THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF JESUS
I HAVE HEARD A LOT OF TEACHINGS ABOUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS BEING SHED FOR OUR SINS AS COMPARED TO THE ANIMAL SACRIFICES IN THE OLD TESTAMENT WHEN MOSES HAD RECEIVED THE LAW. LOOK AT HEBREWS 9;19-22 WHERE IT SAYS " For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you. Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission." THE DIFFERENCE IS THAT THE PRIEST SOMETIMES KEPT OFFERING THE SAME SACRIFICE BUT LOOK AT HEBREWS 10:11-12 WHERE IT SAYS "And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God."
I FIND IT INTERESTING THAT LEVITICUS 16:14 IN SHOWING WHAT IS TO COME ABOUT THE SHEDDING OF JESUS' BLOOD SEVEN TIMES. READ WHAT IT SAYS "And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times." THE REASON THIS IS SO INTERESTING TO ME IS THAT JESUS DID SHED HIS BLOOD SEVEN TIMES. I WILL LIST THEM BELOW WITH SCRIPTURES TO BACK IT UP.
(1) IN THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE WHERE THE BIBLE SAYS IN LUKE 22:44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
(2) THERE WAS THE BLOOD WHERE HIS BEARD WAS PULLED OUT WHICH WAS FORETOLD BY ISAIAH AND WE KNOW IT HAPPENED BECAUSE JESUS FULFILLED ALL THE PROPHESIES. ISAIAH 50:6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
(3) THE BLOOD FROM THE CROWN OF THORNS BEING PUSHED DOWN ON HIS HEAD. MATTHEW 27:29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
(4) THE BLOOD FROM HIS BACK WHICH WAS BEATEN AND HE TOOK THOSE STRIPES SO WE COULD BE HEALED. 1ST PETER 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
(5) THE BLOOD FROM HIS HANDS WHERE HE WAS NAILED TO THE CROSS. JOHN 20:25-27 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
(6) THE BLOOD FROM HIS FEET WHEN THEY NAILED HIM TO THE CROSS. WE KNOW THIS HAPPENED FROM WHAT JESUS TOLD THE DISCIPLES WHEN HE APPEARED TO THEM AFTER THE CRUCIFIXION. LOOK AT LUKE 24:36-40 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.
(7) THE BLOOD FROM HIS SIDE WHERE THE SOLDIERS PIERCED IT WITH A SPEAR. JOHN 19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
WHEN WE ARE TALKING TO JESUS, WE ALL SHOULD REMEMBER TO THANK HIM, EVERY DAY, FOR WHAT HE DID FOR US. RATHER THAN JUST THANKING HIM, WE SHOULD SHOW HIM BY OBEYING WHAT HE SAYS. THE BEST VERSES I KNOW OF THAT SHOWS WHAT WE SHOULD DO IS MATTHEW 10:8 WHERE IT SAYS "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give." AND MARK 16:15 WHERE JESUS SAYS "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." WE ALL SHOULD STUDY THE WORD AND THEN GO AND DO IT. THIS WILL SHOW HIM THAT WE LOVE HIM.

We are all dependent on the atonement and it is wise to take into account the Jewish sacrificial system which forshadowed it. Otherwise it can become divorced from the legal contect as in some understandings of atonement .
