Activate your faith

I come to you in the name of our Father in heaven. Not as a preacher or minister, but as a person who's trying to be a better man by excercising my faith. I know that it's by Gods grace that I still have life. Although I do not know God's complete purpose for me I'm learning how to pray better. Not just to ask God for what I want and need but more importantly to ask God for what he wants from me. In the process I'm developing better listening skills. After all prayer is just having a conversation with God and in any good conversation there's talking and listening. I've been asking God for guidance and I've started reading his word trying to get a better understanding of it. I know that God wants us to be productive and put in some work. To be productive we must have faith along with works. (James 2:14-17 says : Of what benefit is it, my brothers, if a certain one says he has faith but he does not have works? That faith can not save him can it? If a brother or a sister is naked and lacking food sufficient for the day, yet a certain one of you says to them: Go in peace, keep warm and well fed, but you do not give them the necessities for their body, of what benefit is it. Thus too faith , if it does not have works is dead in itself.) God gave us all a measure of faith. Have faith in Gods word and take time to read it for yourself. Also share the good news about our Father in heaven. Visit the sick, invite someone to church, bible study, or maybe a website (Hint, Hint, Only Thank God.com), share your testimony and help someone in need because faith apart from works is inactive. It is up to each of us to activate our faith. We activate it by trusting in Gods word inspite of our situation. We allow it to grow by putting in work, allowing the light of Jesus to shine through us by our words and our actions. Today be encouraged and offer encouragement to others. Don't think for a moment that your not important enough to make a difference. God can use you as you are right now. Go to Him today with your concerns, put your trust in Him then go and tell someone how good God is. Where ever you are in life, get on your mark, get set, Activate Your Faith.

Beautiful post, I featured it. I agree brother, there comes a time when we must "walk the walk", instead of just "talking the talk". We have to get up off our Church pews, and lift our heads up out of studies (not that those are bad things) and actually go out and try to make a difference in the world! Faith working through love, should be manifested in our lives. Ken

That's an awesome post, brother. I believe with all my heart that people are THE single most important thing to God, and our "works" are measured, by Him, by what we do to help other people through our love for God. It seems that many people in our world today (celebrities, for example) do awesome works to help others, but not for God's glory, and not out of love for humankind, but rather for self-gratification. Many acknowledge God through their works, yet their works are based on their own selfish desires. As Ken said, "faith, working through love, should be manifested in our lives."
