"WHAT DOES DEATH MEAN TO YOU?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

WHAT DOES DEATH MEAN TO YOU?

I GUESS SINCE I AM SO OLD THAT PEOPLE FIND IT EASY TO TALK ABOUT DEATH WITH ME.  SOME ARE AFRAID TO DIE, SOME ARE JUST CURIOUS AND I BELIEVE THERE ARE ONE OR TWO THAT JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF I WAS AFRAID TO DIE.  WELL, THE ANSWER TO THAT IS NO, I AM NOT AFRAID TO DIE.  WHEN THE LORD IS FINISHED WITH ME HERE ON THIS EARTH, I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO IT.   WHAT IS THERE TO FEAR ABOUT DEATH, IF YOU ARE BORN AGAIN.  FOR US WHO ARE, WE WILL JUST CLOSE OUR EYES FOR THE LAST TIME HERE AND OPEN THEM LOOKING ON THE FACE OF JESUS.  THAT IS NOT SCARY TO ME.  FOR YOU WHO ARE NOT BORN AGAIN, THAT IS A DIFFERENT STORY.

A FRIEND OF THE FAMILY, SOME 20 YEARS AGO, WAS ALWAYS SAYING THAT SHE WAS GOING TO DIE AT 70.  WHEN I ASK WHY SHE THOUGHT THAT WAY SHE SAID IT WAS IN THE BIBLE.  I TOLD HER THAT IT WENT...

"NO PEACE FOR THE WICKED" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

No Peace For The Wicked

Luke 9:7, 'Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed, because that it was said of some that John was risen from the dead.'

MATTHEW 14:1-12: MARK 6:14-29; LUKE 9:7-9

Others may have thought Jesus was John the Baptist risen from the dead, but as can be clearly seen by looking at Matthew's account and especially Mark's record, Herod was convinced of this personally. This illustrates Herod's own conviction of the sin John had rebuked, his guilt and torment over his even greater sin of beheading John, and his fear of John and the God he represented. As revealed in Mark 6:20, Herod once listened to John gladly. It is certain that John was preaching his favorite message of,...

JESUS IS THE ONE

DO YOU GET DISCOURAGED AND FEARFUL ONCE IN A WHILE?  WITH THE ECONOMY THE WAY IT IS AND NOW THIS VIRUS, I AM SURE A LOT OF US DO.  HEARING ABOUT SOMEONE IN THE BIBLE LET'S US KNOW THAT WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES THAT HAS A BAD DAY ONCE IN A WHILE. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT WE DON'T HAVE TO STAY IN THAT STATE.  GOD ALWAYS GIVES US A WAY OUT.  AS BAD AS IT IS, WE SHOULD NOT FEAR IT BUT TRUST JESUS TO TAKE CARE OF US.

IF SOME OF YOU ARE FEARFUL, LET ME GIVE YOU A FEW SCRIPTURES TO HELP YOU.

"THE UNPARDONABLE SIN" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

The Unpardonable Sin

MATTHEW 12:31, 'Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shalt be forgiven unto men: but blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.'

LUKE 12:10; MATTHEW 12:24-31; MARK 3:22-30

The word 'blaspheme' means 'to speak evil of; defame; or revile.' In context, Jesus is saying that blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is attributing the working of the Holy Spirit to the devil. Many people in the Bible did this, including Saul, who became the Apostle Paul. However, we see in 1 Timothy 1:13, that Paul said he received mercy concerning his blaspnemy because he had done it 'ignorantly in unbelief.' Therefore, the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost that Jesus warns about must be the willful...

"DO YOU REALLY TRUST JESUS?" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

DO YOU REALLY TRUST JESUS?

