Seven chapter promises warnings and punishments study
Here is a bible study including seven chapters of promises, punishments and rewards both from the old testament and the new testament to show a lot of the character of God. He would also send Jesus to die for us to show us how much He loves us
First in this study God gave Moses promises for Israel for today of blessings for obedience to Him and His word and will, but also many curses and punishments for disobedience all of which are listed here in Deuteronomy chapter 28
(Deuteronomy 28:1) And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:
(Deuteronomy 28:2) And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.
(Deuteronomy 28:3) Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.
(Deuteronomy 28:4) Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
(Deuteronomy 28:5) Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.
(Deuteronomy 28:6) Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
(Deuteronomy 28:7) The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.
(Deuteronomy 28:8) The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
(Deuteronomy 28:9) The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways.
(Deuteronomy 28:10) And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.
(Deuteronomy 28:11) And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
(Deuteronomy 28:12) The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
(Deuteronomy 28:13) And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
(Deuteronomy 28:14) And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
(Deuteronomy 28:15) But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:
(Deuteronomy 28:16) Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.
(Deuteronomy 28:17) Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.
(Deuteronomy 28:18) Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.
(Deuteronomy 28:19) Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.
(Deuteronomy 28:20) The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.
(Deuteronomy 28:21) The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it.
(Deuteronomy 28:22) The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish.
(Deuteronomy 28:23) And thy heaven that is over thy head shall be brass, and the earth that is under thee shall be iron.
(Deuteronomy 28:24) The LORD shall make the rain of thy land powder and dust: from heaven shall it come down upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
(Deuteronomy 28:25) The LORD shall cause thee to be smitten before thine enemies: thou shalt go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them: and shalt be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
(Deuteronomy 28:26) And thy carcase shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away.
(Deuteronomy 28:27) The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed.
(Deuteronomy 28:28) The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart:
(Deuteronomy 28:29) And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee.
(Deuteronomy 28:30) Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof.
(Deuteronomy 28:31) Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to rescue them.
(Deuteronomy 28:32) Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand.
(Deuteronomy 28:33) The fruit of thy land, and all thy labours, shall a nation which thou knowest not eat up; and thou shalt be only oppressed and crushed alway:
(Deuteronomy 28:34) So that thou shalt be mad for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
(Deuteronomy 28:35) The LORD shall smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head.
(Deuteronomy 28:36) The LORD shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.
(Deuteronomy 28:37) And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee.
(Deuteronomy 28:38) Thou shalt carry much seed out into the field, and shalt gather but little in; for the locust shall consume it.
(Deuteronomy 28:39) Thou shalt plant vineyards, and dress them, but shalt neither drink of the wine, nor gather the grapes; for the worms shall eat them.
(Deuteronomy 28:40) Thou shalt have olive trees throughout all thy coasts, but thou shalt not anoint thyself with the oil; for thine olive shall cast his fruit.
(Deuteronomy 28:41) Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.
(Deuteronomy 28:42) All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume.
(Deuteronomy 28:43) The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.
(Deuteronomy 28:44) He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.
(Deuteronomy 28:45) Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee:
(Deuteronomy 28:46) And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.
(Deuteronomy 28:47) Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;
(Deuteronomy 28:48) Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
(Deuteronomy 28:49) The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;
(Deuteronomy 28:50) A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor shew favour to the young:
(Deuteronomy 28:51) And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle, and the fruit of thy land, until thou be destroyed: which also shall not leave thee either corn, wine, or oil, or the increase of thy kine, or flocks of thy sheep, until he have destroyed thee.
(Deuteronomy 28:52) And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath given thee.
(Deuteronomy 28:53) And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:
(Deuteronomy 28:54) So that the man that is tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave:
(Deuteronomy 28:55) So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.
(Deuteronomy 28:56) The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,
(Deuteronomy 28:57) And toward her young one that cometh out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear: for she shall eat them for want of all things secretly in the siege and straitness, wherewith thine enemy shall distress thee in thy gates.
(Deuteronomy 28:58) If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD;
(Deuteronomy 28:59) Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.
(Deuteronomy 28:60) Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee.
(Deuteronomy 28:61) Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed.
(Deuteronomy 28:62) And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God.
(Deuteronomy 28:63) And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.
(Deuteronomy 28:64) And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy fathers have known, even wood and stone.
(Deuteronomy 28:65) And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:
(Deuteronomy 28:66) And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life:
(Deuteronomy 28:67) In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see.
(Deuteronomy 28:68) And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.
Next in this teaching study of promises, punishments and warnings is Isaiah chapter 5 which speaks of how evil people have indeed become then but also speaks effectively on how evil they indeed are now.
(Isaiah 5:1) Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill:
(Isaiah 5:2) And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.
(Isaiah 5:3) And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.
