REMEMBERING HIS GREAT LOVE FOR US
TODAY IS PALM SUNDAY WHICH MARKS THE BEGINNING OF HOLY WEEK. A LOT OF CHRISTIAN CHURCHES GIVE OUT PALM LEAVES TO COMMEMORATE WHEN JESUS ENTERED INTO JERUSALEM WHERE PALM BRANCHES WERE PUT IN HIS PATH. THIS IS JUST BEFORE HIS ARREST AND CRUCIFIXION ON FRIDAY.
HOWEVER, BEFORE HIS ENTRANCE INTO JERUSALEM, JESUS SENT TWO OF HIS DISCIPLES TO GET THE COLT HE WAS TO RIDE ON. HE TOLD THEM TO "Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him. And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither." WHOEVER OWNED THE COLT MUST HAVE BEEN GREATLY HONORED TO HAVE JESUS CHOOSE HIM TO SUPPLY HIS RIDE. WHAT A BLESSING.
IT WAS A GREAT CELEBRATION AND AS MARK 11:9-10 PUTS IT " And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest. " WITH JESUS KNOWING WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN TO HIM THAT WEEK, I AM SURE HE WAS NOT CELEBRATING. WE KNOW THAT IT WAS HARD FOR HIM, WANTING TO DIE FOR ALL OF OUR SINS BUT NOT WANTING TO BE CRUCIFIED. WE KNOW THIS FROM WHAT HE SAID IN THE GARDEN IN HIS PRAYER, MARK 14:36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt. THANK YOU JESUS FOR BEING OBEDIENT.
IF WE ALL THINK ABOUT WHAT HE WENT THROUGH THAT WEEK, WE WILL SEE THE LOVE HE HAS FOR US. HE DIED FOR US SO LET'S LIVE FOR HIM.
