                        Book of Psalms bible study Psalms 1 through 24

            This is a study of the book of Psalms in groups. I will be putting all 150 of them in this study in groups. These psalms are a variety of songs, some of the psalms are for  praise, some are laments, some of the Psalms are prayers. The Psalms are written by a variety of authors, but David wrote the most, but Asaph and others wrote them too, and a good many are anonymous, the writer of them unknown. There are many verses in the book of Psalms that contain good advice and instruction for everyone today, too, which can be used to apply to their lives.
This study starts with Psalm 1 and will have basically no comment between them, other than to indentify the number of the Psalm, to maximize the effect of the text and what it contains

Psalm 1

(Psalm 1:1)  Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

(Psalm 1:2)  but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.

(Psalm 1:3)  He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.

(Psalm 1:4)  The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

(Psalm 1:5)  Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;

Psalm 2

(Psalm 2:1)  Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?

(Psalm 2:3)  "Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us."

(Psalm 2:4)  He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.

(Psalm 2:5)  Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying,

(Psalm 2:6)  "As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill."

(Psalm 2:7)  I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, "You are my Son; today I have begotten you.

(Psalm 2:8)  Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.

(Psalm 2:9)  You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel."

(Psalm 2:10)  Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth.

(Psalm 2:11)  Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

That last one I am including 24 asks who the king of glory is, we all know it is a praise of the Lord Jesus, for the Lord Jesus is the true King of glory to whom ever knee will bow and every tongue will confess as Lord to the glory of God the Father. Jesus loves us so much though that He willingly and lovingly gave His life for all so that our sins may be forgiven (He would have come and done it for only one, if all others were righteous, such is His love) and that right relationship with Him and God the Father can be restored. There is nothing like a relationship with God, nothing at all can be compared to it. I am now including a prayer which will invite Jesus into your heart and begin this love relationship, or even to restore it if it has been broken for any reason, for God is so merciful and He welcomes repentant people back. Please pray this prayer with me:

Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness. I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin. You said in Your Holy Word, Romans 10:9 that if we confess Jesus as our Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we will be saved. Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved. Thank you Jesus for your unlimited grace which has saved me from my sins. I thank you Jesus that your grace never leads to license, but rather it always leads to repentance. Therefore Lord Jesus transform my life so that I may bring glory and honor to you alone and not to myself. Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life.

Amen.

God bless you and yours
