1 Corinthians 10: 21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.
God is a spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24 Here is the criteria! If you open yourself up to demonic activity as so many counterfeit Christians do you are completely dumbfounded and you are corrupting your Holy Temple which you might not keep holy but you might be a fornicator/Channeler/ idolater from the pits of hell to put it bluntly. So if you live common law with somebody you are in violation of God's laws for your soul and actually in rebellion which is as witchcraft that is as it is written. You have to try to see my point and it's the things that we can't see that are extremely important and they are eternal not the things that we can see that we can touch see and hear. 2 Corinthians 4:18 So that brings me to a thought I had today and it was about the first murder in the Bible and that was Cain and Abel. That was the first thought but there were characters in the Bible being the word of God that fell away and offended God as Saul and even others.
So in that light a couple of questions first.
What was God's promise to Ishmael?
"I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation."
Why did Abraham banish Ishmael?
"Hagar, as told in Genesis, Chapter 21, was an Egyptian slave to Abraham with whom she had a son, Ishmael. Abraham's wife became jealous and asked her husband to banish them to the desert."
"Accomplishments: Isaac obeyed God and followed the Lord's commands. He was a loyal husband to Rebekah. He became a patriarch of the Jewish nation, fathering Jacob and Esau. Jacob's 12 sons would go on to lead the 12 tribes of Israel. Feb 8, 2022"
"G‑d's insistence on Isaac as the progenitor of His chosen people tells us something very fundamental about the nature of our relationship with Him. For Ishmael and Isaac differed in two significant respects: Ishmael came into the world by natural means, while Isaac's birth was a supernatural event." Remind you of anybody?
"Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the time of which God had spoken to him. Abraham gave the name Isaac to the son whom Sarah bore him. Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. Now Sarah said," "God has brought laughter for me; everyone who hears will laugh with me."
"Ishmael was born and brought up in Abraham's household. Some 13 years later, however, Sarah conceived Isaac, with whom God established his covenant. Isaac became Abraham's sole heir, and Ishmael and Hagar were banished to the desert, though God promised that Ishmael would raise up a great nation of his own. Aug 14, 2023
Who are the current descendants of Ishmael?
"The "Arabized Arabs" (musta`ribah) of center, western, and North Arabia, descending from Ishmael the elder son of Abraham through his descendant Adnan. Such as the ancient tribe of Hawazin, or the modern-day tribes of Otaibah and Mutayr."
" Profane contempt of the Covenant. Malice against his brother and reminds me of the first murder in the Bible between Cain and Abel."
" Ishmael conduct was persecution , being done in profane contempt of the covenant and promise, and with malice against Isaac . God takes notice of what children say and do in their play; and will reckon with them, if they say or do amiss, though their parents do not. Mocking is a great sin, and very provoking to God ."
Why ask these questions below/above because there's not even one that is good according to God even when we are born again the only one good is God in heaven. But nonetheless people mock people including Christians and in turn this is a very evil thing to do because the tongue has life and death and unless the person is saved and forgiven they're going to give an accounting for their wickedness. Condemned or exalted? Matthew 12:36-37 Are we living a holy life or are we fooling ourselves? Too religious!
What is the biblical definition of mocking?
"We mock God if we think we can fool God because we can fool others. We mock God if we think we are more intelligent, more forward thinking, or more advanced than his Word. We mock God's word if we try to change it. Jesus was teaching that truth to his disciples in the parable of the sower (Matthew 13:1–23)."
Is it a sin to mock someone?
"Accordingly, to mock someone is a grave sin, and it is more grave to the extent that more respect is due to the person who is being mocked. This is why it is most grievous to mock God and the things of God—this according to Isaiah 37:23:" “Whom have you reproached?"
Now I'm giving credit to Henry Matthew and I can just link to it but I would rather have it here because we need to get down to the bare bones and have a commentary on this situation between Abraham's sons. It gives us good insight on the situation between Ishmael and Isaac.
Henry Matthew commentary Genesis 21:14
"And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba. 21:14-21 If Hagar and Ishmael had behaved well in Abraham's family, they might have continued there; but they were justly punished. By abusing privileges, we forfeit them. Those who know not when they are well off, will be made to know the worth of mercies by the want of them. They were brought to distress in the wilderness. It is not said that the provisions were spent, or that Abraham sent them away without money. But the water was spent; and having lost their way, in that hot climate Ishmael was soon overcome with fatigue and thirst. God's readiness to help us when we are in trouble, must not slacken, but quicken our endeavours to help ourselves. The promise concerning her son is repeated, as a reason why Hagar should bestir herself to help him. It should engage our care and pains about children and young people, to consider that we know not what great use God has designed them for, and may make of them. The angel directs her to a present supply. Many who have reason to be comforted, go mourning from day to day, because they do not see the reason they have for comfort. There is a well of water near them in the covenant of grace, but they are not aware of it, till the same God that opened their eyes to see their wound, opens them to see their remedy. Paran was a wild place, fit for a wild man; such as Ishmael. Those who are born after the flesh, take up with the wilderness of this world, while the children of the promise aim at the heavenly Canaan, and cannot be at rest till they are there. Yet God was with the lad; his outward welfare was owing to this."
