WHY THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
HAVE YOU EVER STUDY WHY GOD GAVE THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OR THE LAW, AS THEY ARE CALLED? BEFORE THEM, GOD WAS NOT CHARGING ANY SIN TO ANYONE. THINGS WERE REALLY GETTING BAD SO GOD GAVE THEM TO SHOW PEOPLE JUST HOW BAD THEY WERE. LOOK WHAT PAUL SAYS IN ROMANS 7:7-8 "What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead." I DID NOT KNOW WHAT CONCUPISCENCE MEANT SO I LOOKED IT UP AND IT MEANS "strong desire, especially sexual desire". THE LAW, "THE TEN COMMANDMENTS", ULTIMATELY WERE GIVEN TO SHOW PEOPLE THEY NEEDED A SAVIOR.
THE FIRST THREE VERSES IN EPHESIANS 2 TELLS US JUST HOW BAD PEOPLE WERE. IT READS "And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others." MEN WERE ON THE FAST TRACK TO HELL AND THAT IS WHAT EVERYONE DESERVED.
NOW LET'S LOOK AT THE NEXT SIX VERSES IN EPHESIANS 2 AND THIS SHOULD GIVE EVERYONE SOMETHING TO SHOUT ABOUT. IT SAYS "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." HE DID ALL THIS EVEN THOUGH WE WERE "DEAD IN SIN".
WITH ALL THAT HE DID FOR US, AND IS STILL DOING THAT WE DON'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT, WE SHOULD ALL BE THANKING HIM AND LIVING AS GOOD A LIFE AS WE CAN. I KNOW HE DIDN'T PUT ANY STRINGS ON SALVATION BUT IT SHOULD MAKE US WANT TO LOVE HIM WITH ALL OUR HEARTS. JUST THINK WHERE WE WOULD BE WITHOUT HIM. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THERE ARE STILL PEOPLE OUT THERE, EVEN SOME OF OUR LOVE ONES, THAT DON'T KNOW HIM AND SOME DON'T EVEN WANT TO. PLEASE PRAY FOR THOSE WHO ARE LOST THAT SOMEONE WILL GET TO THEM AND THEIR EYES WILL BE OPEN TO THE TRUTH OF GOD'S LOVE BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.
