IS BAPTISM NECESSARY FOR SALVATION?
IS BAPTISM NECESSARY FOR SALVATION?
DO YOU BELIEVE IT IS NECESSARY TO BE BAPTIZED TO BE BORN AGAIN? I HAVE HEARD A LOT OF TEACHINGS ON THIS AND I AM GOING TO GIVE YOU SCRIPTURE WHICH, I BELIEVE, CONFIRMS THAT IT IS NECESSARY. I WROTE A MESSAGE ON THIS BEFORE AND I LEFT IT UP TO YOU ALL AS TO WHAT YOU WANTED TO BELIEVE. HOWEVER, FROM SCRIPTURE, I DON'T BELIEVE THERE IS ANY DOUBT, SO LET'S LOOK AT THE SCRIPTURES.
IN ACTS 2:38, WHEN PETER WAS TALKING TO ALL THAT HAD GATHERED ON THE DAY OF PENTECOST, HE SAYS "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." HERE, PETER SPEAKS OF BEING BAPTIZED.
WHEN PAUL WAS IN PRISON, HE ALSO MENTIONS BAPTISM AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE WHEN THE THE JAILER ASK HIM "WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED". PAUL SAYS IN ACTS 16:31-33 "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway."
JUST FOR YOUR INFORMATION, I WILL MENTION THREE SCRIPTURES THAT DO NOT MENTION BAPTISM.
MOST EVERYONE KNOWS JOHN 3:16 WHICH SAYS "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
PAUL WROTE TO THE CHURCH AT THESSALONICA IN 1ST THESSALONIANS 4:14 THAT "If we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him."
JOHN, WRITING TO SOME CHRISTIANS, WHO WERE FACED WITH A THREAT FROM FALSE TEACHERS, SAID IN 1ST JOHN 5:13 "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."
NOW FOR THE FINAL PROOF WHICH IS FOUND IN MARK 16:15-16, WHERE JESUS SAYS "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." YOU CAN STILL DECIDED WHAT YOU WANT TO BELIEVE BUT IF YOU BELIEVE JESUS, THEN YOU WOULD HAVE TO BELIEVE IN BAPTISM.
THE ONLY OTHER THING THAT I COULD ADD IS THAT SOME PEOPLE INTERPRET THE SCRIPTURES AS WHEN YOU ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR SAVIOR, IT MEANS YOU ARE BAPTIZED, AT THAT MOMENT, IN HIM. IF ANYONE FINDS SCRIPTURE PERTAINING TO THIS BELIEF, PLEASE LET ME KNOW SO I CAN READ IT.
