I AM AN 80 YEAR OLD MALE, BORN AGAIN, CHRISTIAN WITH A LOVE FOR JESUS. I DO NOT GET OUT MUCH ANYMORE BUT FIND THAT TELLING PEOPLE ABOUT THE LOVE JESUS HAS FOR THEM IS NOT ONLY WHAT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO DO BUT SOMETHING THAT THE WORLD NEEDS.

ALWAYS WATCH YOUR TONGUE

                    ALWAYS WATCH YOUR TONGUE

HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED IF SWEARING (CURSING OR USING BAD WORDS) IS A SIN?  THE BIBLE SAYS IT IS IN SEVERAL PLACES.  LET'S LOOK AT A COUPLE. EPHESIANS 4:29 SAYS "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers." AND, 1ST PETER 4:10 SAYS "As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God."

I THINK JAMES 3:9-12 SUMS IT UP PRETTY GOOD WHEN IT SAYS "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water."

WE SHOULD NOT PRAISE GOD ON ONE HAND AND CURSE OUR BROTHERS ON THE OTHER.  THIS IS NOT CHRIST LIKE.  JESUS SAYS WHAT COMES OUT OF OUR MOUTHS IS THAT WHICH FILLS OUR HEARTS.   IF WE FILL OUR HEARTS WITH THE GOODNESS AND LOVE OF GOD, PRAISING HIM AND LOVING OTHERS, I DON'T BELIEVE ANY CURSING WILL COME OUT OF OUR MOUTHS.

I WILL SUM IT UP THIS WAY.  WHEN WE SWEAR AND CURSE, WE HAVE NOT RENEWED OUR MINDS LIKE PAUL SAYS TO DO IN ROMANS 12:2  "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."  WHEN WE DO THIS, OUR HEARTS ARE TRANSFORMED AND OUR SPEECH REFLECTS THE NEW NATURE GOD HAS CREATED IN US. HOWEVER, WHEN SOMETHING DOES SLIP OUT, WE HAVE TO CONFESS AND REPENT.  PRAISE GOD THAT 1ST JOHN 1:9 SAYS "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." THEN WHAT HAPPENS IS THAT THE FORGIVENESS THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN PROVIDED THROUGH JESUS IS APPLIED TO THIS SIN.  WHEN THIS HAPPENS, SATAN CAN HAVE NO HOLD OVER YOU BECAUSE OF THE SIN.  NOW THAT IS SOMETHING TO SHOUT ABOUT.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
