Much of the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament may have been assembled in the 5th century BCE. The New Testament books were composed largely in the second half of the 1st century CE. The Deutero canonical books fall largely in between.
The most probable date of composition is around 80–100 AD, although some scholars date it significantly later, and there is evidence that it was still being substantially revised well into the 2nd century.
The Muratorian Canon, which is believed to date to 200 A.D., is the earliest compilation of canonical texts resembling the New Testament. It was not until the 5th century that all the different Christian churches came to a basic agreement on Biblical canon. Apr 23, 2019
For at least 1,000 years, both Jewish and Christian tradition held that a single author wrote the first five books of the Bible—Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy—which together are known as the Torah (Hebrew for “instruction”) and the Pentateuch (Greek for “five scrolls”).Mar 23, 2021
1535 The first printed English translation of the whole Bible was produced by Miles Coverdale in 1535, using Tyndale's work together with his own translations from the Latin Vulgate or German text. This approach to history is found in parts of the Old Testament written around the sixth century BC, such as Deutero-Isaiah and some of the Psalms.
Where in the Bible does it say salvation by faith alone?
Ephesians 2:8-9 Faith Alone. God's Word says that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus and not by our own efforts or works (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Did Martin Luther preach salvation by faith alone?
Justification by faith
For the Lutheran tradition, the doctrine of salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone is the material principle upon which all other teachings rest. Luther came to understand justification as being entirely the work of God.
The gospel is by grace through faith and not by works.
Luke 18:8
King James Version
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
In my after notes this is just a quick run down. Salvation is not by works. It's not by your effort. It is the gift of God. The people that say they did wonderful works that were rejected on Judgement Day we're applying their own effort. Probably they were trusting in some religion and its work based fails Gospel. It appears they did not trust him nor REALLY know him. They trusted in their own effort. However he is the Vine and we are the branches. We should be cautioned about abusing the spirit of Grace. It's true that God provided Grace so many of us had the time to work out our flaws and misunderstandings. Give him thanks and praise.
Good preachers preach the fear of the Lord and don't put God to the test by abusing grace!
