"For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me." Psalm 22:16,17

Have you ever been so alone that even your bones have become your only friends and are depending upon you for answers? Too bad we can't claim them individually on our taxes!   Have you ever been so afflicted that you felt forsaken by God? Here, David is in that place. He was crying out to God through what is known as one of the Messianic Psalms, Psalm 22. These psalms give us comfort because we see that King David was just a man like you and I, subject to tears and fears, subject to the excruciating pains from within his heart and mind when he felt abandoned and without hope. His petition is asking God what he should say to his bones that stand waiting so long for his help. It might have sounded like this, "David, this is your feet, how much further do we have to walk? David, this your heart, I'm scared, are we going to be ok? David, this is your knees and your spine, how much longer do we have to pray?" They were all in concert petioning David for answers that David couldn't provide for them. So David cried out to God. Have you ever been there? Surrounded by your enemy and surrounded by the questions that your own physical self so required an answer for? David was there and we are fortunate to see this and take comfort in our times of suffering.

"For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ." 2Corinthians 1:5 Take comfort in Jesus and His word. He is our consolation!
