I AM AN 80 YEAR OLD MALE, BORN AGAIN, CHRISTIAN WITH A LOVE FOR JESUS. I DO NOT GET OUT MUCH ANYMORE BUT FIND THAT TELLING PEOPLE ABOUT THE LOVE JESUS HAS FOR THEM IS NOT ONLY WHAT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO DO BUT SOMETHING THAT THE WORLD NEEDS.

BEYOND THE CROSS
DID YOU KNOW THAT JESUS' DISCIPLES DIDN'T KNOW THAT HE WAS GOING TO BE CRUCIFIED ON THE CROSS? THAT IS WHAT IT SAYS IN LUKE 18:31-34 Then He took unto Him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. For He shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on: And they shall scourge Him, and put Him to death: and the third day He shall rise again. And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken. EVEN AFTER HIM TELLING THEM ALL THE THINGS THAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN TO HIM, THEY UNDERSTOOD NONE OF IT. SURPRISING, ISN'T IT.
HOW MUCH DO WE UNDERSTAND ABOUT IT? WE HAVE THE BIBLE TO TELL US ALL THINGS BUT DO WE UNDERSTAND OR DO WE JUST READ OVER IT LIGHTLY? LET US LOOK AT A FEW THINGS.
JESUS WAS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD, YET WHEN HE DIED, IT WAS DARK ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH FOR THREE HOURS. THE TENTH PLAGUE WAS DARKNESS WHICH MEANT JUDGEMENT. WHEN HE DIED HE BECAME THE SACRIFICIAL LAMB FOR US. OUR SINS WERE PLACED ON HIM SO WE MIGHT BE FREE FROM SIN AND DEATH.
HE DIED ON PASSOVER AND WE REMEMBER HOW THE LORD SAVED THE HEBREW PEOPLE AS THEY PLACED THE BLOOD OF A LAMB ON THEIR DOORPOSTS AS THE DEATH ANGEL PASSED OVER. JESUS COVERED US WITH HIS BLOOD.
THE LIVING WATER BECAME THIRSTY ON THE CROSS. HE TELLS US IN JOHN 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. WE SHOULD ALL BE THIRSTY.....ARE YOU?
WHEN HE SAID "IT IS FINISHED", HE HAD FINISHED THE FIRST PART OF HIS GOSPEL, HE DIED OR AS IT SAYS IN JOHN 19:30 HE "gave up the ghost." PLEASE NOTE THAT "HE GAVE UP THE GHOST" AND THAT NO ONE TOOK HIS LIFE FROM HIM. HE GAVE IT FREELY FOR US. THE SECOND AND THIRD PART OF THE GOSPEL IS FOUND IN 1ST CORINTHIANS 15:4 WHERE IT SAYS "He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures". THIS IS THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST THAT HE DIED, WAS BURIED AND ROSE FROM THE DEAD. THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE TO BELIEVE AND ACCEPT TO BE SAVED.
IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN FINISHED FOR JESUS BUT NOT FOR US. THE BIBLE SAYS IN PHILIPPAINS 1:6 THAT "He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ". WE ARE A WORK IN PROGRESS BECAUSE GOD IS NOT THROUGH WITH US AND WILL GUIDE US, IF WE WILL LET HIM, UNTIL THE END. HE KNOWS THE FEELING OF BEING FORSAKEN AND BEING HEART BROKEN. DON'T YOU KNOW HE FELT THESE THINGS WHEN GOD TURNED HIS BACK OF HIM AS GOD COULDN'T LOOK ON ALL THE SIN JESUS HAD TAKEN UPON HIMSELF. TRY TO LISTEN TO THE PAIN IN JESUS VOICE WHEN HE SAID "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" IT MAKES ME CRY.
SOMETIMES WE HAVE TO HELP SOMEONE WHEN THEY BELIEVE THEIR CROSS IS TOO GREAT TO BEAR. WE NEED TO BE THERE FOR EACH OTHER, PRAY FOR EACH OTHER, ENCOURAGE EACH OTHER AND DO EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER TO HELP EACH OTHER. JESUS GAVE US A COMMANDMENT IN JOHN 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. I JUST WANT TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO TELL YOU ALL THAT I REALLY DO LOVE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU.