(Isaiah 5:4) What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?
(Isaiah 5:5) And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:
(Isaiah 5:6) And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
(Isaiah 5:7) For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.
(Isaiah 5:8) Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!
(Isaiah 5:9) In mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.
(Isaiah 5:10) Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah.
(Isaiah 5:11) Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!
(Isaiah 5:12) And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.
(Isaiah 5:13) Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.
(Isaiah 5:14) Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.
(Isaiah 5:15) And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:
(Isaiah 5:16) But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.
(Isaiah 5:17) Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat.
(Isaiah 5:18) Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:
(Isaiah 5:19) That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!
(Isaiah 5:20) Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
(Isaiah 5:21) Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
(Isaiah 5:22) Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
(Isaiah 5:23) Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
(Isaiah 5:24) Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.
(Isaiah 5:25) Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
(Isaiah 5:26) And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly:
(Isaiah 5:27) None shall be weary nor stumble among them; none shall slumber nor sleep; neither shall the girdle of their loins be loosed, nor the latchet of their shoes be broken:
(Isaiah 5:28) Whose arrows are sharp, and all their bows bent, their horses' hoofs shall be counted like flint, and their wheels like a whirlwind:
(Isaiah 5:29) Their roaring shall be like a lion, they shall roar like young lions: yea, they shall roar, and lay hold of the prey, and shall carry it away safe, and none shall deliver it.
(Isaiah 5:30) And in that day they shall roar against them like the roaring of the sea: and if one look unto the land, behold darkness and sorrow, and the light is darkened in the heavens thereof.
In chapter 18 of Ezekiel there are promises of forgiveness should an evil person turn from his evil and do right but also the right can be forgotten if someone righteous becomes backslidden and fall away. The Lord is totally equal in this and strongly encourages all to repent of their wrongdoing and sin to find forgiveness, and that fathers and sons won’t be held accountable for the other’s sins.
(Ezekiel 18:1) The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,
(Ezekiel 18:2) What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge?
(Ezekiel 18:3) As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.
(Ezekiel 18:4) Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
(Ezekiel 18:5) But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,
(Ezekiel 18:6) And hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour's wife, neither hath come near to a menstruous woman,
(Ezekiel 18:7) And hath not oppressed any, but hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;
(Ezekiel 18:8) He that hath not given forth upon usury, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man,
(Ezekiel 18:9) Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.
(Ezekiel 18:10) If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that doeth the like to any one of these things,
(Ezekiel 18:11) And that doeth not any of those duties, but even hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife,
(Ezekiel 18:12) Hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination,
(Ezekiel 18:13) Hath given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.
(Ezekiel 18:14) Now, lo, if he beget a son, that seeth all his father's sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like,
(Ezekiel 18:15) That hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not defiled his neighbour's wife,
(Ezekiel 18:16) Neither hath oppressed any, hath not withholden the pledge, neither hath spoiled by violence, but hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment,
(Ezekiel 18:17) That hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.
(Ezekiel 18:18) As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity.
(Ezekiel 18:19) Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.
(Ezekiel 18:20) The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
(Ezekiel 18:21) But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
(Ezekiel 18:22) All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.
(Ezekiel 18:23) Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
(Ezekiel 18:24) But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.
(Ezekiel 18:25) Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?
(Ezekiel 18:26) When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.
(Ezekiel 18:27) Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.
(Ezekiel 18:28) Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
(Ezekiel 18:29) Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?
(Ezekiel 18:30) "Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, declares the Lord GOD. Repent and turn from all your transgressions, lest iniquity be your ruin.
(Ezekiel 18:31) Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of Israel?
(Ezekiel 18:32) For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Lord GOD; so turn, and live."
Hosea 4 in ways records the results of the things for they didn’t obey and now the Lord doesn’t like it and promises also that church leaders would be held accountable then (and now) for people’s lack of knowledge as it causes people to perish
(Hosea 4:1) Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
(Hosea 4:2) By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
(Hosea 4:3) Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.
(Hosea 4:4) Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest.
(Hosea 4:5) Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.
(Hosea 4:6) My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
(Hosea 4:7) As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.
(Hosea 4:8) They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.
(Hosea 4:9) And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.
(Hosea 4:10) For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD.
(Hosea 4:11) Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.
(Hosea 4:12) My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.
(Hosea 4:13) They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.
(Hosea 4:14) I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.
(Hosea 4:15) Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Bethaven, nor swear, The LORD liveth.
(Hosea 4:16) For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place.
(Hosea 4:17) Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.
(Hosea 4:18) Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.
(Hosea 4:19) The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.
There are powerful warnings in the New Testament which reinforce the messages given in the Old Testament. Here Jesus is speaking in Matthew 7 warning against hypocrisy, that the path is narrow, to be sure to do His Father’s will and to follow His words
(Matthew 7:1) Judge not, that ye be not judged.
