FAITH OR FEAR, WHAT IS YOUR CHOICE?
ONE OF THE DEFINITIONS OF "FAITH" IS "belief that is not based on proof. HEBREWS 11:1 PUTS IT THIS WAY "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen". WE HAVE FAITH IN GOD AND THIS COMES BY HEARING AND STUDYING HIS WORD AND BELIEVING HE WILL DO EVERYTHING HE SAYS HE WILL DO. LET'S LOOK AT A FEW PASSAGES ON FAITH.
I f ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
The refore being justified by faith , we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
G od hath dealt to every man the measure of faith .
F or whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
T hy faith hath made thee whole .
T hy faith hath saved thee .
T he just shall live by faith.
F or we walk by faith , not by sight .
F or by grace are ye saved through faith
NOW LET'S LOOK AT "FEAR" WHICH DEFINITION IS "a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger". NOW LET'S LOOK AT TWO PASSAGES ON FEAR.
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR FAITH AND FEAR TO EXIST TOGETHER. EPHESIANS 2:8 TELLS US THAT FAITH IS A GIFT. ( For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God .) WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN SOMEONE GIVES YOU A GIFT? YOU ACCEPT IT AND USE IT. IF YOU DON'T, IT DOES YOU NO GOOD AT ALL. YOU MIGHT SAY THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE FAITH BUT THAT IS JUST NOT TRUE. YOU USE FAITH EVERY DAY OF YOUR LIFE IN SOME WAY. IF YOU DID NOT HAVE FAITH THAT A CHAIR WOULD HOLD YOU, WOULD YOU SIT IN IT? GOD HAS GIVEN EVERYONE THE MEASURE OF FAITH.
WE WILL HAVE MANY TRIALS DURING OUR LIFETIME THAT "COULD" CAUSE FEAR, IF WE LET IT. HOWEVER, THE BIBLE SAYS IN PHILIPPIANS 4:7 THAT " The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. " IF A FEARFUL THOUGHT COMES TO YOUR MIND, CAST IT OUT AND HAVE FAITH THAT GOD HAS EVERYTHING IN CONTROL. HE LOVES US AND WANTS THE BEST FOR US. TURN EVERYTHING OVER TO HIM AND THEN YOU WON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT. AND WHEN YOU DO, DON'T TRY TO HELP HIM BECAUSE HE IS BIG ENOUGH TO TAKE CARE OF IT BY HIMSELF. JUST KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE IS NO FEAR IN LOVE. I LOVE THE SAYING "WHEN FEAR KNOCKS AT YOUR DOOR, LET FAITH ANSWER IT."
