ONLY OUR OWN INIQUITIES
HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED WHAT EXODUS 20:4-5 REALLY MEANS? I WILL QUOTE IT HERE "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me". THIS IS THE SECOND COMMANDMENT AND AT ONE TIME I REALLY WAS CONCERNED AT WHAT MY DAD OR GRANDDAD MIGHT HAVE DONE THAT I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT. IT WAS MENTIONED TWO MORE TIMES, EXODUS 34:7 AND NUMBERS 14:18. I SURE DON'T WANT THE INIQUITIES OF MY DAD OR GRANDDAD COMING UPON ME.
IF YOU HAVE EVER BEEN CONCERNED ABOUT THIS, I THINK I CAN EASE YOUR MIND. JEREMIAH PROPHESIED IN CHAPTER 31, VERSES 29-30 THAT "In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge. But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge." EVERYONE IS ACCOUNTABLE FOR HIS OWN SINS.
AS FOR THE GRAVEN IMAGES, I DEALT WITH THAT IN AN EARLIER MESSAGE AND UNLESS YOU ARE MAKING IT TO WORSHIP, I SEE NO PROBLEM WITH IT.