(Matthew 7:2) For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
(Matthew 7:3) And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
(Matthew 7:4) Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
(Matthew 7:5) Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
(Matthew 7:6) Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
(Matthew 7:7) Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
(Matthew 7:8) For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
(Matthew 7:9) Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
(Matthew 7:10) Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
(Matthew 7:11) If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
(Matthew 7:12) Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
(Matthew 7:13) Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
(Matthew 7:14) Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
(Matthew 7:15) Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
(Matthew 7:16) Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
(Matthew 7:17) Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
(Matthew 7:18) A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
(Matthew 7:19) Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
(Matthew 7:20) Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
(Matthew 7:21) Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
(Matthew 7:22) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
(Matthew 7:23) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
(Matthew 7:24) Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
(Matthew 7:25) And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
(Matthew 7:26) And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
(Matthew 7:27) And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
(Matthew 7:28) And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:
(Matthew 7:29) For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
In Romans chapter 1 after the salutation Paul reminds us how he is not ashamed of the gospel of Christ (we are not to be either and also warns of how someone can become a reprobate, completely fallen away and whose foolish hearts are darkened and hardened and they enjoy doing evil and all others who also do evil.
(Romans 1:1) Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
(Romans 1:2) (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
(Romans 1:3) Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
(Romans 1:4) And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
(Romans 1:5) By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
(Romans 1:6) Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:
(Romans 1:7) To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
(Romans 1:8) First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
(Romans 1:9) For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;
(Romans 1:10) Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.
(Romans 1:11) For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;
(Romans 1:12) That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.
(Romans 1:13) Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.
(Romans 1:14) I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.
(Romans 1:15) So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
(Romans 1:16) For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
(Romans 1:17) For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
(Romans 1:18) For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
(Romans 1:19) Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
(Romans 1:20) For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
(Romans 1:21) Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
(Romans 1:22) Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
(Romans 1:23) And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
(Romans 1:24) Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
(Romans 1:25) Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
(Romans 1:26) For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
(Romans 1:27) And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
(Romans 1:28) And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
(Romans 1:29) Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
(Romans 1:30) Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
(Romans 1:31) Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
(Romans 1:32) Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
To conclude this is Hebrews chapter 10 where while there are promises relating to Jesus and what He was to do- and did for the remission of sins and more, there are also encouragements to come together in the last days and a warning against willful sin after being saved to avoid it as there is no more remission of sin- this is a very stern warning too, against falling away and repeated (willful, voluntary, deliberate sin which also can lead to a reprobate mind as spoken of above in Romans chapter 1
(Hebrews 10:1) For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
(Hebrews 10:2) For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
(Hebrews 10:3) But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
(Hebrews 10:4) For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
(Hebrews 10:5) Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
(Hebrews 10:6) In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
(Hebrews 10:7) Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
(Hebrews 10:8) Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
(Hebrews 10:9) Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
(Hebrews 10:10) By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
(Hebrews 10:11) And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
(Hebrews 10:12) But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
(Hebrews 10:13) From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
(Hebrews 10:14) For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
(Hebrews 10:15) Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
(Hebrews 10:16) This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
(Hebrews 10:17) And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
(Hebrews 10:18) Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
(Hebrews 10:19) Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
(Hebrews 10:20) By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
(Hebrews 10:21) And having an high priest over the house of God;
(Hebrews 10:22) Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
(Hebrews 10:23) Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
(Hebrews 10:24) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
(Hebrews 10:25) Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
(Hebrews 10:26) For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
(Hebrews 10:27) But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
(Hebrews 10:28) He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
(Hebrews 10:29) Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
(Hebrews 10:30) For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
(Hebrews 10:31) It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
(Hebrews 10:32) But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;
(Hebrews 10:33) Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.
(Hebrews 10:34) For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.
(Hebrews 10:35) Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
(Hebrews 10:36) For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
(Hebrews 10:37) For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
(Hebrews 10:38) Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
(Hebrews 10:39) But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
God by love did send Jesus to die on the cross to atone for all of our sins, which He did willingly, for we all have fallen short of God’s perfect standard as the word does strongly state in this epistle. God sent Jesus to restore the relationship between God and man which sin had broken and separated. Jesus’ death on the cross did indeed atone for this and enabled the restoration of relationship which God longs to have with all those whom He loves. There is nothing like a love relationship with God in this world, nothing can come even remotely close to such a relationship. I am now including a prayer which can be said to start this incomparable love relationship with God. Please pray this prayer with me
Dear God in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness. I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin. You said in Your Holy Word, Romans 10:9 that if we confess Jesus as our Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we will be saved. Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved. Thank you Jesus for your unlimited grace which has saved me from my sins. I thank you Jesus that your grace never leads to license, but rather it always leads to repentance. Therefore Lord Jesus transform my life so that I may bring glory and honor to you alone and not to myself. Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life.
