“Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.”
King James Version (KJV
Ephesians 5:16 - 5:17
16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
You know what is amazing if you are saved you have brothers and sisters around the world that you never met and their in-numerous. They're not all of the way you think they are. Some of them are blind and some of them are crippled. Some of them have medical conditions you never heard about. And while we are in our own troubles but able to understand and to have a job and have an income we don't fully realize or comprehend that time is short and many of our brothers and sisters around the world are either persecuted and are going through some trial that you will never go through in your life. Meanwhile life is like a bubble. You take for granted your own short life which is a vapour appearing for a short while here today and gone tomorrow. But to you it seems like life is forever. But what is to come after this life is judgment if you don't get it right. I think one of the most regretful waste of time is when you get to eternity and you realize what you could have done if you had understood. If you had understood what Jesus meant when he said you keep your own tradition making my word to none effect. It wasn't even easy for the apostles or the martyrs or the Disciples of Christ. They didn't have all the gadgets we have today. And to think of all the joyous occasion times we had in life. When we got to board an aircraft and go to Vegas or to Acapulco or to Florida or somewhere else and have a good time staying at expensive hotels and even meeting people and then buying all those travelers gifts to bring home. Or you might have went to Europe or some other destination. Meanwhile there are political prisoners in the world or even religious prisoners that never get to experience any of those things and some of them will be your brothers and sisters in Christ eventually if not already. I hear about unconditional love and the love of God. How God was glorified through his only begotten son Jesus Christ of Nazareth. God is love above anything we can think of. For example think of John Lennon singing All You Need Is Love. But we know John 10:10 that Christ is love and his father is love. It's not a selfish love. It's a holy unconditional love and it's accessible once you are in Christ. You can really define eternity being in love with the things that be of God. And the reason I say all of this it's because I hate being negative. You know Christ was despised and rejected. A Bible scholar once said he was so unattractive that we also would have rejected him. I wasn't there so I can't say but the way it is written it doesn't appear to be what we are thinking yet people felt love with him but he was rejected by the Pharisees and Sanhedrin religious Elite. They did not want him and he didn't fit the profile of what they had in mind. Could you imagine? And so this is why I go through these sermons and not to appear negative or UN loving but to reflect the truth that we have to have a serious look at what is sin and what is the real life in Christ so that we could become a transformed image of Christ. God was well pleased with him but is he well pleased with you or even me? So I reiterate it's foolishness to waste time and that we need to get it right. For instance the Bible says to renew your mind and set it on things from above. But some people will stumble with that and not know what to do. How to do it.
You know today I went to service because I met a preacher last week and I told him I would come this week. I found out he's sick today. So I hope in the name of Jesus he gets better. But on the way to service a car went by that is one of these old ancient makes that was restored which is a collector's item. And that guy had the rock music with one of these blasting systems very loud. And I remember growing up and having friends that did the exact same thing. I had an expensive car once with an expensive sound systems too. But he's living a life that fella who drove by being a life of idolatry unholy coupled with worldliness. It brought back memories when we were in that mindset. But what we should hope that the fellow will eventually find out in his life that is not proper. He doesn't see the future the way God knows it. God knows the destination of the damned and the destination of the blessed/saved and those who have repented and set their faith and mind on his ways instead of our waste of time and resources. And we don't want to be self-absorbed or self-righteous and despise everything. The reason is because God brings up the sun up on the good and on the bad. You see Christ understood all these things but still God created life and this is how it is. While there is a wedding and people are having a joyous occasion somewhere there is a funeral going on somewhere else and people are burying their loved ones. We don't have forever to get it right. You could have people planning their future in education and career but not planning their eternal destination. Please remember that.