What about Cain and Abel?
So for example Cain and Abel one's offering was rejected. "One of the more popular explanations has been that God preferred Abel's offering because it was the firstborn from his flock, while Cain's offering was a mere "garden variety" of assorted produce. Mar 8, 2023" now according to Saul look what he did: "Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he had committed against the Lord, because he did not keep the word of the Lord, and also because he consulted a medium for guidance." There were prophets that were angry at God. Let's take a look at a couple of them
Which prophet was angry with God?
"Jonah's anger was so severe that he said to God, Therefore now, O LORD, please take my life from me, for death is better to me than life."
"Jeremiah was angry with God, and he wrote about it in his prophecy. People have been reading what he wrote for two and a half thousand years. May 16, 2014"
Look how God took care of the Exiles and their complaining.
Why did the Israelites murmured against God?
"During the journey the Israelites murmured because of a lack of food. The Lord blessed them with manna and instructed them to gather it every morning except on the Sabbath. The children of Israel also murmured because of thirst. The Lord commanded Moses to strike a rock in Horeb so that water would come forth."
How did God punish the Israelites for murmuring?
"Instead of turning to God, the people complain about him and Moses (Numbers 21:5). The Israelites were once more punished for their grumbling. This time, a large number of them were murdered by the fiery serpents that God sent among them. They began to murmur against God and to complain against Moses."
So you see God gave us his only begotten son the biblical Lord Jewish born and bred Jesus Christ of Nazareth given the name Emmanuel which means God with us. While we were yet sinners and before the creation of the world God knew what had to be done and he sent his only begotten son whom is the word of God. In the beginning was the word and the word was with God. Christ often told people to repent or perish. Even when he met the Pharisees for dinner invited he didn't hold back from saying what was on his mind and it made people extremely angry. He wasn't the pushover that people like to paint that he's just love love love and he's completely fine with sin. He loves you so much. On the cross when Christ said father forgive them for they not know what they do what happened in the coming years and centuries? What happened to the Jewish people? It's not a lovely story. And we can get into that but I won't. Christ said people who abide in him bring forth much fruit. It's not always easy to abide in him and it wasn't easy for John the Baptist once he was in jail. Peter sold the lord out by denying him but not the way Judas did. And even when they went fishing in the storm came and Christ was sleeping what a great lesson they learned about when trials and tribulation comes. He was testing their faith and their courage. God's word instructs us to love your husbands woman or men wives the way Christ loved the church. It also instructs us to love our neighbors as ourselves or else what reward have we. God sees love as keeping his commandments and putting them before everything else and also knowing him and having a relationship with him. And in God's holy word he instructs us to keep our temples clean and that means no drugs, no alcohol, no sex outside of marriage, no swearing and vulgar language and he would like us to live a holy life. He tells us the tongue has the power of life and death. A few famous people have written songs and insulted Christianity thinking that would bring peace. But God tells us without him it's impossible to have peace. So you see on the day of judgment when so many hears that Christ doesn't know them it's for a profound reason. These people are being sent to outer darkness but they were under the impression that they were saved and earned their salvation to some degree but yet he doesn't recognize them but rejects them as his sheep. This is a wake-up call.
Notice Ecclesiastes 12:13. Solomon says, “The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God, and keep his commandments ; for that is the whole duty of everyone.”
When was the last time you examined yourself to see if you are in the faith?
My afternotes and thoughts summary.
Abraham had some special connection to/with God that when God promised he would have a son at an old age it happened but they also used their friend the slave for another child and that caused trouble. The interesting thing was between Ishmael and Isaac Abraham still loved ishmael. But Ishmael went on to be wicked and he's the son he had with not his wife but the slave and that's interesting well Isaac went on to be great and to make God very happy. But God still to certain degree honored Ishmael because of Abraham and his relationship with God. He must have been a great man. So the reason I compared Ishmael and Isaac to Cain and Abel was because these brothers had division and it seems the house couldn't stand together. Now important to note Abraham was not a pagan. But Isaac was not a pagan either but Ishmael might have embarked on that pagan misguidance of evil. For Isaac and Ishmael both were acquainted with great Nations and maybe tribes but Cain and Abel was horrific and very evil.
