You heard about people being under demonic attack. These things are real and those that are deceived have no clue. You see Jesus understood these things. The one shock was when he knew Satan was influencing Peter and speaking through his words. Peter was fearful for Christ going into Jerusalem. Peter began to rebuke him. This is in verse 22 of Matthew 16. Fear no evil for I am with you written in the gospel. See why Christ told the devil to get behind him.
You see even Peter became a bull's eye when he was saved from his former life. Yes Peter was a born again Christian. And Christ took the cup and fulfilled it. In other words it did not pass him by. He laid down his life as a ransom for many. Remember the devil wanted to sift Peter and he askedĀ permission. And Christ was so offended by Peter's action that he rebuked the evil one through Peter. And remember Peter was scared and denied him. It was so heavy that Christ knew that they were setting pitfall traps for him. But he knew all of their efforts and was not deceived by them. They hated him without a cause.
So when you became a born again Christian in fact a true Christian you will experience a lot of the same things that Peter did and other Christians do. We wrestle not against flesh and blood. Many Christians speak about demonic attacks. These things are real and what you have to do is be in prayer consistently. What you have to do is draw close to God and God will draw close to you. ( Apostle Paul also understood this ) It's not written in vain that you are to contend for the faith once delivered onto the Saints. In this passage of Matthew Christ was so shocked by the devil's depth through Peter that he made some shocking statements. As written in Matthew 16 24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? The devil also sifts many Christians. The deceived he has in his hand already. They are being led by the blind guides themselves. James 4:4 tells us to not befriend the world. John 10:10 tells us that the evil one comes to steal rob and kill. Christ has told us that the devil was a liar and murderer from the beginning. He was cast down out of heaven to Earth. Since the days when he deceived Adam and Eve he has been like a roaring lion on Earth devouring people and also deceiving them. But he has his entourage of fallen angels and demons to do his dirty work too. You have to know your enemy if you are in Christ and born again.
If Satan's cast out Satan he is divided against himself and cannot stand. Yes if you are a born again Christian you know without a shred of a doubt that Satan has a kingdom. And he's been given authority by God on certain levels. What can this teach us? Look what he's done on the Earth. His kingdom is not a kingdom of Holiness and love. It's not a kingdom where the least is first but it's a kingdom of evil dressed as good. It's a kingdom of deception and not holy perfection. If he could overthrow God which he can never do exactly what he's doing on the Earth would be magnified to a number that can't be specified. So those that reject the truth and follow lies are his victims. It is important to pray and to rebuke with long-suffering when need be. I found one article that it is written very well and I will quote a couple of paragraphs.
"Prior to the rebellion, God gave Satan and his demon assistants substantial authority over everything from the earth's atmosphere on down to the earth itself, which includes us, its inhabitants. We must never forget that, in large part, our wrestling, as Paul terms it, is with these spirits. We inhabit the same space they do.
These evil spirits indeed use deceived people to carry out their plans to destroy those in whom God lives. These people are likely under the strong influence of those spirit authorities, and because they are deceived, they are unaware that they are being used! They are not necessarily possessed, as the Bible shows some are, but influenced by demons to act against our best interests."