I WONDER WHY IT IS THAT SOME PEOPLE, EVEN CHRISTIANS, DO NOT TRUST JESUS?  OH, I KNOW THEY SAY THEY DO BUT DO THEY?  I BELIEVE THIS IS BECAUSE YOU CANNOT TRUST SOMEONE YOU DON'T KNOW.  WE WOULDN'T TRUST A PERFECT STRANGER, OR EVEN A NEW ACQUAINTANCE, WITH SOME OF THE THINGS IN OUR LIVES BUT JESUS SHOULD NOT BE A STRANGER TO ANY OF US.  GET TO KNOW HIM THROUGH HIS WORD.  HE EVEN SAYS IN JEREMIAH 29:18 THAT HE WILL DELIVER US BECAUSE WE HAVE TRUSTED HIM. "For I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the Lord".  ARE YOU TRUSTING HIM?

DO YOU KNOW WHY WE SHOULD TRUST JESUS?  UNLIKE MEN, HE NEVER LIES AND NEVER FAILS TO FULFILL HIS PROMISES.  THAT IS WHAT IT SAYS IN NUMBERS 23:19 AND PSALM 89:34. I WILL...

"BEING YOKED TO JESUS" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2020-03-28

Being Yoked To Jesus

Matthew 11:28-30, 'Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.'

MATTHEW 11:20-30

Yokes were made of wood with two hollowed out sections on the bottom portion that rested on the necks of oxen, which used to plow or to draw a cart. Figuratively, a yoke symbolized servitude or submission. Jesus is admonishing us to submit ourselves to Him, for true rest comes from serving Him - not ourselves.

A new ox was often trained for plowing or drawing a cart by yoking him with an experienced ox. The yoke kept the young ox...

"UNDERSTANDING GOD'S MERCY" BY DAVID MCMILLEN

UNDERSTANDING GOD'S MERCY

AS YOU KNOW I AM ALWAYS LOOKING UP WORDS IN THE DICTIONARY AND I HAVE ONE MORE FOR YOU TODAY...."MERCY".  I FOUND THIS DEFINITION IN THE 1828 WEBSTER'S DICTIONARY.

"That benevolence, mildness or tenderness of heart which disposes a person to overlook injuries, or to treat an offender better than he deserves; the disposition that tempers justice, and induces an injured person to forgive trespasses and injuries, and to forbear punishment, or inflict less than law or justice will warrant. In this sense, there is perhaps no word in our language precisely synonymous with mercy. That which comes nearest to it is grace. It implies benevolence, tenderness, mildness, pity or compassion, and clemency, but exercised only towards offenders. Mercy is a distinguishing attribute of Jesus."

Our Inheritance With Christ

Matthew 11:11, 'Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding, he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.'

MATTHEW 11:2-19, LUKE 7:18-35

Much of the Old Testament deals with future events and the coming Messiah and His Kingdom. Not only was John the Baptist the voice of God to his generation, he was also the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy. He did not merely prophesy about the coming Messiah and the New Covenant, as the Old Testament prophets did, but he actually prepared the way for the hearts of the people to receive Jesus by bearing witness to the Light.

Although John the Baptist was the...

TEACHING ABOUT JESUS AND THE BIBLE

I TALK A LOT ABOUT STUDYING GOD'S WORD AND GETTING PEOPLE BORN AGAIN AND GETTING PEOPLE BORN AGAIN IS FIRST AND FOREMOST OF WHAT WE SHOULD BE DOING BUT WE CAN'T STOP THERE.  YOU MIGHT ASK WHAT IS THERE AFTER BEING BORN AGAIN.  NATURALLY YOU SHOULD START LIVING A GOOD CHRISTIAN LIFE BUT THAT STILL IS NOT ALL.

THE FOUR GOSPELS REFER TO JESUS TEACHING 43 TIMES,...

"WHOSE FAITH WAS IT" BY ANDREW WOMMACK

By DAVID A. MCMILLEN, 2020-03-26

Whose Faith Was It

Luke 7:13-14, 'And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not, And he came and touched the bier: and they that bear him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.'

LUKE 7:11-17

This example of the widow's son being raised from the dead is often used to demonstrate that Jesus produced many miracles without any faith from those receiving the miracle, but by His faith alone. However, the prayer in Mark 6:5-6 shows that Jesus could not (nor would not) do many mighty works in His home town because of the people's unbelief. Many scriptures reveal that faith must be present to receive from God (Mk. 11:23-24; Jas. 1:5-7).

So, whose faith was present in this...
