Luke 5:18) And behold, some men were bringing on a bed a man who was paralyzed, and they were seeking to bring him in and lay him before Jesus,
(Luke 5:19) but finding no way to bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down with his bed through the tiles into the midst before Jesus.
(Luke 5:20) And when he saw their faith, he said, "Man, your sins are forgiven you."
(Luke 5:21) And the scribes and the Pharisees began to question, saying, "Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?"
(Luke 5:22) When Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answered them, "Why do you question in your hearts?
(Luke 5:23) Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Rise and walk'?
(Luke 5:24) But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"--he said to the man who was paralyzed--"I say to you, rise, pick up your bed and go home."
(Luke 5:25) And immediately he rose up before them and picked up what he had been lying on and went home, glorifying God.
(Luke 5:26) And amazement seized them all, and they glorified God and were filled with awe, saying, "We have seen extraordinary things today."
He also forgave this woman of her many sins who came to Jesus and anointed him and washed him and the story is in Luke chapter 7
(Luke 7:39) Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, "If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner."
(Luke 7:40) And Jesus answering said to him, "Simon, I have something to say to you." And he answered, "Say it, Teacher."
(Luke 7:41) "A certain moneylender had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.
(Luke 7:42) When they could not pay, he cancelled the debt of both. Now which of them will love him more?"
(Luke 7:43) Simon answered, "The one, I suppose, for whom he cancelled the larger debt." And he said to him, "You have judged rightly."
(Luke 7:44) Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, "Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.
(Luke 7:45) You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not ceased to kiss my feet.
(Luke 7:46) You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment.
(Luke 7:47) Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven--for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little."
(Luke 7:48) And he said to her, "Your sins are forgiven."
(Luke 7:49) Then those who were at table with him began to say among themselves, "Who is this, who even forgives sins?"
(Luke 7:50) And he said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."
It indeed is fortunate for that He can forgive sins like that for we sure do need it according to these verses in Romans
(Romans 3:10) as it is written: "None is righteous, no, not one;
(Romans 3:11) no one understands; no one seeks for God.
(Romans 3:12) All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one."
Romans chapter 3 also is very clear that we need to be saved from our own sins that we have committed
(Romans 3:23) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
(Romans 3:24) and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
(Romans 3:24) and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
(Romans 3:25) whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.
(Romans 3:26) It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Here are the consequences of the sin that we have committed
(Romans 6:23) For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Jesus expresses His purpose of coming to the Earth here in these verses
(John 3:16) "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
(John 3:17) For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
(John 3:18) Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
This message is further confirmed in John 5, two verses speaking of eternal life
(John 5:24) Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
(John 5:25) "Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.
These verses in John 8 confirm that Jesus indeed can set all free
(John 8:31) So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,
(John 8:32) and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
(John 8:33) They answered him, "We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, 'You will become free'?"
(John 8:34) Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin.
(John 8:35) The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever.
(John 8:36) So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
The message of Jesus suffering and dying for our sins is continued in 1 Peter 2, that we can be healed
(1 Peter 2:21) For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.
(1 Peter 2:22) He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth.
(1 Peter 2:23) When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.
(1 Peter 2:24) He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
(1 Peter 2:25) For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
That message also is here in this 1 Peter 3 verse
(1 Peter 3:18) For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,
Also this verse in Revelation 1 stating how Jesus freed us from our sins by His blood because He loves us
(Revelation 1:5) and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood
These two verses in 1 John 2 also state how Jesus was the propitiation for our sins and all mankind’s
(1 John 2:1) My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
(1 John 2:2) He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.
Also a very similar message is given in these two verses in 1 John chapter 4 how God loved us and sent Jesus to be a propitiation for our sins
(1 John 4:9) In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.
(1 John 4:10) In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Here Jesus Himself says that He is the only way to Heaven and the Father
(John 14:6) Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
But Jesus also makes it clear in Revelation that He indeed is seeking people always
(Revelation 3:20) Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
The following verses in Romans 10 speak very clearly on what must be done to get salvation
(Romans 10:9) because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
(Romans 10:10) For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved
(Romans 10:13) For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
And also at peace with God being justified by faith (free from worry)
(Romans 5:1) Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
These two verses promise no condemnation with those in Jesus
(Romans 8:1) There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
(Romans 8:2) For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death
And nothing can now separate us from the love of God in Jesus, either
(Romans 8:38) For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,
(Romans 8:39) nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord
I am sure you have now seen enough now to be ready to pray to be saved. I am now including a short prayer that you can say to ensure that you are saved and have eternal life when you die, going to heaven to be with Jesus forever and not end up going to hell.
Heavenly Father I come to You in the Name of Jesus. I confess to You that I am a sinner and cannot save myself. I confess and repent of all of my sins and unrighteousness. Right now I confess with my mouth Jesus as the Lord of my life and believe in my heart that You, God did indeed raise Him from the dead. I thank You for cleansing and forgiving me of all of my sins and unrighteousness and for saving me. I thank You for sending Your Son to die in my place for my sins, and for the inexpressible gift of eternal life that I now claim through the death of Jesus on the cross. Thank You, Lord, again for saving me. In the Name of Jesus I pray Amen.
