ASK AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN YOU
ASK AND IT SHALL BE GIVEN YOU
I HAVE BEEN STUDYING ALL THE PLACES IN THE NEW TESTAMENT WHERE JESUS IS TELLING US TO "ASK" AND FOUND IT EXCITING. I WOULD SUGGEST TO YOU TO DO THE SAME. I KNOW YOU WILL ENJOY IT. JUST READ AND THINK ON THEM. HE IS TELLING US TO ASK ALTHOUGH HE KNOWS WHAT WE NEED EVEN BEFORE WE ASK. HOWEVER, IF HE SAYS ASK, THEN WE SHOULD ASK.
WE JUST NEED TO REMEMBER TO ASK IN HIS NAME. THAT IS WHAT HE TELLS US IN JOHN 14:13-14 WHERE HE SAYS "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it." THAT IS PRETTY CLEAR TO ME.
WE ALSO NEED TO REMEMBER TO ASK ACCORDING TO HIS WILL. THAT IS WHAT IT SAYS IN 1ST JOHN 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. HE WILL NEVER GO AGAINST HIS WILL.
ONE LAST THING, JESUS TELLS US IN MARK 11:24 "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." IF YOU PRAY FOR THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN, YOU HAVEN'T BELIEVED YOU RECEIVED IT. USE YOUR FAITH TO BRING IT FROM THE SPIRITUAL WORLD INTO YOUR LIFE. USE YOUR FAITH AND RECEIVE WHAT GOD HAS ALREADY GIVEN TO YOU.
I WILL LEAVE YOU WITH THESE TWO VERSES WHICH SHOW A REAL CONTRAST ON ASKING AND ABIDING IN THE LORD OR NOT. FROM THIS, I KNOW WE ALL WANT TO ABIDE IN HIM. JOHN 15:6-7 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
