I am a music writer and publisher with Beauty From Ashes Music. A Multi instrumentalist, I play bass, electric and acoustic guitars, and dabble in drums keyboards and other instruments. I have played with multiple bands and been in on many projects over the last 45 years in music.

Serving Haverhill

One of my bands that I am associated with has had the fortune to be associated with a dynamic Ministry called Common Ground. Common Ground is located in Haverhill, MA. Their ministry is to the poor, disadvantaged, homeless, disenfranchised, etc. They are a wonderful ministry that does a lot in the city of Haverhill, MA.

One effort that the DRM Band has been proud to be associated with is called Serving Haverhill. Every year Common Ground purchases a tractor trailer full of living necessities and gives them out to the needy. It has become a regular event that draws anywhere between 500 and 1,000 needy people each year.

Along with the giving away of the gift bags, Common Ground provides free food and drinks, music, speakers, prayer tent, things to do for children and more. Beauty From Ashes

Most of us know this scripture from Isaiah 61:

"He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, To proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor."

As I went through a time of darkness and difficulty a few years ago, I realized that this was one of those many scriptures that you mentally ascent to but the heart has no real understanding. I think we all have those. They are different because we are in different places and have different journeys.
