BIBLICALLY EXPOSING A CULT
I HAVE WRITTEN ABOUT THIS BEFORE BUT THE QUESTION HAS COME UP AGAIN ASKING IF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES IS A CULT. IN THE BOOK "TAKE BACK YOUR LIFE - RECOVERING FROM CULTS AND ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIPS", IT DEFINES A CULT AS " A group or movement that exhibits great or excessive devotion to some person, idea, or thing, using coercive methods of persuasion (undue social influence) and control (e.g., isolation from former friends and family, powerful group pressures, information management, suspension of individuality or critical judgment, promotion of total dependency on the group and fear of leaving) to advance the goals of the group, with actual or possible detriment to members, their families and the local and world community.” AS I UNDERSTAND IT, JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES FALLS INTO THIS CATEGORY.
WHETHER THEY ARE A CULT OR NOT, THEIR DOCTRINE DOES NOT LINE UP WITH GOD'S WORD AND THAT IS A PROBLEM. THEY DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THAT JESUS IS GOD. TO ME, THIS IS ENOUGH NOT TO ASSOCIATE WITH THEM BUT THE BIBLE MAKES IT PLAIN WHAT WE ARE TO DO.
IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WHEN A MEMBER OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES COMES TO YOUR DOOR, I WILL TELL YOU WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS. IT IS FOUND IN 2ND JOHN 1:9-11 AND I WILL QUOTE IT HERE "Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds." I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU BUT I AM NOT GOING TO BE PARTAKERS OF THEIR EVIL DEEDS.
