I AM AN 80 YEAR OLD MALE, BORN AGAIN, CHRISTIAN WITH A LOVE FOR JESUS. I DO NOT GET OUT MUCH ANYMORE BUT FIND THAT TELLING PEOPLE ABOUT THE LOVE JESUS HAS FOR THEM IS NOT ONLY WHAT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO DO BUT SOMETHING THAT THE WORLD NEEDS.

JESUS....POOR??????
JESUS, POOR??????
A LOT OF PEOPLE TRY TO PAINT A PICTURE OF JESUS AND HIS DISCIPLES AS BEING POOR. I THINK A LOT OF THEM GET IT FROM THE SCRIPTURE MATTHEW 8:20 WHERE IT SAYS "And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head." THIS VERSE WAS TALKING ABOUT WHEN HE WAS GOING TO JERUSALEM AND THE SAMARITANS, BECAUSE OF THEIR RELIGIOUS PREJUDICE, REFUSED HIM HOSPITALITY. I BELIEVE HE WAS TYING TO SHOW HIS DISCIPLES THAT IF THEY FOLLOWED HIM, THERE WOULD BE PERSECUTION.
JESUS AND HIS DISCIPLES HAD MONEY AND GAVE MUCH TO THE POOR. THEY EVEN HAD A BANKER, JUDAS, AS THE BIBLE STATES THAT HE WAS THE KEEPER OF THE BAG. (JOHN 12:4-6 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.) JUDAS WAS TALKING ABOUT WHEN MARY WAS ANOINTING THE FEET OF JESUS.
THE BIBLE ACTUALLY SAYS THAT JESUS HAD A PLACE TO LIVE. (I JOHN 1:38-39 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou? He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.) ONE OF THE TWO DISCIPLES WAS ANDREW, PETER'S BROTHER. WHEN ANDREW LEFT JESUS' PLACE, HE WENT DIRECTLY TO PETER AND TOLD HIM THAT HE HAD FOUND THE MESSIAH. THIS WAS IN THE BEGINNING OF JESUS' MINISTRY.
NOW THE BIBLE DOES SAY THAT JESUS BECAME POOR FOR OUR SAKES SO WE WOULD NOT HAVE TO LIVE IN POVERTY. (2ND CORINTHIANS 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.) YOU WILL EVEN NOTICE HERE THAT IT SAYS "THOUGH HE WAS RICH".
NOW I SAID ALL OF THIS TO REMIND YOU THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE IN POVERTY. JESUS HAS MADE A WAY AND THAT WAY IS TO HAVE FAITH TO BELIEVE THE PROMISES HE HAS MADE US, AND RECEIVE THEM. THE OTHER WAY IS TO STAND ON MATTHEW 6:33 WHERE IT SAYS "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." JUST SEEK JESUS.
