"DO YOU EVER PUT GOD IN A BOX?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN
I AM SURE YOU HAVE READ THE STORY OF JESUS WALKING ON THE WATER. IF NOT, AT LEAST YOU HAVE HEARD THE STORY. EVEN UNBELIEVERS KNOW ABOUT JESUS WALKING ON THE WATER BUT THEY ARE USUALLY MAKING SOME JOKE ABOUT IT WHEN THEY MENTION IT.
I AM GOING TO PUT THE COMPLETE STORY BELOW AND SEE IF YOU CAN SEE WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. THIS WAS RIGHT AFTER JESUS HAD FED THE FIVE THOUSAND. I AM SURE THEY WERE TIRED SO HE TOLD HIS DISCIPLES TO GET IN THE BOAT AND GO TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SEA OF GALILEE.
MATTHEW 14:22-29 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
DO YOU SEE IT? PETER SAID TO JESUS, IF IT IS YOU, LET ME COME TO YOU ON THE WATER. WHAT WAS JESUS GOING TO SAY, NO PETER, IT IS NOT ME? SO JESUS SAID COME. MAYBE JESUS DID NOT WANT PETER TO COME TO HIM ON THE WATER BUT THE WAY PETER ASKED HIM, JESUS COULD ONLY SAY, COME. DO YOU EVER DO THAT IN YOUR PRAYERS? DO YOU EVER ASK JESUS IF HE WANTS YOU TO DO THIS, OR TO DO THAT? MAYBE HE DOESN'T WANT YOU TO DO EITHER ONE. WE REALLY NEED TO WATCH HOW WE PRAY. WE NEVER SHOULD PUT JESUS IN A BOX BUT GIVE HIM THE CHANCE TO TELL US WHAT HE WANTS. HE ALREADY KNOWS OUR NEEDS BUT SINCE THE BIBLE SAYS TO ASK, THEN WE SHOULD ASK, BUT ASK IN THE RIGHT WAY.
ONE OTHER THING BEFORE I CLOSE. ARE YOU READY TO RECEIVE WHAT YOU HAVE PRAYED FOR? IS THERE SOMETHING YOU SHOULD BE DOING TO GET READY FOR YOUR ANSWER? JUST THINK ABOUT IT AND ASK HOLY SPIRIT TO SHOW YOU. HE IS ALWAYS THERE WITH YOU SO ASK HIM. WE SHOULD NEVER TRY TO DO IT ALONE.
